If you happen to be a celebrity (I mean, it’s a possibility), you should probably watch your back. Why? Because on March 29th, Punk’d is back on MTV. Ashton Kutcher is still the executive producer of the show, but he has handed over the hosting responsibilities to young celebrities like Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Kellan Lutz. And there’s a long list of celebs who will be made into fools on national TV – Taylor Swift, Zac Efron, Lauren Conrad, Snooki, and more.

Is Punk’d still going to be funny? Have they run out of tricks? Only time will tell. But to celebrate the return of the prank show, we’ve rounded up the 12 best Punk’ds of all time. Check it out.

“I’m a dancer.” “Well today, in rehearsal…” “Sorry, I can’t, I have dance.”

In any short conversation with me, you’re bound to hear at least one of those phrases. I’ve been dancing since I was three years old, and I’m still pursuing the dream I had as a little girl to dance professionally. I’m a modern dancer, which is why I was excited to hear that on this season of MADE, MTV will be making Laura Crow into a modern dancer! This is how MTV describes the episode:

Laura Crow is a hardworking perfectionist struggling with body issues as well as her relationship with her father. Now she’s ready to move past her problems and express how she really feels by being MADE into a Modern Dancer.

Uh oh. There we go: body issues. Eating disorders seem to have become an integral part of our culture’s idea of what it means to be a dancer. In just about every Hollywood movie about dancers, at least one of them has an eating disorder. The most recent example of this is Black Swan, in which Natalie Portman’s character is bulimic. Not to mention the fact that both Portman and Mila Kunis ran around for months talking about how skinny they got for their roles.

The truth is that in order to be a great dancer, you have to be healthy. Dance is incredibly demanding, and professional dancers have long, strenuous days. Plus, it takes a lot of muscle to defy gravity. But because a dancer’s body is his or her instrument, there can be a lot of pressure to look a certain way. Which means that some dancers do suffer from serious body issues. Luckily for me, I was never pressured to lose weight or conform to warped body ideals. But I know that not all dancers are trained in such a positive environment.

However, because the stereotype of the anorexic dancer is so widespread, I often feel that a lot of the pressure for dancers to be overly skinny comes from outside of the dance community. I can’t tell you how often people go on and on with surprise when they see me eat dessert, or even just a full meal. People actually ask me if I’m allowed to do that. I never felt pressure from my dance teachers to eat less, but I certainly feel weird when everyone at a table stares at me while I eat. This attitude hurts dancers who do have body issues, too. Treating eating disorders in such a casual way, as a given thing for dancers, makes it difficult for those who are suffering to come to terms with their problem and get the help they need. Which is why it makes me sad to see MTV tie dancing and disordered eating together once again.

Now, it seems that Laura Crow’s eating disorder is a pre-existing condition, not one that was brought on by dancing. Which means that she’s taking a very brave step in choosing to become a dancer. As I said, when you’re a dancer, there is a lot of scrutiny placed on what you do with your body. For someone who has serious body issues, that could be incredibly difficult.

I can’t help but wonder – is MTV just using this girl for the ratings? In this sneak peek of the episode we see Laura in a dressing room with someone else. Maybe a friend or her MADE coach? She’s trying on a tight leotard and booty shorts. The camera pans up and down her body as she stares at herself in the mirror and talks about how she wishes she could see her hip bones and ribs.

The clip upsets me for several reasons. First, you don’t have to wear clothes like that to dance in. It looks to me like they’ve purposely put a girl who is recovering from an eating disorder in tight clothes that will make her self-conscious. Second, the person in the dressing room with her keeps saying that she “has to accept” that she “isn’t meant to be” really thin. That may be true, but that’s not the kind of thing you say to someone with an eating disorder. The whole problem is that someone with an eating disorder can’t see themself the way a healthy person does. They have a distorted self-image and they can’t just change what they see. The treatment process for eating disorders is long and difficult, and it seems like a pretty awful idea to me to put a girl who is struggling with her body image into skin-tight spandex and then tell her she just has to feel good about it.

To be fair, I haven’t seen the whole episode yet. I’ll have to watch and see what happens.

Whether you consider yourself a Republican or a Democrat, Independent or blissfully unaware, one thing’s for certain when it comes to President Barack Obama: the man can sing. While speaking at a fundraiser at Harlem’s historic Apollo Theater, Obama belted a couple phrases of Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” and even the original soul singer is in shock from what he heard.

