Ok, it’s no secret that we’re loving the skinny jean (even if it’s not always good for us) and leggings have been a fall go-to for the past several years, but now that the two have combined it’s time to decide how we really feel about this leg-covering love child – jeggings.

Jeans+leggings seems like it would be great idea, what with the era of the super-skinny jean everywhere, and in many ways they are. To start with, the hours of trying on required to find the perfect skinny jean? Gone, thanks to the jegging. They stretch, so you know they’ll fit you – even if you’re a weird in-between size (like me) or you have a “non-typical” body type, like thin but with muscular thighs.

That whole pocket problem (too far apart? too big? too small? too embellished?) is out the window too, since these babies don’t have pockets. And jeggings let you get away with things you probably couldn’t with regular leggings, like shorter tops, because the denim aspect makes them more “pants lite” than “hosiery.”

Of course, the downside of jeggings is all wrapped up in there too. While the stretch helps with fit, it also means that these aren’t near as forgiving as your typical skinny jeans – every curve and bump will be out there for the world to see. The absence of pockets probably isn’t gonna help on that front either, since your booty will have nothing to hide behind. And maybe the biggest problem of the jegging is that it does let you get away with more, meaning short tops – and some serious camel toe – are in our futures.

So are you down with this trend, ladies (and it’s ramifications)? Or is this one of those fads that should be left to die on the side of the road (harem pants, anyone)? Would you be confident enough to rock them? Or should these stay inside the house where it’s safe?

When I think of divas, my mind automatically goes to artists such as Mariah Carey, Celine Dion or Whitney Houston. But VH1 has other plans for this year’s Divas show, premiering live tomorrow night. Kelly Clarkson, Adele, Leona Lewis, Jordin Sparks, Jennifer Hudson and Miley Cyrus will be the headlining performers this year.

Now, I love Miley. “Party in the USA” has become my new anthem. But would I qualify her as a diva? I don’t think so. I don’t think she’s been alive long enough. And to have her share the same stage as Cyndi Lauper and Sheryl Crow, who will be special guests at this year’s show, well it seems almost disrespectful.

This is definitely the youngest set of pop-stars VH1 has grabbed yet. Many only have two or three hit songs. Perhaps they should rename the show “Divas in the Making” or “Not a Girl, Not Yet a Diva.” VH1 is presenting us with greatness in the making, with host Paula Abdul picking up where they are lacking in divaliciousness.

I won’t disagree that these young girls are hugely talented, but I think their addition to the show is a bit premature. While the majority of them are American Idols, I don’t think they are ready to make the crossover to American Divas just yet.

So now I have to ask… Will the real Diva please stand up?

Leona Lewis may be a rising star but that doesn’t mean she’s let her fame go to her head. Or to her wallet. The British pop singer was spotted on multiple occassions with a girly, ruffled handbag in pink and black. Was it a Valentino? Nope. A Be & D? Guess again. Leona actually prefers Deux Lux, in particular, the Deux Lux Ruffle Bucket Bag.

You know how everyone loves to pick apart celebrity outfits — and also listen to awesome music, perferably at the same time? Well, Fashion Rocks 2008 is the answer to your worst dressed / best song hankerings.

The night was full of sequins, Beyonce belting out Etta James and dueting with Justin Timberlake, Rihanna sporting some serious scary feathers, and the continuation of trend that is celebs using their time to fight cancer. Although not everyone hit a home run on the red carpet fashion department (I’m looking at both of you, Solange and Tyra), the night looked a hell of a lot better than say…the MTV VMAs. At least people, you know, took the time to attempt classiness.

As usual, last night’s Video Music Awards blew.  The geniuses at MTV have succeded in turning what was once a borderline semi-entertaining awards show into a series of tedious advertisements between more advertisements.  Great Job!

But despite all the foolishness, the red carpet was chock full o’ eye-catching looks… some hot, some way not.  So, rather than making you search thru all those grocery-store-checkout-line-webzines for your VMA fashion fix, we have compiled the best of the best and the best of the worst for your viewing pleasure.

BTW Pink- You saying “Lemme Check My Flow” in a song has a way different connotation than when Eminem says it… and the thought makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit.

However, there are still some kick ass artists that will get dusty on the shelves, or the webpages if you will, since record stores are as extinct as typewriters, if someone doesn’t bring them into the public eye. Cause come on, we’re all too busy surfing gossip sites and buying Starbucks to search for them ourselves. So, I did the homework….do yourself a favor and look for these radical new femme forces:

1. Santogold- This former A&R executive is the has a dash of the artist M.I.A with slightly a less cracked out beatmaker. Not to mention, she fearlessly pulls of electric blue skinny jeans and leopard print leotards. Anyone who can look hot in neon is icon worthy.

2. Kate Walsh- The UK does it AGAIN. I swear, The Beatles have set a standard of greatness for UK artists. This is the perfect menstrual cycle music, ya know, weepy, melancholy- perfection.

3. Jessie Baylin- Not nearly as morose as Nora Jones, but more a jazzy singer minus all of the heartbreak over a piano and a packet of cigarettes.

5. Yael Naim- Nothing is sexier than a remake of “Toxic” by Britney Spears done by a woman with a french accent. It makes toxic the sexiest song alive, Chris Issac “Wicked games” sexy… French women have is so much easier, I’m jealous.

6. Grace Potter and The Nocturnals- The closest thing to being a sexy french woman, is being a sexy BLUES singer. Grace Potter not only commands the stage like Janis Joplin, she then tears her heart open with the most beautiful, heartbreaking ballads. Heart in one hand, a shot of whiskey in the other.

7. Peggysue and The Pirates- Honest, in your face lyrics, rhyming thrown in the trash, so they can use words like “super-duper” and wanker in their songs, landed them an opening gig for kindred spirit Kate Nash. Quirky, brave voices….these chicks are definitely on our side ladies, support them.

8. Leona Lewis- For all of your pop-tarts out there, this is for you. Leona is winner of Simon Cowells UK version of American Idol, The X Factor. Beautiful, ridiculously perfect hair, and…an incredible voice. If Simon Cowell has anything to do with it…she will be madly successful.

9. Jaymay- Folk chicks seriously need to get more attention. Especially Jaymay. Plus, it’s fun to say her name. Break up songs, coffee drinking songs, morning after songs….the whole album Autumn Fallin’ is….SUPERB.
