The point is that I know my fiction. I know my movies. And I know the men in those movies. And that’s why I feel perfectly justified in my list of the top ten most eligible movie men out there…

10. Richie Rich. Granted he’s a little young (Or at least he was back in the day when this film first came out.) but what he lacks in age he makes up for in cash. I mean the boy has a McDonalds in his mansion. If that doesn’t get you on this list, nothing will.

09. Harry Potter. He’s the savior of the wizarding world. Enough said.

08. Zack Mayo.  Of An Officer and a Gentleman. The one with Richard Gere. If you don’t know what I’m talking about go rent this movie right now…But back to the point. He may not be the richest or most prestigious guy on the list, but you’ve got to love a man in uniform, right? Right.

07. Clark Kent.  Sure he’s an alien. But he’s a hot alien with super strength and a knack for showing up just when he’s needed. Plus, I totally dig the whole dorky by day, dangerous by night thing.

06. Mark Zuckerberg. And speaking of dorks…But no seriously. I know he’s actually a real person and all. But I’m not talking about that Marky Z, I’m talking about the fictionalized version of him played by Jessie Eisenburg. Or maybe I’m just talking about Jessie Eissenburg…

05. Rhett Butler. Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn. Southern gentleman he may not be, but that man can sweep me off my feet and up a staircase any time he wants.

04. Tony Stark. The most jaded, sarcastic, and irresponsible of all the superheros. So obviously he’s my favorite. You have to love that whole reluctant hero, reclusive genius thing. I know I have issues so just shut up about it.

03. Mr. Darcy. Sure he comes off a little rough around the edges, insulting the girl of his dreams the very first time they meet. But underneath all that snark there’s a guy that will do just about anything for his gal. Plus, have you seen Colin Firth shirtless Pemberly?

02. Edward Lewis. The modern day Prince Charming. The guy that gave Julia Roberts the fairy tale. The man that could totally make my Pretty Woman, dressing room, fashion show montage a reality. Sigh.

01. Mr. Big. I know. I know. He’s a fictional character from a tv show, not a movie. But technically he was featured in two movies. And who better than the billionaire boyfriend, who loves old school NYC to top off this list of eligible bachelors? No one I can think of. So John James Preston it is.

The Jonas Brothers have gone and become hot when no one was looking.

No, this is not a joke or a drill. I am completely serious. Now, I am not a huge fan of the Jonas Brother. Nor have I ever claimed to be. In fact, I think more often than not I’ve been the girl laughing at all the other girls oohing and aahing over these “totally hot” brothers. I’d just roll my eyes and walk away. I never really saw the appeal.

But apparently I haven’t really seen the Jonas Brothers in a while either because they’ve been doing some growing up since they first hit Hollywood. And let me tell you… I think that for the first time ever I understand why Taylor Swift is still moaning about being dumped what all the fuss is about. I mean they’re hot.

I hate to admit it, I really hate to admit it, because I totally feel like a 12-year-old girl right now but the truth cannot be ignored. Hollywood has done well. The JoBros have grown up well. Don’t believe me? Check out the pictures right here.

Remember the days when John Stamos was best known for his mullet role on Full House instead of Glee? When Leonardo DiCaprio was the teen heart throb from Titanic instead of the guy who stared in the freaky dream movie? When Brad was still with Jen and and George Clooney was the hottie on ER?

I do…vaguely.

A lot has changed since our early years. Preteens today are swooning over the Jonas Brothers and Justin Bieber rather than Leo and co. But just because these heartthrobs are no longer teens, doesn’t mean they’re any less hot. Or any less worthy of our swooning.

Happy Presidents’ Day, ladies!

That’s why your classes were canceled today, in case you were wondering. And why mattresses are “60% off TODAY ONLY!” So while we sleep in and high school students get a week off, and the rest of the world remembers all the great things our nation’s leaders have done for us, I’m going to  do some remembering of my own, but remembering a bit closer to home…

Remember (see I told you) when you were a little kid and you use to have to write those essays about what you did over summer vacation, what you wanted to be when you grew up, and oh yeah, what you would do if you were president for a day? Well, I’m finally getting around to writing mine. (Because I don’t know what else to do with myself now that I’ve finished my senior thesis.) In honor of Presidents’ Day I present to you, the top ten things I would change if I were president.

Disclaimer: This list is not to be taken seriously. These are not serious suggestions nor are they things I would ever actually consider doing if I were in such a situation of power. It’s just a little bit of fun.

10. Instead of the president’s most trusted advisors the cabinet will include the hottest guys in the U.S. Sure they may not be the brightest advisors a girl ever had, but they will sure make the work day a lot more enjoyable (And I’m sure they’d give quite a few of our past presidents’ advisors a run for their money.) First issue of discussion: who has the hottest abs? Well, I guess you’ll just have to take your shirts off and discuss.

