Like a magpie, you gravitate towards things that are shiny: cell phones, TVs, anything that allows you to play Rock Band. But just because you love ‘em doesn’t mean you know much about ‘em. That’s where we come in.
Every week we will be highlighting the best, coolest and shiniest in technology. Consider us your personal Geek Squad. And let us tell ya; with CC on your side, geek has never looked so chic.]
We all have computers, but what do we really use them for? More than likely they’re dedicated to the normal music/internet/term paper cycle with a little Snood and movie watching thrown in for fun. But there’s a ton of other things that can be done with them. And there’s no reason to let money or lack of technical know-how stand in your way of making the most of your machine.
Graphic Software:
So your BFF makes hilarious pictures with Photoshop. You know, changing that can of soda you had at last week’s party into a 40 and writing some incriminating line above your head. Haha, very funny. You want to join in the fun…and get her back but you don’t have the programs for it. You could do it in paint, but that’s lame. Why don’t you try Paint.net or pikifix.com first? They may not make you a graphic artist but they’re prefect for having a little fun with pictures when you have a little time. Read More »

The weekend is finally here! After five long, tiring days of work, school, and fixing all of your friends’ problems, Saturday and Sundare are here to save you.
What better way to kick off your two days of freedom than by going to see some new movies? You may have caught the previews for some of these, but all of them are out today…
Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist — If you loved Juno, you’ll like this movie
Beverly Hills Chihuahua — This is for all the animal lovers out there
How To lose Friends and Alienate People — Possibly your life, in a movie starring Kristin Dunst
An American Carol — A spoof on Michael Moore and his fims. Pure satire comedy!
Flash of Genius — A Man Against Machine docudrama
Blindness — Blindness is contagious
Rachael Getting Married — Family drama and a wedding, what more can you ask for?
I wouldn’t be the movie buff that I am without saying my pick of the week, and sorry to tell you, it’s not Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist, even though I am looking forward to seeing it. My pick is Blindness. This movie is so close to real life it’s scary, and it doesn’t hurt that Dr. Christina Yang from Grey’s Anatomy is in it.
So there you have it, the new releases for this week! Now go grab your significant other, the one you’re hooking up with, or your best friends, and enjoy a movie tonight.

Michael Moore, documentary filmmaker of “Fahrenheit 9/11″, Bush basher, and “way fatter in person with no neck to speak of” (FYI from a friend who sat in back of him at the movies), is coming out with an “election guide” — just in time for the Presidential race.
Mike’s Election Guide, a “manual mockery for the 2008 Presidential election”, will no doubt be full of the snide, polarizing, and sometimes funny comments Moore has made a career out of making.
Will he crack a lot of jokes about McCain being as old as Jesus’s sandals (hey, thats a good one!)? Will he go after Obama’s young, rabid fans who have decided to vote for the guy based purely on some YouTube video full of really sincere celebrities (hey, another good one!)? Will he throw in some jabs about Bush being stupid? How about a chapter devoted to how politicians are all the same and why voting for UFO loving Kucinich is the way to salvation (and medicinal marijuana for all)? Read More »

When it comes to politics, I’m every activist’s worst nightmare, regardless of whether they sport a bleeding heart or a Brooks Brothers suit. I am the apathetic young adult. I barely managed to vote in the last election and I’m pretty sure I wrote in Jackie Kennedy.
Don’t get me wrong, I care. I am informed. But I’m easily distracted by less abstract issues, like what kind of conditioner to buy, or whether my cubicle mate meant to rub my shoulder like that. And after eight years with this current buffoon in office, it’s easy to become disillusioned and look the other way.
Sad, right? Abstract is the last thing the political system should be. But face it, American politicians act more like self – interested, fame – starved celebrities than advocates for the progression of mankind. Paris Hilton for president, anyone? With the Terminator holding down California, it’s not such a far – out prospect.
That’s why I’m grateful for Michael Moore, with his nosy, annoying, righteous knee – jerk liberal fastidiousness. I’m not one to base my vote on a film, but “Fahrenheit 911,” “Bowling for Columbine” and “Roger and Me” were jarring works of cinema. Despite how many “inaccuracies” people claimed they contained, their messages rang true and clear: America’s got problems. Read More »