This past Thursday night, about 1,400 supporters attended the fundraiser, which included performances from Al Green and India.Arie. And after singing a few bars of Green’s classic hit, Obama addressed the singer in the audience, “Don’t worry Rev, I cannot sing like you, but I just wanted to show my appreciation.”

And Green is returning the compliment, telling TMZ that Obama’s singing is “terrific” and ”he nailed it.”

Even more so, American Idol associate music director and vocal coach Michael Orland is a little too excited about Obama’s musical abilities.

“I swear to you, if he auditioned for me in the big stadium [rounds], I would have put him through to the producers immediately,” Orland told MTV News. “I think he was really charming and had a great voice…I thought his phrasing was great, how he broke it up and really worked the room while he was doing it.” All that, after two lines of lyrics.

Obama’s pitch is pretty impressive though. “He was in the exact same key [as Al Green's recording]. To pull that out of the air, with everything perfectly in tune, I was really impressed,” Orland added.

However, Al Green said, “I was thrilled that the President even mentioned my name, and if the President can get the economy going again and get everything going that he wants to, then we’ll all be together.”

Strangest backhanded compliment ever, straight from a supporter who performed at the fundraiser…

Surprise, surprise: Thursday’s season five premiere of Jersey Shore collected a million viewers less than the first episode of last season, when the cast was in Italy. Some people argue that they’re sick of watching these same eight people, I argue that there’s too many extraneous characters to keep track of, especially if you’ve just tuned in…seriously, everyone looks incredibly similar!

Don’t worry, this will clear everything up. Meet all the extra people that keep stealing the airtime away from Sammi Sweetheart, The Situation, Snooki and the rest of the original cast. Once viewers are all up to speed, these guidettes and gorillas will remain on the air as long as the Kardashians do!

Oh reality TV, how you have gotten me through many a rough patch in my life, many a break up, many a late night binge fest…really any low point in my life. I’ve been with you since the first Real World appeared on MTV, to the horrible escapades of a young Jessica Simpson, I’ve seen it all.

However, in the last year or two you’ve taken a turn for the worst. For instance, how could you let the regular fame hungry people who star in your shows rub elbows with Justin Timberlake…I’m sorry but that just isn’t right. Not one bit.

In hopes to rekindle my love with you, I’ve prepared a list of my favorite old shows, some of which are still on the air. Let us please forget the mistake of letting the Kardashians’ have ten shows, seeing Jon get hair plugs and giving people who spray tan daily their own show.

As long as there are no plastic surgery crazies or people with really annoying voices (still love you whit!) I think the show should could be pretty promising. I don’t think it’s over doing the fashion thing, because how much work did we really see LC do at teen vogue and People’s Rev?

Also, MTV isn’t placing Chelsea into a job so we’ll watch her  attempt to make it, at least partially, on her own. I think we can all use a little inspiration for our upcoming stunts into the read world. That in itself is reason enough to launch a realty show. Especially in the impossible-to-break-into fashion industry.

Let’s just hope she doesn’t turn down a trip to Paris… no one can live that down.

And the latest in completely expected and not at all shocking news? Teen Mom ‘s Jenelle Evans headed to rehab this week (read all about it here) to get away from all the stress of her life and learn how to cope.  Not that she doesn’t have anything she’s rehabilitating from, that is. Her trip to rehab comes right after Evans pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia, but apparently Evans has been clean for weeks now and just needs some time to get her priorities in order.

Right.

If anyone has ever seen an episode of Teen Mom, it’s probably no surprise that Evans ended up in rehab. The girl couldn’t stop partying to take care of her own kid, got arrested with drugs on her and stole from her mom to take a road trip with her freeloading boyfriend. But with this latest development in an ongoing saga of reality shows gone wrong we couldn’t help but think back to a question we posed not too long ago: Should MTV be doing More for Their Teen Moms?

When watching reality TV, I think we  can sometimes forget that we’re actually watching reality, or at least some version of it. These are people whose lives continue on even after the cameras stop rolling, and often we don’t stop to think about what happens once the screen fades to black. Chuck Bass can drink all he wants, because at the end of the day he’s a fictional character. The same cannot be said for Jenelle Evans. Or for any of the other teen moms whose lives we watch unfold like soap operas.

But these girls are no Lindsay Lohan. They’re young mothers struggling with trying to raise a child when they haven’t even fully grown up yet. They’re dealing with self destructive tendencies, anger issues, and alcohol and drug abuse, and that shouldn’t be taken lightly. By the viewers or by the networks.