9. Replace the White House bowling alley with a White House spa. Seriously, I mean I don’t know what the previous presidents were thinking. Who relaxes by bowling? Especially with those horrible shoes. Thanks but no thanks. I’ll take a massage table, some scented candles, and a facial any day.

8.  Instead of vacationing at Camp David I’ll vacation at Disney World. Why vacation at a country retreat when you can go to Disney World – the greatest place on earth? I don’t know about you, but if I’m gonna be spending a week surrounded by rodents, I prefer mine with squeaky voices and comically oversized shoes.

7.  Upon completion of their degrees, college students get their tuition back. My gift to college students everywhere. If they managed to make it through four years of partying hard work and dedication to their studies they deserve a reward. I would know.

6.  There really will be a Starbucks on every corner. And of course, the president drinks for free. What? I’d need to stay caffeinated, okay? Have you ever seen me with less than sixteen ounces of caffeinated caramel goodness in my system? No. You haven’t. And there’s a reason for that.

5. Margarita Mondays will become a nationally observed holiday. Okay so maybe margaritas all day wouldn’t be the best idea. But at least a mandatory margarita during a mandatory 5 p.m. cocktail hour on Mondays. It will boost everyone’s mood and make it all the more interesting for those that have to return to work after their drinks. Don’t you think?

4. Add zebra stripes to the white house. Come on. The place hasn’t been painted since 1800. It could use a bit of a spruce up.

3. State of the Union address will involve a rundown of the previous year’s fashion trends. Okay so I don’t actually have a legitimate excuse for this one, but I just think that it would be more fun to go back and pick out the best and worst fashion mistakes of the past year than to discuss the nation’s successes and failures. Not necessarily as productive, but definitely more entertaining. Especially if my Secretary of Style, Joan Rivers, was sitting behind me.

2.  My presidential salary will include a special shoe shopping budget. This is totally reasonable. I mean I’ll be attending tons of important functions every week. That will require lots and lots of cute outfits and lots and lots of cute shoes to go with said outfits. And if my budget allows for those shoes to be Louboutins, Jimmy Choos, and Manolo Blahniks, then so be it. I am serving my country, after all.

1. Make CollegeCandy the required reading material for the entire universe. If not for the entire United States population (I’m not sure I want my mom gettin’ this on her Google Reader) than at least for all the college girls out there. It’s for their own good, I assure you.

[A few weeks ago, one CollegeCandy writer wrote a rather scathing post on why girls should never, under any circumstances, not even if he was the last guy on earth, date a bro. Today, I write my rebuttal. This one goes out to you, Middle School Debate Coach.]

Yes, I know.  This already seems like I’m going to be writing an article pleading with chicks to “give bros a chance, YOU DON’T KNOW THEM LIKE I DO!” etc and so forth.  Or that I am a bro in disguise, infiltrating a website for the ladies to spread my bro-paganda.  But I’m not either of those things.  It’s true, bros are some of the most infuriating people on the planet.  It would appear that they have no depth, and that their perceptions of institutions like “relationships” and “hygiene” seem sometimes skewed in a very unappealing direction.  BUT!  I am here to tell you, this is not the case.

The past article about why girls should never dates bros brings up some compelling points, but I don’t think my fellow CollegeCandy writer knows the same “bros” that I do.  Look, bros are human beings, too.  I’m not saying they don’t get carried away sometimes most of the time, but I am saying that if dealing with a TRUE bro (not the CollegeHumor caricature of a popped-collar, beer-swilling, hoodie-wearing buffoon), the “issues” she outlined don’t apply.  I grew up around self-proclaimed bros in one of the preppiest towns in America.  (We’re so preppy we were featured in the “tea-partay” video.) The boys that were my best friends and guys that I dated were total bros in every sense of the word, and I would even go so far as to call my dad a former “bro.”  Even now, years later, they are still my boys and always have my back, no matter what.

Are they immature?  Of course they are.
Do we disagree on almost everything?  Pretty much.
But, to be fair, almost every guy I know is immature and is going to think what he wants, be he a “bro,” “hipster,” or any other male variety.

The truth is, there’s a lot going for a bro and here are just five of their finest qualities:

Despite the hype, they actually know how to treat women:
At first, this recent BroBible article just looks like fight between 2 douchey bros who puff up their chests and act all macho when they’ve had too much Jager to impress the ladies inside the bar. The reality, though, is that Bro #1 went after Bro #2 for hitting a woman in the bar.  Yes, the guy hit. a. woman. The author of the article harshly condemns the “pathetic, woman-beating, candy ass,” stating: “No matter the situation, there’s nothing more despicable and chicken sh*t cowardly than hitting a woman. Nothing.”

