I love Barack Obama. LOVE him. I love his policies, I love his speeches and I love the way he looks in a bathing suit. If Michelle hadn’t already nabbed that guy, I would definitely take him home for myself. And, yes, he may have made it into one (or many) of my “do me on the desk in the Oval Office” fantasies.
And now I can live out my fantasies….sorta. Read More »
“The Barack you saw on that [debate] stage was the Barack I’ve known all my life: smart, calm, respectful, intelligent, connected. There’s only one candidate in this race who will bring that tone and tenor to the White House.”
Michelle Obama, speaking to students at Keene State College in Keene, NH yesterday.
[Is it important to you that our next President be seen as calm and respectful, or is tough and powerful more to your liking?]
Every now and then I get reminded that, because I’m a woman, it’s considered rude, overly aggressive, or b*tchy if I assert myself too much. We’ve come a long way; the girls of our generation are enjoying a new kind of liberal experience and opportunity that no generation ever has before. We can have jobs, and kids, and we can support each other. We can even be a little curvy, though the standards of thin are still rigid. Heaven forbid, though, if we play as hard, or shout as loud, as the boys.
I started thinking about it when I realized how half the country (or more) has such a powerful, abiding hatred for Hillary Clinton (even now that the primary season is over). My grandmother can’t stand her, and yet I can never get a straight answer of why. I finally figured out that just about all of the criticisms being hurled at Hillary when she was still in contention all boiled down to the fact that she was calculating, ambitious, aggressive, and outspoken — the very qualities we celebrate in men and despise in women.
Men do it to women, and worse, women do it to women — we conclude that any female who’s a little nasty is a b*itch. Read More »
Michelle Obama was on The View this morning (I heard about her appearance from a friend. I can't watch The View. Something about all of their voices colliding and creating the sound of the 9th circle of hell in my ears), and proving that she has a better sense of humor than McCain's wife will ever have, she "fist bumps" all of the ladies to say hello.
Don't tell Fox News about this though. She'll be on terrorist watch before we know it.
With everyone making such a fuss over Hillary Clinton’s spouse in regard to her shot at being the man of the house; it only seems fair to me that Michelle Obama be dragged out to the boxing ring and forced to show us what she is made of, too.
Through a complication that seems to be either really good or really bad for Hillary at all times…her husband was president. Therefore, we likely already have an established opinion of him. And, by default, unfortunately, many people will not be voting for Hillary simply because of their views of Bill.
So if we are going to put such a heavy emphasis on the spouses of the candidates, we should all know a lot more about Michelle.
HER HISTORY
Michelle is American. She was raised in Chicago and went on to study at Princeton University and then attended Harvard Law School. She went back to Chicago to work as a lawyer when she completed her education.
Okay. So far, so good. The chic is smart. She even skipped second grade. Read More »
