Today is Good Friday, which for many Christians means the a day to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. But that doesn’t mean the holiday is only for practicing Christians. Nope. Whether you’re celebrating the holiday for religious reasons or not, it’s a great reminder to turn your Good Friday into a GREAT FRIDAY. And let’s face it: with the spring semester quickly coming to a close, we all need a good 24 hours to just do something, anything, that doesn’t involve work or exams or extracurricular activities.

So here a few ideas to make those 24 hours blissful and entertaining!

1. Go on a reality TV binges
There’s really so much to choose from. Jersey Shore, My Life As Liz, or my personal favorite, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, or any other offshoot of that show that has to do with the Kardashians. (I simply love that family. They’re just too entertaining. It should be illegal…but I’m really glad it’s not.) There’s really nothing better than watching impossibly raunchy boys, a strong-willed indie redhead, or amazingly chic girls while lazing about on the couch with a bag of chips and a blanket. Nothing.

2. Check out a buy one, get one free at H&M
“Buy one get one,” “free,” and “sale” are three of my favorite phrases. They’re even better when they’re applied to stores I actually like shopping at! Like H&M, for example. Have you seen their spring line?! Gorgeous. Plus, they’re always having sales and discounts (and I’m sure they’re running an Easter sale today), so it’s hard not to feed into the shopping frenzy that leaves your wallet lighter and your hands heavier (bags don’t carry themselves, you know). Clothing is a necessity, after all!

3. Run to the jewelry sale at Anthropologie
Anthropologie, for a poor student like myself, is such a tease. Thankfully, their jewelry is always being updated with new shipments so their old jewelry that didn’t sell goes on SALE. For instance, I am now the proud (and fabulous) owner of the most beautiful necklace ever and I couldn’t be happier. It’s finally affordable! I strongly suggest you put on some pants, brush your teeth and find the nearest store. You will not be disappointed!

4. Plan a movie marathon
Remember the oldies? They’re the best. Mean Girls, Never Been Kissed, John Tucker Must Die… All fantastic options for Good Friday. (Here are some more great line ups to put a smile on your face.) Add in chocolate popcorn, friends, and a huge TV and you’ve got yourself the perfect scene to do absolutely nothing and still have a great time. (Plus, I’ve tried that chocolate popcorn recipe with DELICIOUS success!)

5. Bake something delicious
What can be more comforting, relaxing, and endorphin-inducing than freshly baked brownies, cookies, or cupcakes? Plus, it just makes the air around these baked goods smell so heavenly. Need some inspiration? Check out all our super easy college-dorm-friendly recipes!

6. Watch the Entire Season of Pretty Little Liars
If you’re like me, you’ve already seen the entire season of Pretty Little Liars… and probably re-watched a bunch of episodes. But if you’re also like me, you never saw all the episodes at once. (College is not very conducive to my TV-watching habits.) So here’s your chance! One day to just watch the entire season at once with no interruptions! And if you haven’t seen this show yet, you must. It’s the best of drama, fashion, and life lessons about family, friends, and love that you’ll ever find.

7. Give yourself a spa day
I don’t know about you privileged people, but when I get stressed, like right about now since the semester is ending, I get really terrible skin. It’s gross. That’s why Good Friday is perfect for a spa day! It’ll get you all refreshed for the weekend and erase all the work and stress you had to endure earlier that week. Between masks and hot stone massages and calming music, you’ll have no choice but to unwind and enjoy life. Even if it’s just for a few minutes! And it doesn’t have to break the bank because we have great DIY dorm room spa ideas.

8. Play boardgames in your PJ’s
I know what you’re thinking: lame. But recapturing your childhood and lazing about is the BEST way to forget about present troubles, like school and friends and family and whatever else is causing stress in your life. (Read: boys.) Plus, who doesn’t have fond memories of Scrabble, Taboo, and Monopoly?

9. Go on an Online Shopping Bonanza
One of my vices, besides pizza and lipstick, is online shopping. I. Love. Online. Shopping. Love it. Between Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Nasty Gal, and Topshop, I can easily kill 5-8 hours of time. There’s just so much to look at! And of course there’s the ease of shopping from the comfort of your Hello Kitty shorts and plush pillows. Instant happiness!

10. Read Lolita
I know, I know. Reading doesn’t sound like the best way to spend 24 hours of stress-less freedom. But trust me, it is! Lolita, if you haven’t read it, is a scintillating tale an European intellectual struggling with memories of a lost adolescent love. Scandalous, right? Not only is it erotic, romantic, lyrical, and funny, it’s also one of the books a lot of professors and colleges suggest you should read! So not only is it entertaining, it’s educational! And who doesn’t like a little scandalous romance…?

