[It doesn’t matter what school you go to, what state it is in, how big it is, whether it is public or private, all girls or coed…there are experiences that all college students share. No matter how crazy you think your personal situation is, it is not just you.
So, let’s bring it all out in the open. Right here. Because you are not alone - we’ve all been there before.]
The Awkward Call:
You wake up to the sunlight shining into your eyes. You open them and – whoa – the killer hangover sets in. Headache, nausea and a mouth filled with cotton. And then you roll over to find a man lying next to you.
And the entire evening comes flooding back: the drinks, the sloppy make out sesh in the kitchen of the bar, the striptease in the cab.
You lift the covers; yup, completely naked. Your bedmate stirs, opens his eyes and smiles at you. “Phew,” you think to yourself. “He’s pretty cute.” You begin the usual morning-after conversation – hangovers, “what the hell did I drink last night”s, and other niceties – before he starts rubbing your back.
You know where this is leading, but before things start heading there you need to brush that so-drunk-I-smoked- a-cigarette taste out of your mouth.
And then the phone rings. Your rifle through the pile of jeans and underwear on the floor and flip it open before you realize who it is: your grandma. Read More »

It is one of life’s biggest questions: can a guy and a girl be friends (and nothing else)? Can two people who really like eachother on such a personal level not take it to a more physical level? Does one person always want something more from the relationship? And if they do, how do they take it to the next level?
Ok, so that is a lot of questions, but this is a topic that people have debated since long before Harry met Sally. And I want the truth!
I have lots of guy friends (many of whom weigh in on these topics every week), so I was curious to know their thoughts. Do they secretly want me? (And if no, why not?!) Here is what a guy had to say. Read More »

Just because you’ve finally hooked up with someone, doesn’t mean anything has been solidified or any questions have been answered. In fact, the love sesh may have raised even more questions: was it good? Was it just a fling, or were there feelings involved? Is it going to happen again? Should you regret it? Does he regret it? Can you go back in time and pretend it never happened?
Depending on the relationship you had with the guy before the hook-up; the scenarios in which you’ll interact after the hook-up; and how much discussion you had before, during, and after the hook-up, the first “reunion” can be totally smooth, or completely cringe-worthy. And, for the record, the first reunion does not include your first words the morning after when both of you are still in bed…naked…and possiby still drunk.
How do you deal? If your first meeting with your last fling falls into one of the following categories, you need to work on your post-play approach.
1. The Awkward Aversion
You don’t know how he feels, and if it means avoiding rejection, you’re fine not knowing. You may respond to his presence by interrupting someone else’s conversation to avoid having to talk to him, fumbling with your phone to appear busy, or simply leaving the room. This will come off as either immature or disinterested. If he does like you and you blatantly ignore him, he’ll think you regret it. Unlike girls who want what they can’t have, guys are more likely to give up if you’ve bruised their ego. If you do like him, I suggest developing a different method. Read More »

We all know that hooking up isn’t all rose petals and follow-up phone calls. In fact, more often than not, the morning can be excruciatingly awkward. Sometimes, that awkwardness follows you down your walk of shame, and lingers like a black cloud over your relationship history.
You might be able to laugh off some of these poor decisions, but in other cases, you might reap the consequences, especially if your fling affects the people around you. Here are some awkward hook up scenarios that you may just wish to avoid in the future.
1. Your Best Friend’s Brother.
Usually, you give your best friend all of the deets regarding your trysts, and she listens, and laughs, and offers advice when necessary. No can do when you’ve crossed the line into sibling snogging. Your best friend doesn’t want to picture her brother in any type of sexual situation. If the hook up turns into something more, congratulations, but you’re still not going to be able to share certain details, because the guy won’t want you gossiping to his sister, and your friend won’t want to hear it. Dating the brother might also strain your friendship, depending on whether your friend resents your decision. Read More »

Last night’s episode of I Love Money was filled with lots of excitement and some serious dramazzzzz (did I call that or what people?!).
The challenge consisted of picking partners – before everyone knew the challenge, of course – and sitting with them at little tables, where the host then informed the teams that they were in a kissing challenge; meaning, you had to kiss your partner and the longest maker-outers won for their team. It was all fun and games until Chance – admittedly homophobic – and his partner, Mr. Boston, realized they had to lock lips on national television.
Once again, Chance botched the challenge, losing the game for the Green Team. I know you’re part of the Stallionaires and everything buddy, and have your reputation to protect, but it was for a split second and then you could stop (each player had to just touch lips in order to not be disqualified and Chance wouldn’t even do that)…talk about a team player. The world is just too small. The more involved you get in any particular social circle or subculture, the more you realize that it’s all one big web.
As I’ve grown older, for example, I look around and see connections everywhere between my friends. Thank god Tom put that new “Mutual” friends function on Myspace. Now I don’t have to waste so much time figuring out how many of my friends that cute guy I met at the show last night already knows. Nonetheless, there comes a time in the lives of most women, provided she isn’t socially handicapped, where she realizes that she has to say:
“You’re cool, but I’m gonna go make out with your friend now.”
Of course, she doesn’t have to say it like that. In fact I would advise against it. So how do you tactfully reject a guy and then move onto his buddy? Read More »

Well, the College Candy commenters have spoken, and you know what girls? You’re totally right (Of course you are!).
I thought I had this roommate situation all under control. I decided it was a bad idea, I told him it was a bad idea, but that we could discuss it further if necessary, and keep an open mind.
Apparently the words “discuss it further” and “bad idea” entered this boy’s head and came out sounding like “let’s make out some more“.
The other night I got home late from work, tired and cranky. I wanted nothing more than to sit on my couch, watch crappy TV and eat a vegan cupcake. Is that so much to ask?
As I was getting ready for bed, he was the only one left in our living room. I walked past him en route from the bathroom to my bedroom, and he grabbed me by the arm, pulled me towards him and practically stuck his tongue down my throat. He had just smoked a cigarette, and kissing him was like licking an ash tray.
“I just brushed my teeth!” I hissed, yanking myself away and hoping our other roommates wouldn’t hear. He pulled me in again, this time kissing my neck, as if this would make me forget all about the fact that he just AMBUSHED me. I pulled away yet again and went straight to my room, shutting the door behind me. Read More »

Basketball isn’t really my thing. I think it might have to do with the fact that every time I tried out for the team in middle school, I got rejected — being 5′2″ hasn’t been a walk in the park.
But since it’s March Madness and every guy on campus can’t get enough of their “brackets” and games, I thought I’d get in on the action … because I need to meet someone new and cute to make out with. So I’ve come up with a few tactics that will make me an insider to this male-dominated fiasco.
I don’t want to appear like a poser and not be part of a pool. So I’ve created my own. It hasn’t been easy to convince my girlfriends to participate, but they’re in. And I scored a few guys too — some of them are part of like 3 pools. That’s just way too much for me. So how did I pick my teams and fill out my brackets you might be wondering? Well since I know barely anything about this sport, I picked teams based on their jersey colors. Yeah, it’s totally not the point but hey, a guy’s gonna think it’s cute that you’re trying, right?