What do you think, ladies? Is Jenelle’s stint in celebrity rehab a step in the right direction? Or should MTV be stepping in to offer their own support, maybe focus the show more on helping these girls rather than watching their lives self destruct? Or is it solely their responsibility to get their lives together? Leave a comment and let us know!

So I guess that mean’s there’s only one thing left to do CollegeCandies…Take bets on exactly what this new pilot will consist of. (Besides Mike walking around shirtless for the whole episode, that is.)

Let’s look at our options, shall we? We’ve got the obvious workout show. The Situation teaches guys and gals how to get their own situation going on, full of music-riddled montages and lots and lots of protein shakes. Or we’ve got the dating show. Sort of like Tila Tequila’s Shot at Love only trashier, if that’s even possible.  Or maybe not so much a dating show as a “let’s see how many girls The Situation can sexually assault in one night” sort of thing? Or maybe even something where he dates all those girls he calls grenades and realizes that they’re actually really great gals?

Okay, maybe not that last one, but the rest of them seem like pretty realistic options, don’t you think? I mean, what else could a show staring  Mike Sorrentino be about? Leave us a comment with your suggestions!

I mean Jenelle Evans? Does that name ring a bell with anyone? Does she sound like a celebrity to any of you? No?

That’s because she’s not. But yet she was on Celebuzz.com. Apparently there seems to be this misguided notion nowadays that  if you appear on a reality TV show you automatically reach celebrity status. But that’s  just not how it works. Or, at least that’s not how it should work.

I mean how exactly do we define the word celebrity these days? And if people like Jenelle Evans are making the cut, is it time to ask ourselves if our standards are too low? Now I’m not staying that reality TV stars can’t be celebrities. You can’t deny  Kim Kardashian or even LC that right. But any person from any old random reality TV show? Isn’t that taking it a bit too far? I mean why don’t we just throw up some pictures of Kate Gosselin and call it a day? Oh wait, we’ve done that already.

Celebrities are supposed to be household names, ideally people who have even accomplished something. They are famous individuals, people who are world renown, people with recognizable names. They’ve embedded themselves in pop culture. Lady Gaga. Ke$ha. Britney Spears. Even LiLo and Miley. We all know who  they are. Jenelle Evans? Not so much. And if it were up to me it would stay that way.

But what about you, CollegeCandies? What do you think makes a person worthy of celeb status? Are our standards too low? Or does reality TV equal instant fame?

On March 7 the Style Network will kick off the second season of “Too Fat for 15: Fighting Back,” a show  that features a group of overweight teens and pre-teens as they struggle not only to lose weight, but to battle their inner demons, and change their lifestyles for the better. The show follows the students during their time at Wellspring Academy, a weight loss boarding school, that provides them with an “intense mind/body curriculum.” The students struggle with their new lifestyle, with being away from their family and friends, and with the real reasons behind their obesity. It’s described as an “inspirational docu-series.”  But these days it’s one among many.

The Biggest Loser. I Used to Be Fat. Heavy. Dance Your Ass Off.

The list of shows surrounding “fat” people and their inspiring lifestyle changes are endless these days. And I don’t mean to disvalue what these people are doing, but I do want to take a minute to question why they are able to. Why are the networks creating these shows? Because they are inspiring? Or is it just good business? The Biggest Loser is a success and suddenly every network has a “fat show.” Suddenly it’s a trend. It’s a way to make a lot of cash with little cost.

And if that is the case, is this an exploitation of these people? Is it wrong to put these people on TV and have them share their deepest feelings, address their hardest issues, face their biggest challenges surrounded by cameras? Is this taking reality TV too far? Or did they know exactly what they were getting into when they signed on? They get healthy and the network gets rich. Is it an even exchange or is this new franchise a bit too much?

It’s an issue without a clear answer, similar to the controversy surrounding fashion magazines’ recent obsession with plus size models. Suddenly every magazine felt the need to do a spread on plus size models in order to better relate to their readers, to the everyday woman. But were they really? And what about the plus size models? Were they being exploited? Used as a cheap campaign trick to make women feel like every shape and size was being represented in their magazine, when really they were only being further marginalized? Or was it a good thing that women were able to see more plus size models in magazines, whatever the reason?

These are tough questions and there’s no clear cut answer for them, and like it or not these shows will continue on until people stop watching. What do you think, ladies? Are these shows hurting more than they are helping? Or regardless of the reasons behind them are they a good thing because they are actually helping to change lives?