I actually love their hair:
You can ask any of my friends: I am a sucker for the flow.  A true bro rocks the flow, or as Branford Wintsworth called it, the lettuce.  By flow, I do not mean that Justin Bieber nonsense.  I’m talking just-long-enough-to-peek-out-from-under-the-lax-helmet/baseball-cap hair.  Om nom nom.

They have astonishingly good taste in music:
I must say, props to BroBible’s music section, most especially their “Download of the Day” bits.  Those playlists are consistently bangin’ and they are responsible for giving a lot of great up-and-coming artists the credit they deserve. (Even Sam Adams, who y’all know I have a massive crush on, is acknowledged, despite the ongoing debate as to whether or not he is authentically “bro.”)  Even Fratmusic.com (currently on hiatus) is an unbelievable source for party playlists… and also started by bros.

They are hilarious:
Con Bro Chill, also known as Connor Martin, is hysterical (not to mention foiiiiiine, as my good friend Mary Ellen would say).  Empirically, he has a ridiculous body, which he shows off in all of his videos.  He also LOVES HIS GRANDMA!!  She appears in pretty much all of his clips, and is absolutely mind-blowingly adorable.  He calls the character of Con Bro Chill about “50% him,” so even he is able to laugh at how ridiculous the facade is.

Hi? Athletes?!:
As stated before, Con Bro Chill’s body is bangin’.  As are the bodies of most serious college athletes, many of whom are bros.  And they don’t  get that ripped from simply cracking brewskis on the porch.  Sports instill in a guy a sense of discipline, especially at the college level.  From early morning weights to late night practices under the lights, guys who are serious about a sport are sure to be serious about other things, too.

I’m not saying all bros are perfect or even remotely close to perfect. What I am saying, though, is that there are a lot of great bros out there and we shouldn’t let the few misogynistic, self-involved asshats spoil a great crop of boys.

I must admit, I did get swept up in this year’s World Cup. What’s so wrong about cheering for the U.S. as if I actually understand what’s going on? So what if I hesitated each time before saying “score!” because I wasn’t sure if it was the correct terminology in soccer.

One thing’s for sure: even for someone who doesn’t quite understand sports (ahem, myself), it sure is fun watching those sexy men run up and down a field (court? stadium?). So here are my top reasons why athletes are a particular breed of mouth-watering man candy.

They sweat
Something about a guy getting all hot and steamy is just irresistible. Sure wouldn’t mind hitting the showers with them after the game… Okay, I’m getting carried away here, but seriously, it must be some kind of primal attraction that draws us to perspiration.

They show their badass side
When opposing team members get all up in each others’ space, penalties are called, yellow cards tossed out, a whole bunch of other sports jargon I don’t know, it is just plain exciting. Who doesn’t have just a little bit of a weakness for guys opposing authority and getting into trouble?

They have muscles
And lots of them. Especially in the abs region. Anyone want to join my organization to make all sports shirtless?

They are a package deal
Most spectator sports are played in teams. Teams mean hoards of attractive men in one place. A bunch of guys, even only somewhat good-looking guys, become instantly hotter when they are together. Simple as that.

They are successful
Alright, now I don’t mean this in a gold-digging, materialistic way, but an athlete’s celeb status really only adds to his appeal. We can’t deny our love for male celebrities, and athletes just take it a step further with their sporty skills.

They are passionate
You know if a guy is playing a sport professionally, he’s gotta be in love with the game. Just think of how devoted he could be to some lucky lady (namely, me). Knowing a guy is determined in one aspect of his life makes a gal confident he’s that hard-working in a relationship.

So keep ogling those athletes; it’s the most exciting part of watching a game anyway.

I’m definitely from the “book is better than the movie” school, especially when it comes to Harry Potter. (They leave so much out!) But there is one reason why I keep shelling out $10 to watch the film adaptation of my favorite books of all time: the hotties.

But, which actor from the Harry Potter movies is the hottest?

The most popular choice seems to be Daniel Radcliffe, who plays The Boy Who Lived himself, but there have been many babes walking the halls of Hogwarts since The Sorcerer’s Stone was released in 2001. And most of those have been highly overlooked.

Who is your favorite? I’m partial to the new guy who plays Cormac McLaggen in the sixth movie (which is why I’ll be at a midnight showing on Wednesday…and then subsequent repeat viewings after that); he’s so hot it hurts! Hermione Granger Emma Watson is the luckiest girl in Hollywood.
