Sometimes when people tell me that I should unplug my chargers when I’m not using them, or that I should not run my A/C as much as I do (I live in Florida!), I just brush it off. I understand and care about global warming and climate change, but it seems like such a big thing that nothing I do will help. BUT GUESS WHAT??? Climate change could ruin Starbucks! I’m going to start unplugging everything in my apartment because I don’t know what I’ll do if I can’t get my Java Chip Frappuccino in 20 years.

While we all know that college students rely on Starbucks to get them through all-nighters and early science labs, celebrities reply on Starbucks even more. I can’t go a day without seeing a paparazzi picture of some celebrity sipping through a green straw. What are these celebs going to do if climate change kills Starbucks? Maybe then their maids will have to make them coffee. GASP!

Ahhh the holidays! Time for cookies, ornaments, drinks, and songs!  And lots of love.  Tons of new couples are blossoming, but how many will really make it into the New Year?  Probably not many.  But that’s Hollywood!  There’s new couples, marriages, and a bunch of crazy as usual.

Big Plate of Assorted Holiday Cookies

1. Are Ryan Gosling and Blake Lively dating? It certainly looks like it! The two have been spotted several times over the past few months, but this week they were seen at an after-party for Ryan’s new movie Blue Valentine. Apparently they were quite snuggly.  Fun-fact: Blake was in Paris the day before! It must have been really important for her to be at the after-party.  This could be serious, or not since Blake recently split from ex Penn Badgley earlier this fall.  Watch out Blake, Ryan’s ours.

2. Nicole Richie and Joel Madden are finally getting hitched this weekend!  It’s about time.  These two have been dancing around the idea of marriage for years, but it’s finally happening.  It looks like the wedding will be at Lionel Richie’s house and tents have been put up throughout the week.  Congrats!

3. Leonardo Dicaprio goes gay! On screen that is.  Leo will be playing J. Edgar Hoover in Clint Eastwood’s upcoming biopic.  And guess what?  Hoover’s rumored lover, Clyde Tolson, will be played by The Social Network hottie Armie Hammer.  You know, the Winklevoss twins guy.  Unfortunately we can only expect some making out according to sources.

4. Hot mess Alexis Neiers is going to rehab. You might remember her from the Bling Ring and E!’s Pretty Wild.  Well, last week when she violated her probation, she was arrested for possession of black tar heroin and a fake ID.  She was facing two years in prison, but instead got the Lindsay Lohan route and was sentenced to a year in rehab.  The judge gave her a stern warning that if she comes back again, it’s jail. Hopefully she can turn it around.

5. French hottie Marion Cotillard might be engaged! Sources are speculating that the Inception actress may be engaged to boyfriend Guillaume Canet.  She was spotted wearing what looks like an engagement ring at the Marrakech Film Festival this week.  Some are also saying that she’s pregnant!  Congrats if it’s all true Miss Cotillard!

1. Surprise! Kim Kardashian isn’t dating Gabriel Aubry. Anymore that is.  She moves fast doesn’t she?  Kim broke up with Halle’s ex and is now dating New Jersey Jets player, Kris Humphries. Wonder how long that will last.

2. Emma Stone trades her amber locks for blonde! While Emma is a natural blonde, it’s still shocking to see her as anything but a fiery redhead.  She did it for her role as Gwen Stacey in the Spiderman reboot with Andrew Garfield.

3. Blue Valentine gets a new rating! The MPAA rated Blue Valentine NC-17, which was overturned this week to R after Harvey Weinstein himself argued the rating during the appeal.  Now you can see all the sex you want, as long as you can get into R!

4. Willow Smith is touring with Justin Bieber! This is going to be amazing!! Biebs and Willow will be touring together next year in Europe.  Get ready to whip yo hair!