And if none of that works, there’s always this.

Happy sigh. Just listing all these things is already putting me in a better mood. What will you be doing to make this a GREAT Friday?

We all have our own sexual fantasies. Some of us want to try threesomes, some want to be blindfolded, some want to have sex in public. None of these fantasies are all that unusual and I doubt anyone would raise an eyebrow if they came out in a game of never-have-I-ever (well, unless you’re playing with Grandma).

But what about those fantasies that are just “weird”? The ones you’re afraid to share with your boyfriend, the one’s you hear rumors about in the caf, and the ones you read about online when you accidentally Google the wrong thing and then quickly delete your web history.

This week’s Sexy Time will take a closer look at a two of the more cringe-worthy sexual fantasies out there to see what they’re really all about.

Daddy/Daughter Fantasy

What It’s All About: The daddy/daughter fantasy isn’t necessarily about incest, it’s about domination, submission and seduction. Daddy/daughter fantasies come in all forms: an innocent little girl playing “games” with daddy, a bad little girl being punished by daddy, a naughty little girl seducing daddy… use your imagination.

The Appeal: Many women enjoy daddy/daughter fantasies because it allows them to be submissive. Despite how far feminism has come, the “slut” stigma is still very prevalent in society. Daddy/daughter fantasies allow women to enjoy sex without feeling any guilt or shame. Rather than being labeled a “slut” for enjoying sex, they are simply a little girl who is doing what their daddy wants them to. Other women enjoy playing the “Lolita” aspect, the naughty little girl who no man can resist. Daddy/daughter fantasies come in all shapes and sizes and men and women all have different reasons for finding them hot.

The Ick Factor: Since when is acting out incest and pedophilia sexy? Does calling your boyfriend “daddy” in bed mean you actually want to have sex with your father? Is a guy who is into this sort of thing also into children? The answer is most likely NO to these questions, but that doesn’t mean they don’t pop into most people’s heads when they first come into contact with a daddy/daughter fantasy.

Water Sports

What It’s All About: Wikipedia says, “Urolagnia (also urophilia, undinism) is a sexual activity in which participants derive sexual pleasure from urine and/or urination.” Many people enjoy urinating on their partner or being urinated on as a part of sexual activity.

The Appeal: There’s something kind of hot about two people who are so turned on by each other that they even find the other’s piss sexy. For the urinator, the pleasure in urine play usually comes from putting their partner in a vulnerable position and being able to act in a manner that would otherwise be completely unacceptable. For the partner being peed on, urine play can be a way to explore submissive tendencies, or they may just simply find urine a sexy thing. After all, many girls like having semen on their boobs or face (I am not one of them!), and urine is just another liquid that comes out down there.

The Ick Factor: But pee is icky! What if you get some weird disease? Even though urine is actual sterile and safe for consumption, most people can’t get over the “ew” feeling associated with it.

These are only two examples of the many taboo fantasies out there. What’s important to note, however, is that while many people find these fantasy’s “icky” or “wrong,” plenty of people find them pretty damn sexy. Really, Google searching “daddy/daughter fantasy” wields over 11,000,000 hits, and “water sports sex” turns up over 26,000,000. I feel pretty confident in saying that no matter how weird or unusual you think your personal fantasy is, there are tons of people who share the same one. Maybe it’s time we start opening up and pursuing the things that turn us on, rather than conforming society’s “missionary with a sprinkling of cowgirl” script for sexual fulfillment.

What do you guys think? Ever tried either of these? Do you have any of your own taboo fantasies?

I work in a bookstore. I live and breathe books. I’m either ringing them up or, when I’m on my break, reading them, so I consider myself somewhat of an expert in the field. Most college ladies aren’t reading for pleasure these days. After reading all those books for class who wants to waste time on anything else?

Well, I’ve got a list of books here that are no waste. In fact, these are books that will change the way to think, the way you read and the way you view reading for pleasure. In that it may actually bring you some. I’m not selecting these books for their literary merit or their fantastic use of the English language. These are books that struck something in me, pulled at heartstrings, made me feel something. And I think that evoking such emotion is the only criteria for a great book.

In our desensitized world, when someone can make you feel so much with only paper and ink, I believe that’s an achievement.

1. Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov

Lolita was published in 1955, and when you read it, you can understand why there is so much hype surrounding it. It tells the story of Humbert Humbert, a man who claims he can never love adult women, only children. He calls them “nymphets” and one day stumbles upon the perfect nymphet, Dolores Haze. The book chronicles his love for Dolores, but what I found to be fascinating was how you eventually sympathize with Humbert, even though nowadays his picture would be plastered all over “Dateline.”

