Kate Moss is ridiculously beautiful, not easy to relate to, and more than a bit troubled…my favorite kind of celebrity. And one of the few celebs whose casual style is perhaps even better than her red carpet looks. She somehow makes the simplest outfits look totally haute couture and runway ready.

Blazer, Shorts, Cami, Wedges, Bag, Hat, Sunglasses.

Who knew an all black outfit could look so carefree and perfect for spring? The monochromatic scheme of this look is my favorite part. Normally I’m all about pops of color, but sometimes it’s not necessary at all. The blazer is the perfect layer for spring, and underneath is a simple but adorable lacey tank that is a perfectly viable standalone piece. The shorts are a modest length, but still flattering and cute.

A pair of wedges is a great casual summer shoe (please, for the love of all things holy and fashionable, say no to flip flops). Kate’s big hat, round sunglasses, and crossbody bag with a chain strap are the perfect accessories to jazz the outfit up a little while still being understated. This look is so basic, but still so visually captivating, and a great alternative to typical spring/summer fashion.

I know winter break just ended and we’re all falling back into our usual school routines, but I know I’m not the only one out there who can’t wait for summer. I miss long, carefree days at the beach, where thoughts of school and work are miles away and where I can go makeup-free and let my hair air-dry in the warm sun.

Unfortunately, it’s still pretty chilly out there, so I’m not going to be leaving my house with wet hair anytime soon. Until then, though, at least I can cover up unwashed or messy hair with cute winter hats! Winter hats are the ultimate multi-tasking accessory: they cover up bad hair days, keep you nice and warm, and they’re a cute addition to any winter outfit! Winter is in full swing. Whether you’re dealing with icy wind, slushy streets, or ceaseless snowfall, every college girl knows that winter weather means adjusting our wardrobes.

Bundling up in style, however, can present a variety of challenges – from finding cute and cozy layers, to worst of all, looking lumpy and frumpy. If you’re in need of some guidance on how to layer without looking lumpy or just some extra winter inspiration, consider this your handbook!

1. Wear your socks!
I’ll be the first to admit that I hate wearing socks. Hate it! Icy feet, unfortunately, instantly make the rest of you colder, making socks an absolute winter necessity.

Outside of warm boots, warm, insulating socks are the easiest way to lock in extra heat. For extra cold weather, look for tall socks – the more leg coverage, the better. Thigh-high styles were popular this fall and look adorable scrunched under boots, as do knee-high pairs. Finally, if you’re using your socks as an accessory, look for fun details or patterns for warmth AND style.

2. Pile on thin fabrics!
Cold-weather girls have long been known to layer tights and leggings under the skinniest of pants. (This can be an amazing strategy for surviving below-freezing wind chills!) Opt for dark footless tights or get even warmer with workout tights. Leggings or footless tights are the college girl version of long underwear!

Even though this extra layer is thin, it provides some extra cozy insulation. The same goes for your top: go for spandex tanks to wear under the rest of your wardrobe, the tighter the better. In order to create a streamlined, chic look, these base layers should fit like a second skin.

Fashion Porn: Winter Accessories Get it on

As of next week it’s officially winter. For those of you that have been piling on layers of clothing already, this will come as no surprise. You’ve already been wrapping the scarves around your neck, putting on a hat while praying you don’t get horrendous hat hair and crawling around every morning looking for that second mitten (while wondering aloud why they don’t make those mitten clips for anyone over the age of 6). Maybe by this point you’ve gotten sick of the one warm scarf you have, or have discarded the purely practical hat that leaves you looking like a Chia Pet every time you take it off.

It might just be time to buy some new winter weather accessories to punch up your wardrobe.

Whether you pick up one for yourself as you race around the mall to do your Christmas shopping, or include them in your wish list to Santa, there are a lot of cute and cozy options to choose from. And with options like these, there’s no need to look like a giant marshmallow all winter long. In fact, these are so cute, you might even come to kinda, sorta miss them come spring.

Fashion Porn: Hats & Scarves Get Down and Dirty

As temperatures start to drop, and you get to that pesky stage between needing a sweater and needing a jacket, the scarf becomes a key item to fill in. Wrap it around your neck over your favorite cardigan and you’re all set to face the fall chill. And if it gets too warm, you can always use it instead of your sweater, or tie it to your bag for a chic look! A scarf will instantly dress up your otherwise basic outfit – so even if you’ve woken up, picked up your jeans, a tee and a cardigan off the floor, a scarf will make it look like you put some thought in.

Sigh, aren’t scarves wonderful?

The other essential (and almost magical) item for the girl in a morning rush: a hat! If you’re having an off hair day (or you haven’t washed your hair all week. I get it – midterms are rough) toss on a cap over top, cover up that mess and look super chic. There are lots of styles to choose from this year and that means there’s one for you, no matter what your face shape! And while hats always scare people who think they are so hard to pull off (not literally, of course), but don’t be afraid to take the plunge.

If nothing else, at least you can hit snooze five more times and still end up in class in style.

Since the first Kentucky Derby and my long time-span between showers, hats have really become this girl’s best friend. They block out the naughty rays of sun on a summer day, and make everyone look cute and trendy while doing so. To top it off (pun intended) the spring-summer hat styles are making me melt in my desk chair. They. Are. To. Die. For.

I can see it now…strolling from my local coffee shop, latte in hand, fedora on head, bliss in fashion/local barista form. Bliss, eh? Whether or not you are prancing to your last final (with greasy hair) on a windy day or rolling out your beach mat for the first day on the beach front lawn – fall head over heels with this super cute summer hats, for cheap!

I love the color, the style, the adorable stripped ribbon. This hat is cuter than mini-back packs and would look so flattering with a spring dress or jeans and a cute tank. I want to buy this hat right now, then have a picnic in the quad while wearing it.

Can we hold the press right now?! This baby is only $7.99 at Aeropostale. I haven’t been to that store since the I was twelve, but it looks like I’m going back. Pronto.

Aeropostale does it again with another $7.99 hat that makes me want to read a book in a gazebo, buy a new sundress, and sunbathe all at the same time. And how cute would this flirty topper look with a plain white tee, jean shorts and some flippy floppies?

This hat is just so chic and perfect for summer time in the city, I am instantly in love. It is basic, simple, and ideal for you ladies out there (myself included) who want an instant (not too obvious) outfit boost.

The newest designer from Target, Eugenia Kim is my newest hero. This intricately stitched straw fedora says it all. It is laid back, fun, and sophisticated. I’m loving everything about it. P.S. Celebs like Madonna, Beyonce, and Rihanna rock these trendy beauties as well. Extra bonus!

This hat is so yummy, and not just for the beach! It is unique, stylish, but not too overboard, and looks way more spendy then its measly $14.99 price tag. And I’m a sucker for intricate details like the birdy on the front. With this cute little number, nobody will know you are having a bad hair week day!

This fedora will work for summer and slip its way right into fall. It’s so versatile, it will go with anything. I love the rich brown color, the ribbon detail, and that it is from Urban Outfitters (one of my favorite places that makes me feel instantly cooler). You can also get it in black or or a fabulous neutral straw!

Ok, let’s go out with a tip of our hats: this cute thang does not look it’s cost at $6.80. It is casual and different, and its bohemian design is simply lovely.