5. Hugh Jackman is still hot.

If there’s one thing I know for sure it’s that when it rains it pours. And that couldn’t be more true than with Hollywood gossip. Yes, the drama drought is over and now we’re swimming in scandal. Is it all true? Who knows? But if the media’s printing it, we’ll trust it. I mean, they don’t lie, right?

1. Did Ashton Kutcher cheat on Demi Moore? We’re not sure, but that’s what the tabloids are saying. While there have been rumors about this before, now there’s texts involved. According to reports, Ashton was involved with a 21-year-old woman named Brittney Jones (why are they always named Brittney?) and even had sex in his house when Demi wasn’t there. His lawyer already spoke out saying that it’s a lie. However, Brittney claims to have texts messages that she saved despite Ashton asking her to delete them. I’m a little skeptical – home girl’s friends say she’s been creepin’ on Ashton for a while – so we’ll see how this one pans out.

2. In another cheating scandal, Posh and Becks are having tabloid trouble over a hooker. The rumor mill is saying that David Beckham hired former prostitute Irma Nici at $10,000 a night. (Editor’s Note: Damn! Time for a career change.) She says they had unprotected sex and a threesome in 2007. Posh and Becks are saying it’s completely false and are planning on taking InTouch Weekly to court. God, please don’t let this be true. I’d like to retain some sort of faith in relationships.

3. Some happy couple news: Joel Madden and Nicole Richie are tying the knot! But not quite yet. Nicole had her bachelorette party last weekend, but the two aren’t getting hitched until December because of their busy schedules! Nicole turned 29 this week and wanted to have her bachelorette party close to her birthday. That sounds like a good plan to me! No other details about wedding plans have been released yet.

4. Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy may be getting back together! They split in April due to Jim’s depression, but apparently they’ve been meeting secretly for the past month. Sources say that Jenny realizes how much she misses Jim. Jenny’s daughter, Jane, has been asking Jenny to take him back. Hopefully they do reconcile, they were presh!

5. More trouble for Lindsay Lohan. After failing  two of her drug tests, LiLo was served with an arrest warrant today. Although Lindsay admitted that she made a mistake and needs help, she’s is still in legal trouble for violating her probation. And now she’s facing up to 30 days in the slammer. Hopefully she’ll spend a full sentence instead of 12 days like last time.

1. Portia de Rossi is now officially Portia Lee James DeGeneres! Ellen and Portia got married in 2008 and she’s finally decided to take on her wife’s last name. Congrats!

2. Kristen Bell and Matthew Morrison dated in college! You heard me. Kristen and “Matty,” as she called him, briefly dated back in the day. Not sure what she was thinking letting him go. Despite his bad rapping on Glee, he’s most definitely a keeper.

Since her debut on the ridiculous reality series The Simple Life in 2003, Nicole Richie has been one of the most intriguing socialites to watch. Soon after entering the celebrity sphere, she was arrested for possession of heroin while driving with a suspended license. Three years later, she was detained for driving down a California highway in the wrong direction (high on Vicodin and marijuana… oops?) and slammed with a DUI.

Now, she is the mother of one (and expecting a second), the designer of a vintage jewelry line, and longtime girlfriend to Good Charlotte rocker, Joel Madden. With a loosely autobiographical novel under her belt and a small role in the recent hit movie, Confessions of a Shopaholic, Richie seems to have made it big.

Talk about a turnaround.

I love Nicole Richie, adopted daughter of crooner Lionel, because she defines transformation. Throughout the beginning seasons of The Simple Life, it’s safe to say that our girl Nicole was a hot mess. Appearing alongside BFF Paris Hilton with horrible highlights and making seriously unfortunate wardrobe choices, she landed a spot on Hollywood´s wild-child list where her reputation plummeted.

Shortly after that, Nikki, now age 27, decided to join Lindsay Lohan´s eating issues club and lost what looked like 100 pounds. She was often snapped by photogs looking like a boy fresh out of elementary school or the winning contestant on Survivor.

Somehow, though, Richie got it together.

