Oh Kate, you’ve made some mistakes in your life — remember Peter Doherty?* — and sometimes your style is questionable. Well, quite often it’s questionable. But you always manage to pull it off with that effortless thing you have going on and that devil-may-care pout. But seriously, what is this? Is it 1995 again? Did you stumble into the underwear drawer of a giantess hooker and fall into one of her huge fishnet stockings?
Kate Moss wore this black string dress…thing to the British Fashion Awards two weeks ago. She paired the dress, designed by pal Stella McCartney, with Louboutins and a Mongolian fur coat. She added red lips and a small black clutch. Read More »

If I were a little less creative (and didn’t have an editor), I would probably highlight Kate Moss every week. I’m so obsessed with her personal style. It’s rarely flashy, but it’s always sleek, sexy, and totally put-together. I wouldn’t expect anything less from someone who somehow still makes smoking seem like a hot lifestyle choice.

floral blazer – Forever 21, $29.80//black tank – Old Navy, $8.00// cropped white pants – 6pm, $19.60//black boots - 6pm, $48.49//black belt – NY&Co, $19.95//black satchel - Nordstrom, $34.00
This floral blazer is giving me everything I need right now. It’s gorgeous, fun, vibrant, and feminine. Pairing it with a simple black tank neutralizes it and adds some subtle sexy appeal. Kate boldly breaks the “no white after Labor Day” rule and I love it. It’s easy to bring white into fall and winter by combining it with darker colors, and it’s a great, unexpected color choice for pants. Dark accessories continue to ground the ensemble. Tall black boots are never a bad choice, and a large black bag is a neutral, functional piece. This is an easy, accessible, casual look that would definitely turn heads your way when you’re walking to class.

Kate Moss‘ wedding photos are now taking over newsfeeds and putting all other celebrity weddings to fashion shame. Even though weddings are far from most college students’ minds, with photos like these it’s hard not to have dreams of wedding bells. But we all need to get back to reality because no wedding will ever touch Kate Moss’ and wedding talk will have all college guys running for the hills — so here’s a dose of WTF celebrity wedding dresses to bring you back to Earth.

[Welcome to Celebrity Chic on the Cheap, where our style guru takes a celebrity look and breaks it down for you, our poor college fashionista. What does that mean? It means that while the celebrities (like super sexy Cameron Diaz) are spending $5,000 and more on an ensemble, you an spend way less...and save the rest for Margarita Mondays.]
Kate Moss is ridiculously beautiful, not easy to relate to, and more than a bit troubled…my favorite kind of celebrity. And one of the few celebs whose casual style is perhaps even better than her red carpet looks. She somehow makes the simplest outfits look totally haute couture and runway ready.

We caught up with some stylish celebs and top make up artists to bring you their get-gorgeous tips and tricks that you can DIY at home! Here are the tips we found most useful:

To keep her scalp hydrated and healthy, Padma Lakshmi (host of “Top Chef” and Pantene spokesperson) told us she microwaves a cup of jojoba oil and massages it into her hair. We tried it and it left our hair feeling nice and soft. (Photo courtesy Pantene). Read More »

Last week, American fashionistas rejoiced as the ever-popular British chain, Top Shop, crossed the pond and opened it’s first U.S. outlet in the SoHo neighborhood of NYC. Known for it’s trendy but affordable styles and featuring lines by designers like Jonathan Saunders and Kate Moss, Top Shop has been a go-to for Europeans and visitors alike. And now we Americans can grab up these fantastic styles without having to book a Trans-Atlantic flight. (Don’t worry if you don’t live in NY – you can order this shiz in the American dollar online!)
Can I get a cha-ching?!
In honor of this exciting news, I decided to base this week’s Night Styler on Top Shop style. It’s a little more expensive than many of my NS looks are, but if you love clothes as much as I do, you’ll agree that they’re worth it. Read More »

