I held my breath through the results and I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!! Melinda goes home! We should take cell phones away from teenage girls EVERYWHERE cause it’s obviously their fault that we have one more week of that bad clothes wearing (again last night, again—what is that?), beat-boxing yuck. I’m pissed. Can you tell?
I mean, I said it—I worried that Ms. Doolittle didn’t appeal to the mass audience—she’s just in a whole different ball game then everyone else up there. But it’s so obvious that she is amazing. Maybe lacking a personality. But a phenomenal singer. I’m pissed. Onto the rest of the show…
Ok, sure. I imagine running into one of the American Idols on the street might be kinda cool. I don’t know that I would recognize many of them, but I could pick a few out of a crowd. But who are these people that they showed in the clips last night? There were people weeping, and screaming, and freaking out over people who—as Idol legacy has proven—might not be that huge of stars. Kelly, and Carrie have done fine for themselves. But whatever happened to Ruben Studdard after he released that first album? Pretty sure crickets are audibly chirping in the silence of his career. Read More »

Okay, okay, so Kelly Clarkson’s new single is nothing like we had hoped it would be, especially in light of how awesome the singles off her last album proved.
I couldn’t find one guy, straight or otherwise, who wasn’t obsessed with Since U Been Gone. (i.e, this)
People in Kelly’s camp are not taking this situation lightly, as poor Kelly is being slammed for not going with her previous team of producers and songwriters for her album, My December, with a release date that has been held off until July 24th as a result of all the disagreements. Instead, Kelly opted to take a more original, authentic route by penning the majority of the songs herself.
So far, her noble efforts havn’t worked so well. Clarkson’s label hates her stuff so much, that they went so far as to pawn Lindsay Lohan songs from her last album, on to Kelly, as if no one would notice the same song on both CD’s!
According to People, Kelly broke it down for MTV in a juicy and lengthy confession:
“My label literally sent me a Lindsay Lohan track from her last album and wanted me to record it for my new album…and while I like Lindsay Lohan, like I’m cool with her and I think she sings the song well … it’s already been on an album. I don’t care what pop star it is.” Read More »
Oh my god. I never thought I would say this. Kelly Clarkson’s new song SUCKS!
What is going on here? I’ve always loved Kelly Clarkson. In all my years of watching of American Idol, I voted exactly one time and it was for Kelly. I even seriously contemplated dying my hair like the cover of her Thankful album, (with the bright red and platinum blonde streaks). Thankfully, I didn’t– but that’s how much I loved her. Not to mention the fact that nothing is more perfect for a run at the gym or singing along with your car windows down than her last album Breakaway.
So what gives? When I was home over Spring Break, I was shocked when my best friend told me she cringed every time she heard a Kelly Clarkson song.
“WHAT do you mean? I loooove her” I replied in astonishment.
To which my best friend pointed out that on 90% of her songs, Kel screams. “Uch whatever” I thought and I pushed her criticism aside. I mean after all this friend of mine doesn’t like Christina Aguilera OR Chris Daughtry’s voices either- what does she know?! Read More »

The big American Idol benefit show—Idol Gives Back—was on last night, and it was quite a spectacle! The build up surrounding the show was unbelievable, and I’m not sure if it lived up to the hype, but it was totally entertaining. Except for Il Divo who I could do without ever seeing again for the rest of my life.
It might seem corny to say, but I thought the energy exuded by Ryan, Ellen (who, as always, was hilarious—“what’s the big surprise? I mean, am I being kicked off”), all the performers, and the contestants was tangible. I felt like they were proud to be a part of what was going on. And maybe I just fell for a great act, but I would like to believe they were.
I know there has been a lot of controversy about Idol Gives Back—whether they really do care, or is it a publicity stunt? Is the money actually going to end up where it should? But a friend of mine works at the food bank featured at the end of Tuesday’s show, and she said that when Simon showed up he was extremely humble and kind, and was genuinely touched by what the people there were doing. I think, whether they went into this or not with good intentions, they certainly left with a changed perspective.
Anyway, back to the show. In terms of celebrity performers—Kelly Clarkson, to me, owned it. It was great to see legends like Earth Wind and Fire, and Annie Lennox, but Kelly—our original American Idol—sounded incredible. Live the dream, Kelly! Read More »

Spring is here. Time to pull out the bikini… or the muu-muu??? Our friends at TMZ.com caught the pink-ish popstar having a day at the beach. Kelly, even my grandmother wouldn’t be caught dead in that get-up.

Alright girls, we all do it. Strangely enough, I think less of us will admit to this than masturbation. More hands will rise when asked if they watch chick on chick porn than when asked if they do this. This is the sort of thing we really don’t want anyone to know about.
What’s this?
Soundtracking our sadness.
Yup. I’ve playlisted my pain more than I want to admit, and have walked in on friends doing it often. No matter who the perpetrator is, it always looks the same; sad figure lying languid on a bed, fully clothed, eyes leaking, while Rufus warbles or Iron and Wine whines or Kelly Clarkson cries. A sad scene made even sadder by the underscore.
Even those of us who don’t fancy ourselves drama queens have, once or twice, tearfully sat at our computer compiling a “Sad” mix and retreating back to our beds to moan over our handiwork. Come on, Love, admit it. Sometimes you download that song because you know, you know, it’s gonna come in handy the next time you need to have a good old fashioned cry. Read More »
In the past 2 weeks I have gone home from the bar with 4 different guys.
But my inability to meet a man worthy more than a few hours of awkward conversation and a long walk of shame (among other things….) is not the point of this rant. The fact that all four guys had one major thing in common is. What do they have in common, you ask?
No, not an oversized bald spot (only one had that). Or small packages (I wouldn’t know after one date…I am no hussy! Ok, maybe I do know, but I will not be sharing that here.)
The element that tied them all together: an obsession with American Idol. That’s weird, isn’t it? I mean, what guys want to watch a show where people sing cheesy love songs? Shouldn’t they be watching basketball…or porn?? Read More »
