Karl Lagerfeld Says Adele is “Too Fat”

Hey guys, guess what? Karl Lagerfeld said another offensive thing. In an interview with Metro, Chanel’s head honcho praised Adele’s voice, but casually remarked that she is “a little too fat.” This from the man who doesn’t wash his own hair, feels bad for mothers with ugly children and suggests you eat horse meat to lose weight. Here’s his full quote:

“I prefer Adele and Florence Welch,” Lagerfeld said referring to controversial singer Del Rey. “But as a modern singer she is not bad. The thing at the moment is Adele. She is a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice. Lana del Rey is not bad at all. She looks very much like a modern-time singer. In her photos she is beautiful. Is she a construct with all her implants? She’s not alone with implants.” Read More »

“America’s Next Top Model” Keeps Chugging Along

America’s Next Top Model is coming back for its 74th season!!

Okay, I’m exaggerating a little bit as Tyra ramps up for cycle 11. But there have been so many seasons that my beloved Fug Girls have chosen an all-star cast because the show seems to be less about modeling and more about being fierce and Tyra’s bowls of crazy and Miss J’s hair.

So where are these top models anyway? Adrianne Curry married a Brady. I see Jaslene Gonzalez on gossip sites where bloggers forever criticize her gaunt frame. I think that I’ve seen Danielle Evans in an ad or two. Karl Lagerfield, while obnoxious, is right – the show is never going to turn out the world’s next supermodel. If the show didn’t turn out ten supers before this, why keep it up?

Tyra, I beg you to stop after this cycle. Unless you can turn out another Jade for me or clone Nigel Barker for my bedroom, I’m worn out.

Libertine for Target is Totally FUGLY

For designers whose line has been hailed by the likes of Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel fame, I expected more. Instead, the new sneak peak of the Libertine for Target line left my eyes bleeding and a little bit of throw-up in my mouth. The psychedelic patterns reminded me too much of Austin Powers and the prep-meets-punk look they were going for ended up looking more like the wardrobe of a Nantucket mother with a bit of misplaced rage.

Sadly, there are only a few pieces I don’t despise. The striped shirt dress is cute as is the tree screen printed tee. For the most part, it really seems like the only few things the Libertine duo got right were the basics: a black skirt, a black dress, a white blouse. And for designers whose “uniquely aggressive aesthetic” (read: fashion forward look) was what set them apart for the rest, this gag-worthy clothing collection neither says unique—or aggressive—to me.

What do you think about the new Libertine for Target collection?
