[Due to an unfortunate computer crash (don't you love technology?) I'm bringing you guys a review session! Regular programming will be back next week!]
Tomorrow is Memorial Day, which is kind of the unofficial summer kick-off. While summer doesn’t actually start until June 20, school is pretty much out if you’re lucky and it’s time for laying out, barbecues, and lots of outdoor activities. Well, this braided headband look I did back during the holidays is perfect for the summer, too. It’s especially great because you can braid your bangs in and pull the rest of your hair up so you’ve got a great heat-friendly look. This look is also perfect for beach hair and goes swimmingly (hehe) with salty waves.
So what are you waiting for? If you didn’t give this one a try over the holidays, go for it now! Read More »
As we’re nearing the end of the semester, school isn’t the only thing I’m being lazy about. I’ve got a serious case of senioritis, but it’s affecting my beauty routine as well. I know, I know. Me of all people should be able to suck it up for the next couple of weeks and keep myself looking presentable, right? Right. That’s exactly why I have found ways to be lazy while still being a good beauty guru. Do I go several days without washing my hair? Yes, that’s why there’s dry shampoo. And I’ve told you it’s bad to wash your hair every day anyway. Do I keep makeup removal wipes on my end table? You bet.
I’m sure you all are getting tired of being put together for class as well, especially when your bangs grow out because you haven’t had time to get your hair cut. I feel your pain. I think my last hair cut was in January. It’s been way too long. I’m so busy I don’t even have time to trim my bangs myself like I usually do. Watch below for my quick fix… Read More »
Are y’all hooked on Netflix? Because I sure am. And I’ve been watching Gossip Girl for the past three weeks. I finally finished season 4 and am dying to start on season 5 when I can. Anyway, I’ve been total inspired by all of the fabulous hair on the show. I think this might become a CC Beauty Live theme. Everything from Blair’s loose curls to Serena’s ridiculously awesome braids had my little beauty obsessed mind ticking. But I fell absolutely in love with Serena’s messy, teased ponytails and figured it’s super easy and quick to do. Plus, it keeps your hair out of your face and is perfect for dirty hair days.
Below I’ll show you how to get a quick and dirty ponytail Serena van der Woodsen style…
Who doesn’t love big, curly hair? I know we do down here in the South, and there’s never a day that goes by when I don’t see a girl with hot rollers in her hair at my sorority house. Big curls are a big deal and yet so simple! I get a lot of complaints from friends about not knowing how to use a curling iron or styling wand, and hot rollers are the perfect solution to the hair apparatus challenged. Not to mention, they’re a gigantic time saver and leave you with voluptuous hair. They may not look sexy while they’re in, but they sure do make you look like a bombshell when you take em out.
Not sure where to start? I’ve got you covered, so watch below!
I know what you’re thinking, “Caitlin, I can’t change my part! I’ll look ridiculous.” False. I have recently switched from my natural side part to a middle part. I’ll give you a minute to collect your thoughts. It seems crazy to abandon the natural growth of your hair, but honestly it’s a lot of fun to be different and change your part. People don’t rock the middle part anymore, which is kind of a bummer because it was so big back in the day. Now it’s starting to slowly make a comeback and it’s a little more edgy. The first day I did it everyone was asking me if I got my hair cut. Little did they know I just parted my hair down the middle instead of on the side.
You’re probably assuming that you can’t pull off a part other than the one you have, but that’s not true. There are some parts that are more flattering on certain face shapes than others, but it doesn’t mean you can’t try it. For instance, heart shaped faces best pull off a middle part because it elongates the face while those with long faces lean towards side parts. Watch below! Read More »
I’m always debating whether or not to cut my hair shorter when I get sick of dealing with my long locks. My hair is pretty high maintenance because it has a mind of its own. I cut it pretty short at the beginning of my freshman year and loved it, but I’ve been growing it out ever since because I missed the versatility. Sometimes though, I still get the urge to chop it. I know I’ll end up wanting to grow it long again so I never do. I’m sure a lot of you deal with this on a regular basis too so let me introduce you to the faux bob. Having long hair allows you to do so many different things, including short styles.
This hair style is really easy to accomplish if you have layers and can instantly change up your look. Celebs do it all the time on the red carpet leaving us to wonder if they actually cut their hair or not. You can achieve the same look with a few bobby pins and some tricks. Watch below!
Ponytails are great for keeping your hair out of your face or off the back of your neck or if you’re just having a bad hair day. They’re easy, which is why we love them so much. But the regular ponytail can be a bit dated sometimes. I like to spruce mine up a bit whether it’s adding a braid, tucking pieces around my hair tie, or doing the little number I’m showing you today. Sometimes the ponytail just needs a bit of an upgrade, and this is the perfect way to do it. I had this tool back in the 90s that pulled my hair through itself, but I misplaced it back in the day and I haven’t seen them around much.
You don’t need a tool to do this look though, so I’ll show you how to do it without one! Watch below… Read More »
It’s been a while since we had a hair tutorial, so I thought it was about time! I’m pretty busy during the day, which means I don’t have a lot of time to do my hair. And you all know I don’t wash it every day, but it’s still a hassle to keep up with. So quick and easy hair styles are essential for me, and they probably are for you too. I like styles that keep my hair out of the way so I can focus on everything else I have to deal with.
Half up is my go-to style because it’s the perfect combination, but it can be boring. That’s why I like to add braids, or in this video, twisted buns. It adds a little oomph to the typical half up hairdo. This style is super easy and quick so you’ll be able to snooze a bit more before class and still look cute when you get there.
