Dr. Miracle’s Curl Care – Review!

I recently received Dr. Miracle’s new Curl Care line in the mail for review. I opened the box and thought — these are adorable, and they’re never going to work.

I haven’t had good luck with curly girl products. In general, my hair does what it wants. The only product I’ve ever had anything really good to say about is Got2B Kinky, which I love, but which makes me a bit crunchier than I prefer.

But I digress.

There were six adorable bright pink bottles. I have now tried them all out. And here is my review:

Overall, these are fantastic. They’re paraben, phthalate, and sulfate free, and they have all sorts of deliciously nourishing all-natural ingredients, like coconut and jojoba. I am way into this. Also, wow, these smell great. They’re like watermelon bubbleyum making love to a freshly bathed peppermint patty. Read More »

Beauty on a Budget: John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Styling Mousse

While I love getting dolled up, I’m a total sucker for beauty shortcuts – a cute up-do to cut down on primp time, a tinted moisturizer to get bronzed and moisturized in one step, a quick highlight shadow under your eyebrows to give them better shape when you’re due for a wax. So on days when I just don’t have the time or energy to do my hair, I let it be curly. I’ve tried so many different mousses, gels, and sprays and my favorite has to be John Frieda Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Styling Mousse for Curly Styles. Of course, you need to have a natural curl to your hair for this to work as well for you as it does to me. If so, it’ll likely be the last styling mousse you’ll need to try.

What this mousse does so well is create the perfect texture for my hair. Other products have made my hair so stiff or too limp, but this one puts the perfect amount of hold on my curls without weighing them down or making them look crunchy. My hair is left with the ideal amount bounce that I’ve searched high and low for. Since I have layers throughout my hair, a curly look tends to work well on days I don’t feel like doing a real hairstyle. Read More »

CC Beauty Live: Beach Hair

The waves, the sand, the salty air.  Sounds like the makings of a perfect beach day, right?  Yeah, until you think about the fact that your hair becomes a hot mess when all of those things combine.  Especially my curly/wavy girls out there.  It can be tough to battle the beach when it comes to your hair, but fear not.  I’ve got some quick ways to prevent your hair from looking like a pile of seaweed.

First things first, protection is a must.  (FYI you should use that motto in all areas of your life!)  You want to make sure you’re applying a heat protectant or Argan oil to keep your hair safe and frizz-free.  You can get the Sedu Argan Oil in this video from Folica!

The beach can actually work in your favor if you’ve got the right style.  Braids are my favorite style for the beach because the salty air acts like Bumble & Bumble’s Surf Spray (also fab!) and gives me a nice surfer girl wave at the end of the day.  I believe braids are your hair’s best friend at the beach.  Buns are also great for adding some volume and texture while keeping your hair off your face.

Top 5 Hipster Trends To NEVER Rock

hipsters.jpg

At first just an underground scene limited mostly to Williamsburg, Brooklyn, “hipster” is now a term that defines an attitude and a lifestyle that has exploded into mainstream culture. Like most cultural movements, there are definitely several aspects of the hipster look that are okay to adapt (i.e. v-neck t-shirts are flattering on many people). But the following is a list of hipster trends that — like confessing to actually being a hipster — will always be taboo. Read More »
