[In early adulthood there is an activity that plays a large role in most of our lives; nights out on the town. And with those nights out always comes the question: “What am I gonna wear?!?”
Each week I’ll be putting together a cute and affordable “going out” ensemble guide (that you can tweak to your own personal style and body type, of course) so that maybe that age-old question can be answered a little quicker than usual. And your friends aren’t waiting - for hours - for you to emerge from your room.
Just call me your own personal Rachel Zoe.]
We’re lucky enough to have Halloween fall on a Friday this year, so chances are if you’re going out to party it up, you’ll probably be donning a costume. But for those of you who are costume-phobic, here’s another style guide for lookin’ cute when you’re out and about.
Purple is the color to wear this season, so rockin’ out a cute purple top is key. The beauty of purple is that you can find an appropriate hue for any skin tone. This shirt is only $13.80 and the cut and gathering in the middle is a great way to camouflage any unwanted tummy, while also putting emphasis on your lovely cleavage. Read More »

So the weather’s colder and we’ve said good-bye to the sexy tanks and sandals of summer, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look sexy & flirty, while still keeping cozy. A perfect fall solution is to pair up those sassy summer dresses with a funky pair of tights and a cute and flirty jacket. You won’t be miserable freezing your bootie off as you bar hop, and I can bet you’ll still be turnin’ heads.
I love this dress from Forever 21 and it’s only $22.80. It’s basic enough that you can wear it multiple times in a plethora of ways. Add a belt, wear different kinds of tights and/or shoes, put on a blazer; all of these things will mix it up and give you a new outfit. Of course, you can find basic cocktail dresses all over the place, so find what suits you and go with that, just make it as basic as possible so you can dress it up with accessories without going overboard. Put down the North Face. Seriously.
That overly priced piece of fleece has been cramping styles of college chicks nationwide for way too long. Not only is it boring and blah (and yes getting it in bumble-bee yellow still makes it blah) – but its making you that girl. You know who I’m talking about: The one who walks around campus in her big sunglasses, tight stretch pants, boots and… NORTH FACE FLEECE.
I’m not saying it’s horrible to be one of those girls – in fact I think these girls get a bad rap for being bitchy and spoiled when that isn’t the case (note: I was one of them). What I am saying is that if you’re going to spend the money on a piece of outerwear there are so many, MANY cuter, warmer, more original, not fleecy things to buy!
Trust me, I understand the “I’m hungover and want to wear sweats to class” line of thinking, I really do. But at least fool the outside world that you care…even a little… and switch up your NFF for an actual jacket or coat. This fall there are just so many cute styles that it’s simply a waste to not wear one of them!
Here are some options to consider when trading in your beloved North Face Fleece: Read More »

Fashion and science make a killer couple. Who knew? Apparently Cornell University student Olivia Ong had more in mind than designing the style of the season when she created two health-oriented pieces for her fashion line, “Glitterati”.
With the help of a researcher and a fiber science assistant professor, the upper portion of Ong’s gold dress is made up of cotton infused with silver nanoparticles. What does this mean? Ong’s dress could prevent you from getting a cold or the flu! The silver nanoparticles possess a natural ability to resist bacteria, which results in the elimination of a variety of harmful bacteria and viruses that the wearer may encounter day to day. Another benefit to the tiny silver nanoparticles is that they prevent the garment from becoming dirty or stained. Bad news for laundromats everywhere – this dress doesn’t need to be washed.
