I’ve introduced you all to a lot of products throughout CC Beauty Live, hair products in particular. We’ve done a few hair oils and what not, but I have to tell you that Free Your Mane really impressed me. I absolutely adore products that aim to be chemical free, and this company has made that its mission and keep things affordable at the same time. Haircare is something that should be one of the top priorities in your beauty routine next to skincare. Your hair needs a lot of love, and it can be difficult to keep it healthy when products are filled with sulfates and chemicals.
Free Your Mane sent me their Sulfate Free Shampoo ($16), Daily Detangling Conditioner ($16), and Baobab Brilliant Restorative Hair Oil ($25) with “ultra-moisturizing Argan Oil from Morocco, anti-oxidant rich Pomegranate Seed Oil and Sweet Almond Oil.” This hair oil is fantastic and has made my split ends almost disappear. The shampoo and conditioner are wonderful, and you can really tell a difference compared to products containing sulfates.

[The following is a guest post from our gal pals at CollegeFashion.net. They're like the college Rachel Zoe (sans baby bump). Have you checked them out yet?!]
At 6:45 a.m. on the Monday morning after Thanksgiving break, I had approximately 2.5 minutes to get ready and get out the door to make it on time to my 8 a.m. class. Like almost all Monday mornings, I went to reach for my favorite dry shampoo – Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo – to rejuvenate my hair that I hadn’t washed since Saturday night… except, I couldn’t find it. Of course, I left it on my home bathroom counter, 3000 miles away, and for the remainder of the day, my oily hair was safely hidden under an incredibly unfashionable baseball cap.
As soon as I got out of class (well, after a much-needed shower and some hair-washing), I raced to Walmart to find a replacement for my Oscar Blandi. My college town doesn’t have a Sephora, so I was in search of cult favorites Psst or Batiste. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find either of them. However, I did see TRESemmé’s Fresh Start Dry Shampoo. I purchased it (for about $4), and was ecstatic about finding a dry shampoo that cost less than my favorite Starbucks order. Read More »

The summer may be an endless sea of hot days, but every hot day feels a little different. And your hair feels different too.
Hot and dry? Flat and sweaty.
Hot and humid? Big and frizzy (and sweaty).
You look great as you walk out the door. Glancing at your reflection in every passing window you even give yourself a wink. “Good Hair Day!” you think to yourself. But come lunch – game over. Your hair has fallen flat or totally frizzed out.
Beat the heat, as they say; when you hit the store for last minute school supplies look for these hairsprays. They work for nearly all hair types – trust me, I tried – and will keep that just walked out the door with awesome hair look goin’ all day long.
1. Sheer Blonde by John Frieda: Crystal Clear Shape and Shimmer Spray
The name says it all – and also doubles as something of a tongue twister. Frieda’s hair spray is non-yellowing, non-dulling and dries clear. I’ve discovered this hairspray is not only good for blondes, but for all shades of hair. Because the spray dries to clear, anyone can use it and definitely should if they want a straight, sleek look. But blondes should most definitely give this spray a go. Bonus: no matter how much you use, you can still run your fingers through your hair. Or whoever else might want to… Read More »

Maybe she’s born with it, but for me, it’s definitely Maybelline. Like most women, I don’t even think about how many beauty products, from face wash to perfume, I layer on every day. Something I’ve given even less thought to is what’s in my products—until I found Kaia House.
Jumping on the organic bandwagon a little late, I just discovered Kaia House, the foremost source for organic skin and beauty care. Kaia House focuses on banishing the use over of harmful petrochemicals, parabens and other skin offenders, and offers 20 lines of premium organic and natural products including celeb-trendy Osea, Perfect Organics, Red Flower, and Biotique.
But when it comes to beauty products, is going out of your way to buy organic really worth it? Absolutely, according to Kaia House. And after reading their extensive list of un-safe (and common) chemicals that should be avoided when purchasing beauty products, I think I’m a convert.
Read up on the dangers lurking in your makeup bag and then head to KaiaHouse.com for a more comprehensive list. Your skin will thank you! Read More »
