Is it just me or does the title of this article sound slightly dirty? Regardless, you can do a lot of things with a lemon — that are perfectly clean, mind you. (Or myself, whatever.) At the grocery store, a lemon costs about 49 cents. They don’t take up that much room in your bag and they are perfect for beating anyone over the head who tries to steal your groceries.
So really, you have no excuse for being unable to purchase that lemon and get it to the safety of your own home. One lemon could very possibly be able to solve almost every life problem (aside from the d-bag that didn’t return your incredibly coy text the other night). Then again, if you want to squeeze lemon juice in his eye.

Q: What’s more summery than sangria?
A: Absofrickinlutely nothing!
Sangria is the perfect summer drink: Cold, fruity, and ideal for sharing. (Actually, that sounds like an exboyfriend of mine. But, I digress.)
Anyway, cold, fruity, share-able boys aside, here is an awesome sangria recipe that is a mid-August must. Enjoy, and share only with people you adore.
The stuff that goes in it:
1 bottle of red wine (preferably dry)
1/2 cup of brandy
1/2 cup of triple sec
1/3 cup of frozen lemonade concentrate
1/3 cup of orange juice
1/4 cup of lemon juice
1/4 cup of sugar
1 lemon
1 lime

This happens to me all the time: I want to eat a nice, healthy salad, I really do—but I crave sugar instead. Usually, I end up eating a square of chocolate instead of a bowl of Romaine.
But now I’ve found the perfect solution: sweet spinach salad!
This takes less than five minutes to make, and it’s DELICIOUS. I feel like I am eating a dessert salad whenever I make it, no joke. All you need is some spinach, a few strawberries, a dab of honey, and a squirt of lemon juice.
Easy process: slice the strawberries and cut off the tops. Rinse the spinach and chop or tear it into smaller pieces. Toss the spinach and the strawberries in a bowl, and poke them for a few seconds to combine them.
Now for the fun part: squirt the lemon juice (I use about half a teaspoon) over the salad, then drizzle the honey over it. Mix everything up with your fork, and that’s IT! Dig in and enjoy… it’s the perfect side for a warm, summery day.

When you hear the words raspberry and lemon together, you can’t help getting a little excited. But when you throw in the word cupcakes, all bets are off and you know you have to have them. Even if you have to bake them yourself.
The cover of April’s Bon Appetit magazine just screamed spring to me and I made those cover cupcakes within a few days of receiving the magazine. And I’ll probably make them several more times this spring…and summer….and maybe even into fall and winter too. They were that good.
Here’s what you’ll need to make Lemon-Rasberry Cupcakes: Read More »
