So I’m sure by now you ladies have heard the news. Catherine Zeta Jones has checked herself into a mental health facility for some much needed rest and relaxation.  Her reasons? She has type two bipolar disorder.

Don’t worry. I’m not going to gossip about this, say something witty, or even try to attempt to understand what she or her loved ones are going through right now. Instead, I’m just going to say thank you to Catherine Zeta Jones for doing the one thing so many celebrities have been unable to do: be honest.

Yes, she actually came out  and said it. The truth. The real reasons she needs help. She didn’t try to claim exhaustion or dehydration or dizziness. She didn’t try to claim anything at all. There was no PR plan. She didn’t try to cover it up or divert attention away from her issues or be anything less than completely open about the struggle she’s facing. She told the truth about exactly what she was going through, and the reasons why she was going through it.

Back in February Charlie Sheen claimed he was hospitalized for a stomach ulcer. Lindsay Lohan has often claimed she was heading off to rehab because of “exhaustion,” and so has Collin Farrell and Dave Chappelle. In the past, even Eminem has used a vague “medical issues” and left it at that. Celebs don’t tell the truth. They don’t give us the real reasons behind these hospitalizations and rehab stays. Why are they really getting help? Why do they really need help? For some we can guess the answers, and we’d probably guess right, but the possibilities can often seem so much worse than the realities. It’s January, so you know what that means in Hollywood – it’s awards season! Kicking off the big ones is the Golden Globes, airing THIS Sunday, Jan. 16, and I for one cannot WAIT!

The Golden Globes merge television and movie awards and are sure to bring out some truly fabulous celebs. It’s (almost) goes without saying that this is the best awards show out there.  But we all know what’s most important (besides the fashion) and that’s not who’s presenting: it’s who will be taking home the awards. Which movie will be crowned Best Drama or Best Comedy? Which actress impressed everyone the most? Who will make the drunkest acceptance speech?

When we first decided to do this whole “gossip cheat sheet” thing at CollegeCandy we never realized how appropriate that name would be. There hasn’t been a week that’s gone by since we kicked this thing off where someone in Hollywood wasn’t sticking their _______ in someone else’s ________. And this week isn’t any different.

Once again, the deets on high-profile cheating scandals are making their way out of the woodwork. Sandy is minus a wedding ring, and Elin is on her way to Sweden. So where is Shawn Southwick (Larry King’s wife) heading? To the divorce lawyer.

Right before we left work, we did some last minute web surfing (and Facebook stalking, but don’t tell anyone!), and came across some of the weirdest pictures we have seen in a looonnggg time.

Apparently, bad bronzer can happen to anyone.

David Duchovny has it. Halle Berry keeps getting involved with guys who have it. And you can supposedly add Michael Douglas, Lindsey Lohan, Britney Spears and a slew of other celebs to the list(s). But really, what is sex addiction, and do you or I have it?

Sex addiction is not about having a lot of sex or really, really enjoying it. Sex addiction is when someone’s sexual preoccupation causes their life to become unmanageable, demonstrated through a range of behaviors including pornography, voyeurism, masturbation and promiscuity. Over time, the behavior can become more intense as the addict’s need intensifies as they attempt to use sex to escape their problems.

In a case like Duchovny, whose addiction was to internet porn, simply having more sex with your partner will not satifsy the addiction. So much of the thrill and enjoyment lies in obtaining the sex and afterward, the addict often feels ashamed or embarrassed after the episode only to go on to repeat the behavior again and again because they cannot control their impulses.

Like drugs or alcohol, sex addiction dominates your life and is just as potentially destructive, as addicts may turn to prostitutes, go into tremendous debt, lose their jobs, put their health at risk and destroy relationships. It’s not a joke nor is it an excuse for infidelity.
