Have you ever uttered the words “music was better back when…”? Or maybe you’ve been the one listening to a friend wax poetic about the good ol’ days of rock ‘n’ roll. In either case, you’re definitely not alone. There’s a seemingly huge divide between electronic music artists of today and, say, the organic sounds of The Doors. But guess what? Not anymore.

The folks over at the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (aka the GRAMMYs) got together with Hyundai and GreenLight Media & Marketing for the new film RE:GENERATION. Along with world-famous electronic music heavyweights Skrillex, Mark Ronson, The Crystal Method, DJ Premier and Pretty Lights, they brought the ultimate music experiment to life.

These relative new-comers were each assigned a genre of music to work with — country, jazz, classical, R&B or rock — and were then paired with legendary artists from each category to create and remix the ultimate tracks. RE:GENERATION is all about respecting classic musicians — the pioneers and revolutionaries — while ushering in a new era of sound. We were blown away by what was possible when today’s top DJs worked with amazing talents like Nas, Mos Def, Erykah Badu, LeAnn Rimes, Martha Reeves and members of The Doors, among others. How many times will hackers expose personal celebrity information before they get an external hard drive? Apparently everyone’s favorite rehabbed starlet’s MySpace has been allegedly hacked yet again and this time Lilo’s love letters have been revealed addressed to none other than DJ and club kid Samantha Ronson. But the question remains: Who the hell is Samantha Ronson and where did she come from?

Ronson’s mother is Ann Jones, a British party loving socialite/rock star wife and, of all things, a philanthropist, who supports youth rehabilitation charities. The mother of five is married to Rick Jones from the band Foreigner. Other famous offspring include son Mark, a New York DJ and daughter Charlotte (Samantha‘s twin) of the Charlotte Ronson Fashion line .

Born into a world of limos and high society, the Ronson clan only seems to be climbing higher atop the social scene. Their lovely mother was quoted in New York Magazine saying; “I am known as Mummy Dearest, I changed the locks when Mark snuck out to Sean Lennon’s because Pearl Jam was coming over. I told the nanny — I was away at the time — he will not sneak in the back door.”

Surrounded by Picasso and Helmut Newton, the Ronsons were friends with all sorts of rock, hip hop and Hollywood royalty. Not at all a stranger to the spotlight, it seems Samantha Ronson is finally getting her 15 minutes to shine. That is if shining means playing a few gigs, getting your friend busted for cocaine possession and still having time to stop the SUV in just the right place to get that front page photo.

Many speculate that Samantha was hired by the media to set up Lindsay and exploit her secrets. Although it becomes more and more apparent that Lindz wasn’t making much of an attempt to hide. Sadly, it seems the world may never know. In the meantime, Ronson is suing Perez Hilton for twenty million dollars simply for the accusation.

So, she didn’t come out of nowhere, in fact, she definitely came from somewhere — a high society New York haven. Her family is famous for extravagance, money and name dropping. Seems as though Samantha is laying the ground work to truly make her mother proud. They actually don’t make such a bad couple, Dina and Ann that is, a couple of fame-hungry stage moms.