2. My Friend Leonard by James Frey

I know, I know. Oprah hates James Frey. Even with the scandal, this book is amazing. And if you haven’t heard the scandal, here’s a summary: this book (and it’s prequel A Million Little Pieces) is in the biography section of your local book store and James Frey has admitted that some details are fabricated or exaggerated. Now, I’m not going to get into the politics of biographies (even thought 10% can be fabricated!), because I think this scandal takes away from this beautiful work. It may be fiction, but it is still a great work of fiction. The fact that it may not be 100% true, heck, may not be true at all, does not make me falter in my love for it. My Friend Leonard is so REAL. You can’t help but get wrapped up in the book and feel for the main character (James). And Frey’s writing is so unique and different. He doesn’t use puncuation (less confusing than it sounds) and often repeats words or phrases for pages on end. He is refreshing and his books, true or not, are inspiring and raw.

3. Heavier than Heaven by Charles Cross

Now this one is more of a general selection, more than the specific book. Heavier than Heaven is one of my favorite books ever, but it is the biography of Kurt Cobain, and if you’re not a Nirvana fan, then it’s really not that great of a read. Still a well-written book, but it doesn’t strike you in the same way. So I am highly recommending you read a biography of someone you admire or are a fan of! I think you appreciate a person’s work so much more when you know about their life before fame and how they succeeded. In the case of Kurt Cobain, many people see him as a god and this book knocked him off his pedastal for me. It’s a fascinating book and Charles Cross is an exceptional writer.

4. Everything is Illuminated by Jonathon Safran Foer

This book mixes fiction and non-fiction elements and makes you feel so much emotion you think you’re going to burst. The book rotates between three stories: one told in Nazi Ukraine, one through letters and one in the modern day. The story revolves around a writer (coincidentally named Jonathon Safran Foer) and his search for a mystery woman in his grandfather’s past. He is penning a novel, which is the story told throughout the book in Nazi Ukraine and as he uncovers clues about the mystery, they become incorporated in his novel. This one really makes you think, and Foer’s beautiful writing style complements the emotions of the story perfectly. It’s also a bit educational and helps you truly understand the emotions involved in such tragedies as the Holocaust.

5. The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffennegger

One of the best love stories I have ever read. Period. The relationship between main characters Clare and Henry is so real that you can’t help but get completely wrapped up in it. Just like any couple, they have their hardships, but their relationship is particularly strained. This is a must-read and one of my favorite books ever. I bawled like a baby at the end. That’s all I’m going to say.

Anyhoo, being that I am now officially old enough to have a quarter-life crises, I’ve decided to share some things I’ve loved ever since I kicked my way out of the womb two months early (I’m impatient).

Birthdays are days when you’re allowed to do whatever you want, eat whatever you want, and bask in amazement that you’ve actually gotten this old and still haven’t managed to find Ryan Gosling’s home address (what? Just me?). Anyhoo, being that I am now officially old enough to have a quarter-life crises, I’ve decided to share some things I’ve loved ever since I kicked my way out of the womb two months early (I’m impatient).

The Last Unicorn

I heart this move hardcore. I watched it every single day for three weeks at the age of 8, and I'm still convinced it's one of the best animated movies ever. It's got a bunch of familiar voices, a soundtrack by the fantastic 70's crooners America, and an Existential storyline that is so not for children. Here's the first 9 minutes of the movie. If you haven't seen this shiz, Netflix it immediately.

Cupcake Recipes!

Anthropologie

If you're a stylish hippie girl at heart, this store is kind of like Heaven. Is most of the clothing too expensive? Yes. But is it all beautiful, easy to wear, and long lasting? Yup. I make a point of sifting through their Sales on a weekly basis.

Pumpkin Spice Flax Kashi Granola Bars

I know. It sounds like it's gonna taste like cardboard, but trust me, these bars are healthy with the added benefit of tasting fantastic. Next time you're in the grocery store, pick up a box, and stow it in your purse for a mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack. Eating is good, but eating natural is even better.

Lolita

I can never recommend this book enough. It's got everything one could ever ask for in literary fiction, and Nabokov is genuinely hilarious. It's the Thinking Girl's beach read.

John and Kate Plus 8

Look, if you think kids are cute, and like watching truly normal people deal with a sh*tload of them, then this show is for you. I know it's on TLC and I know it's Reality TV, but it's really one of the most entertaining things out there. I couldn't really tell you why.
