8 Under $20: Valentine’s Day Love

Valentine’s Day is a week away, and I’m going to confess that I’m pretty excited about it. I know that it’s sort of over-hyped, but I just love that there is a whole day out of the year celebrating love! So of course I take full advantage of Valentine’s Day fashion: red, heart overload, and romantic details! If you’re as much of a hopeless romantic as I am, then you’ll love these great fashion finds for Valentine’s Day — and even if you’re not, you’ll love the prices! Read More »

8 Under $20: Valentine’s Day Fashion

This Sunday is February 14th, that equally loved and dreaded holiday all about looooove.  While you may be worrying about whether you have a date or not, there’s no need to worry about what you’re gonna wear. There are tons of affordable and adorable options out there for any of those V-Day plans: hot date, night out with the girls or staying in on the couch watching sappy movies and eating cartons of ice cream.

Valentine’s Day is all about red, pink, and hearts so whether you choose to vamp it up in a sexy red dress, add a burst of festive color with tights or shoes, or show your heart with accessories, you can easily incorporate the day’s theme into a cute look that isn’t over-the-top.

Here are a few of my favorite options… Read More »

Fashionably Techie: (For) All the Single Ladies

etsy.jpgSo, the world is awash in a sea of red and pink. There are hearts, roses, and tiny angels with bow & arrows everywhere. Sigh. Love.

If you’re like me then this time of year can be pretty lame. And SAD (that would be Singles Awareness Day). So instead of pining over the great romantic love that you’re not having, do what I’m doing and practice some self love. Spoil yourself!

Here’s my techie grab bag:

Something I Can Use: Although not exciting, if I give myself a gift, I want it to be something I can use. A day at the spa (or, more accurately on my budget, a spa-in-a-box) would be nice, but a new umbrella would be better. It’s cute and shiny. And blocks the rain. And it will make it oh-so-much easier for that perfect man to see me on that gray and dreary day.

Something That Sparkles: I like jewelry. And I’m a geek. Did you know there was a whole section of Etsy dedicated to the combination of those two things? That’s right, geek jewelry. I can’t actually decide what I want because it’s all so full of win. And since it’s Etsy it’s pretty much proven to be unique. Read More »

Night Styler: Love (or Lust) Is In the Air

79697529preview.jpg[In early adulthood there is an activity that plays a large role in most of our lives; nights out on the town. And with those nights out always comes the question: “What am I gonna wear?!?”

Each week I’ll be putting together a cute and affordable “going out” ensemble guide (that you can tweak to your own personal style and body type, of course) so that maybe that age-old question can be answered a little quicker than usual. And your friends aren’t waiting - for hours - for you to emerge from your room. Just consider me your own (free) personal Rachel Zoe.]

So this weekend is quite a weekend: Friday the 13th, Valentine’s Day and a lovely 3 day weekend, all rolled into one.

In the spirit of the equally loved and hated V-Day, I decided to do a Valentine’s version of Night Styler with a super vampy outfit that those of us in relationships can wow our honeys with, and those of us going out in hopes that cupid points his arrow at us, can wow potential suitors with.

If nothing else, at least this holiday is a reason to rock the red. Read More »

Perez: The Harbinger of Taste

81020197.jpgWord on the iNet is celebrity hanger-on Gayimus Maximus Perez Hilton is designing his own clothing line, which debuts on June 6th. The line will be available at Hot Topic, and will be called…Perez Hilton for Hot Topic. Yow!

Though I’ve only seen a few items from the PH(Squared)T collection, it appears that is will consist of small t-shirts, skinny jeans, hoodies, rubber band bracelets, flip flops, sneakers…basically, all the cheap sh*t that a fifteen-year-old girl or sexually confused boy needs to trick out their wardrobe for the big Fall Out Boy concert.

In an online video promoting the line, Perez calls out Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag on their own overpriced, mundane garbage lines and says that, unlike theirs, his will be very affordable and appealing to the demographic that his website caters to.

That said, I kind of have to give Mr. Hilton props. While I certainly won’t be sprinting in to Hot Topic on that fateful Friday in June, the line’s hot pink patterned pants and cerulean blue t-shirts featuring guns and sparkles and rainbows and hearts (Fact! All on one shirt!) look to be pretty much everything a fine young piece of prepubescent mall trash could hope for. Read More »

Get a Tattoo, Be a Human Advertising Campaign

chanel.jpgTattoos are always an iffy subject.

They stay on you forever, something that seems awesome at 20 (skull and crossbones with flames! Sweet!) might not seem so cool at 40 (“mommy, why do you have a scary skull on your back?”), and getting them removed is a whole hell of a lot more painful than getting them done.

Plus, people tend to look at you differently if there’s permanent ink on your arm or back or stomach.

Tattoos will always be a heavily debated topic, but what if I told you the discussion was about to get a little more complicated?

Branding Tattoos, a new way for advertisers to get their product out there and for image conscious buyers to forever connect themselves with their favorite apparel or make-up line, are slowly becoming more popular in the states.

Consumers are turning away from hearts, flowers, and tribal armbands, and getting Nike and Dior etched into their skin forever. Read More »

Bad Thai Cops Subject to Unusual Punishment

hello kittyDespite what they may think, Thai police officers are not above the law. In fact, a new measure enacted to ensure that they don’t commit even the smallest misdemeanors may lead one to believe that they are far below the law, moreso than any common citizen.

A senior officer in Bangkok claims that any officer caught littering or arriving late to work will be forced to sport a hot pink Hello Kitty armband. The armband depicts the adorable Japanese kitten sitting on top of two hearts.

The new punishment will require the officers to don the armband for the entire work day. They will also be required to remain in the police station, unable to carry out their normal duties. This may actually come as a relief to the macho Thai officer blatantly wearing a Hello Kitty accessory. Read More »
