One of the best things about summer is all the amazing movies that come out on the reg. There is nothing better than taking a break from 100 degree heat to sit in a nice air conditioned theater and chomping on some popcorn. We watch these films to escape, and in the summertime we get to escape the heat through summer films too! Usually these films include epic action films, comic book adaptations, or rom-coms starring Katherine Heigel. Safety Not Guaranteed does not fit into any of those genres, and we’re excited about that.

The film, starring Parks and Rec‘s Aubrey Plaza and The New Girl‘s Jake Johnson, tells the story of a man looking for a partner to help him travel back in time. He puts an ad in the paper that catches the eye of local journalists who decided to do a little undercover work. I’m super excited to see Aubrey Plaza in a starring role so she can really show her talent. It’s from the people who made Little Miss Sunshine which also makes my heart flutter because I adore that film. I cannot wait for this to come out! I have a sad, sad story for you. As you’ve probably heard, NYC has a real problem with bedbugs. They’ve been spotted in clothing stores, libraries, and movie theaters. I live in NYC, and my crippling fear of bedbugs prevents me from going to see the movies. Which means I haven’t gone to a movie in a long time.

But this summer I’m heading home to visit my family in a town where no one has ever gotten bedbugs. One of the things I’m most excited for is being able to see a movie without worrying about nasty little critters the entire time. So in honor of my summer of freedom, here are the trailers from a few movies that I can’t wait to see.

Garnet is a student at Columbia University in New York City. She is “that person” who starts dancing at a party when everyone else is standing around, and if there were a Facebook stalking Olympics, she would be a gold medalist.