Today, Nicole is happy, healthy, and well-respected. Gone with her awful highlights are her partying ways and negative image. She has earned her place among the young Hollywood style icons with an innovative wardrobe combining hippie-chic and classic elegance. In my opinion, she gave birth to the enormous-sunglass-trend that has still not died out…and that I am a devoted a fan of. And she has given birth to a beautiful baby girl named Harlow, which her jewelry line (House of Harlow) is named after. The line just exemplifies Richie’s style and invites the rest of us to try it on for ourselves.

To top it all off, snarky and hilarious Richie and Hilton are friends again after months of intense feuding, which I know makes us (at least secretly) all happy. What is Hollywood without a pair of ridiculous BFFs?

Their hotness naturally stems from the fact that they are a rockstar Hollywood couple, but also because their relationship allowed Richie to get herself healthy again (remember those emaciated pictures of her not so long ago?) and I love, love, love them together for that. I hope that they last a long, long time.

The fashion-y Spice Girl and the beautiful Footballer. A decade and three kids later, they are still going strong despite rumors of his infidelity and plenty of media scrutiny. I’d like to strap Posh down and feed her, but even her emaciated frame can’t keep me from being totally in love with this couple. Especially after their 2007 W Magazine photo shoot. Hot damn.

I know, I know – he’s pretty old. But these two have lasted a long time and God, don’t you want to do all sorts of yoga with Sting? You know it’s true no matter what he says; he just doesn’t want to drive me insane from such a distance. I can’t believe how hot he is at 57. It doesn’t matter who he has on his arm; he is just that hot.

Janet Jackson continues to murder fashion

Nicole Richie, accompanied by her boyfriend and baby daddy Joel Madden, pled guilty to her DUI charge she picked up from the December 2006 DUI incident that involved prescription pills, marijuana, and alcohol.

Today, she was finally sentenced by a California judge.

The judge seemed rather leinient on Richie, who not only let her off with just 4 days to serve, but knocked off a day because he counted the 6 hours Richie served when the arrest occured. Not only that, but Richie has a choice of county or city jail. Now, serving time is a depressing prospect anyway and I don’t really know what jail is better in this situation, but damn. Couldn’t he have like, yelled at her a little or something?

In a nutshell, Nicole can’t drive a car with any measurable substances in her bloodstream. She can’t drive a car without a liscense. She has to pay a measley fee of $2,000 and enroll in a drug and alcohol program which she must finish…by February 2008.

Oh, and go to jail.

And give birth to Joel Madden’s baby. Poor girl.

You know what I’m talking about– Lindsay, Paris, Britney, Nicole, Nicole’s unborn baby, Nicole’s ugly boyfriend, and dare I say…Christina Aguilera. Always rubbed me the wrong way, that one.

H-town is seeming more and more like a ghost town these days with its little coke-infused starlets escaping the summer grit of the city for rehab.

Rehab: it’s the new Hamptons!

But, who is there to look to now? Who will inform us, mere plebes, of fashion trends we cannot afford and only imitate feebly by shopping at Forever 21? Who will entertain us while we slave away at our precariously filing – centric summertime internships? Have we no heroes anymore? No inspiration?

I try to think of understudies for Lilo & Co, but the best I can do is a list of the boring and banal: Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman, Jessica Biel, Scarlett Johansson. Ugh. Stars– they really are just like us. Meaning? Boring.

All they do is work. I mean, come on. Scarlett’s just so healthy! She must eat, or something. Snooze.

The best replacement I can think of is the old hold steady Kirsten Dunst.

Sometimes she looks good. Sometimes she looks bad. Obviously, she drinks. When she does coke, you know, she’s adult about it and doesn’t say she’s “holding it for a friend” or do it off of Joe Francis’s ass. Somehow, through it all, she avoids being tragic and cunning and remains as slightly loopy, funny, and likeable.

Hollywood should definitely start making more of her now that LiLo’s being served a contract with the clink.