While I must admit that I crushed on her brother (damn you, Reese Witherspoon) long before discovering my love for her, I am currently in a serious Maggie Gyllenhaal phase.
Like our previous girl crush, Natalie Portman, Maggie really does seem to have it all: beauty, brains, an impressive list of roles and award nominations, and a totally cute daughter named Ramona who took no toll on her model-like, 5 foot 9 inch body.
Whenever I’m discussing my female loves with friends, she always comes up as the “cool, retro looking” actress, and you gotta love an alternative to all the Paris Hiltons out there (no Paris, I do not want to be your new BFF). Her unconventional beauty reminds me of the Hollywood starlets of the past, and this paired with her immense talent qualifies her as my girl crush of the week.
Other reasons why we love her?
She has managed to avoid a negative rep and is never caught by the paparazzi looking cracked out or overexposed, which is more than some Hollywood moms can say for themselves. (Britney… Britney’s private parts…). She has a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and is very politically active, having spoken out against the Iraq war a number of times and campaigned on behalf of a number of political organizations. Have you met our new BFFs over at What’s Haute? We love popping over there to do some “window shopping” of all the designer bags and accessories that we would have to work for life and beyond to afford. Still, we can’t stop. Well, our friends know how we feel and now they are bringing us some cheaper (yet still beautiful) alternatives, right here on CollegeCandy. To see more couture goodness, visit What’s Haute.
If there’s any supermodel whose style is worth imitating, it’s Kate Moss. The former Calvin Klein model turned supermodel has such a laid-back carefree casual uniform, usually consisting of distressed skinny jeans, a top and leather blazer, or a barely there minidress and ballet flats. And of course there’s her enviable collection of Mulberry handbags.
She was recently spotted out and about with her black Mulberry Bayswater Tote, that retails for $995 at NET-A-PORTER and ShopBop. The tote has a signature turn-lock closure, double rolled handles and gunmetal hardware with padlock and keys included. Measuring at 10″H x 14″L x 6″D with a 6″ strap drop, it features an interior zip pocket and buckled strap detail. The Bayswater is a must-have, but if you don’t really have $995 to spare, the ASOS Patent Twist Lock Bag is a great alternative at around $32.00.

If it’s one thing we’ve learned here at CC, it’s that all people are fascinating (Yes, even your econ professor). Let’s face it – people love to glimpse into the lives of other people. Disagree? Then please explain why you’re currently looking at your friend’s brother’s girlfriend’s cousin’s photos on Facebook. Or reading about the latest Lauren/Heidi dramz in this weeks’ tabloids. Yeah we thought so.
Fact is we connect to others by learning about them. And everyone has something to share (even if it is a story about that one time they had a little accident at Burger King…)
So to give you yet another reason to procrastinate, we started ‘The Five Questions We Ask Everyone’ (and five just for that one person) because we know whether we’re schmoozing with an A- list celeb or your local bartender, you’ll be equally entertained.
Last week we talked to Brody Jenner; this time College Candy spent some time talking with celebrity hair stylist and major sweetheart, Harry Josh. He’s proof in the fat-free pudding that hard work and big dreams pay off big time as he’s spends his days face to face with just about any celeb you’d want to call your BFF (or workout buddy – um hellllo Gisele Bundchen).
Harry opens up to us about how he followed his passion, his obsession with cheesy pop (I knew there were more of us out there!) and how you, dear reader, can have Gisele’s fabulous “I don’t care” hair: Read More »

Celebs and drugs, is there a better combination? I think not.
Amy Winehouse is up to her usual snorting, shooting-up, smoking, swallowing antics, but this time there are others involved besides her and her junkie boyfriend.
A British couple has pleaded guilty to selling Amy (ample amounts?) of cocaine and ecstasy after releasing a video to The Sun newspaper of her smoking crack. Conveniently, when the police raided the couple’s home they were lucky enough to find a list of celebrities they supplied with drugs.
Unfortunately, the list hasn’t been made public so College Candy compiled our own list of the usual suspects. These celebs MAY (or may not) have been on the couple’s druggie list: Read More »
