For those of you who don’t know already, SXSW is a super awesome conference that promotes music, film and interaction held annually in Austin, TX. It’s coming up again and, with the hottest stars getting ready to party it up Texas-style, of course CollegeCandy will be there. (We do love a good opportunity to rage with celebs.) Our cowboy boots are packed and we’re heading south, ladies! We’ve compiled the all-important lists of the hottest bars and restaurants to hit up — and you can check in too.
Most importantly, the girls of @NYC_CC are ready to live-tweet the whole conference, from every performance to every cocktail, with plenty of snarky commentary in-between. Follow us and feel like you’re in Austin, too!

Spring is almost here, which means that the season of music festivals is just around the corner. Warm weather, great music, nonstop parties… what could be better? It’s hard not to have a great time at an awesome music festival. But if you’ve been to one before, then you know that there are some supplies you definitely don’t want to forget. We’ve put together a list of music festival essentials to help you have an experience you’ll remember (or, ahem, not remember) for a long time to come.

A cold beer, boho-style, Vanessa Hudgens licking “white chocolate” off her fingers, The Strokes blasting from a mile away…You have arrived at one of the many music festivals throughout the year! Coachella, Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Austin City Limits and South by Southwest (to name a few) have just passed us by or are soon to be approaching as the summer heat picks up! Check out this guide to surviving a music festival if you’re game to stand out in a crowd, dig your hands into some yummy foods and drink drink drink! (…And by that I mean stay hydrated, obviously).
Music Fest-Style: Go Boho-Chic or Boho-Grunge
Camilla Belle and Kate Bosworth are masters of Boho-Chic, while Drew Barrymore and Miley Cyrus are pro’s of Boho-Grunge. For either look, depending on how you pair your pieces, you can achieve these styles with Music-Fest staples: Read More »
If there’s one thing I love more than listening to music from the comfort of my own bedroom, it’s listening to music live. Particularly at music festivals, where a hefty chunk of change can enable me to see like, 20 of my favorite bands all at once.
Although I always hit my local festies (including Hookahville and any festival @ Nelson’s Ledges – check them out if you’re in the area!), after my amazing, mind-bending experience at Bonnaroo two years ago, I feel that it’s time to expand my horizons and venture out of state (and of my mind) another time.
But, while scouring the internet for my next super-hippie-indie-rock-y adventure, I realized that what I really needed was one list. A list that compared not only locations and dates, but also prices of the various festivals spreading good vibes and sweet music throughout the summer. So, I’m going to create it. Here is the first installment of my semi-comprehensive list of the major (and minor) music festivals still to come this summer: the Midwest.
So bust out the flowy skirts, a nice pair of Birkenstocks and some moonshine and hit the road. And act fast, cause most ticket prices increase the longer you wait to buy them.

When your summer internship has ceased to become a refreshing break from academia and you start feeling a little like Kerouac and begin to dream of the open road, perhaps it’s time to fold your power-suit for the weekend and hit up a summer music festival, not just any summer music festival, Bonnaroo in particular. Like most of you, missing Coachella broke my heart, but that gaping hole can be eased with a little sun, gas station snackage, and a weekend of dancing your little feet off until you can stuff them back into heels for the office.
Bonnaroo: June 14-17, Manchester, Tennessee
Do you ever wish you should stumble through makeshift tents erected out of multi-colored tapestries interspersed with North Face nylon numbers, reeking of red wine, special brownie crumbs on your dirty t-shirt, a blunt in one hand and a delicious vegan burrito in the other? Well you best get packing and head down to Tennessee to join the throngs of drug addled music lovers. Read More »
