Word on the street is Jessica Simpson has checked into a hospital in Los Angeles today to have her baby. Jessica’s family members have arrived at the hospital to support her so all we can do now is wait for the official news that the baby has been born.

The baby was supposed to be due on April 20, so this can definitely be considered way past due. Jessica has looked like she’s been ready to pop for a while now, but the moment is finally here! I don’t know about you, but I’m curious to find out how big the baby is. There have been reports that Jessica’s OB/GYN predicted the baby to be ten pounds! Ouch.

The giant size of the baby isn’t that surprising, though, considering it feels like Jessica Simpson has been pregnant forever. Regardless, we’re all happy for the soon-to-be new mom!

UPDATE: Jessica gave birth to a baby girl named Maxwell Drew Johnson. She weighs over 9 lbs…not surprisingly.

Hating on celebrities is practically a national pastime. Or really, even an international pastime. People in countries all over the world love to poke fun at the antics of crazy celebs. Jessica Simpson is just one of the celebs that people love to hate. And I really don’t understand why. She seems pretty nice to me, or at least no weirder than any other celebrities. But every time I hear her name mentioned, somebody’s making fun of her. Everyone knows that Jessica Simpson is waaay pregnant (Have you seen a recent picture of her?), but — surprise! — Nick Lachey announced this morning that his wife, Vanessa Minnillo, is also expecting. Jeez, Jess and Nick can’t seem to do anything without the other following suit. Is it a competition thing? A getting even thing? Or maybe the cosmos just want these two to be forever aligned. Who knows! While we can speculate on that business all day, I’m more interested in the lives these celeb offspring will lead growing up in the care of B-List pop stars.

Jessica Simpson will make her child, regardless of gender, model for her handbag line. Nick will pray for a son with whom he can create a 90s revival boy band with. Their spouses will just shake their heads in shame/embarrassment.

Then comes the fragrance, and then, of course, the clothing line, the last of which can get a little creepy crazy. I mean, everyone remembers the Avril Lavinge era of hoodies and men’s ties right? But, see, there’s a difference between Emma Watson and Jessica Simpson, am I right? Emma’s cool British charm and her extensive knowledge of (fictional) magic make her the perfect candidate for an Ivy League school, but Jessica Simpson? I’m pretty sure you have to know the difference between chicken and tuna in order to get into college.

Regardless, Simpson, Alba (who knew they were friends?) and their husbands took a tour of this university’s campus yesterday. While there’s been no confirmation on whether they have plans to attend the school, they’re seriously the last two people on this planet who should be even considering applying to this school.

Okay, fine, Alba’s not bad, she could probably handle it, but Simpson? Seriously, can you imagine having Jessica Simpson as a roommate?
