And this week I learn how easy it is to write about music I’m crazy obsessed with. I was so beyond-words excited about the new releases this week that I basically wanted to tell you about every song, transcribe all the lyrics, and somehow hum the tunes onto the computer screen so that you’d get the full effect. But I tried to restrain myself a little bit.
And It wasn’t easy.
I really wanted to personally ship every one of you each of these albums because I’m pretty sure you can’t live without them. But unfortunately, I’m not rich enough for that. So maybe you could just take my word for it and have a listen yourself? I’m not saying they’ll change your life, but….well, they might change your life. Read More »

Ooh, the anticipation! Some of my most-liked bands are back with new releases this week. And considering I’m already a fan of them, they all have a lot to live up to. So, will they make me remember why I love them so much or will they crush my hopes?
Well, a little bit of both actually.
I’m the kind of person who is good at finding the good in everything; and I found a lot of good in each of my selections this week. Each also had a little bit of not so hot, but in case you were wondering, I’m not even close to deleting any of them off my iTunes. None of them were my absolute favorite albums the artists have put out, but I’m loving them nonetheless. Read More »

One thing this week’s new music releases have in common is that they’re engaging. Seriously engaging. I laughed. I cried. I nodded my head in agreement. OK, so maybe I didn’t cry – except when I heard the cheesiest song ever – but I laughed a lot.
And considering this week is Valentine’s week, The Lonely Island’s Incredibad may be just the music you need to get you out of your gloom and get ROFLing. Lily Allen’s new album will help you realize you aren’t alone in that crazy dating world. And Ryan Leslie will make you want to groove with your honey, if you do in fact have one. Just, whatever you do, don’t listen to his “Valentine.” Trust me. Read More »

When she’s not telling the world how much she loves Samantha Ronson, Lindsay Lohan is doing what is sometimes called “acting” in front of cameras. Her newest “film”, Labor Pains, just came out with a trailer, and from the looks of things, seems slated to be one of the most boring movies ever created.
Girl must pretend to be pregnant to keep her job. Lindsay Lohan wears fake belly. Good God. I just…can’t…stop…laughing.
Watch the trailer. And then let us know how much money you put on this movie tanking like a bath tub full of bricks.

Still love Kelly Clarkson despite her recent concert cancellations and rumors of a sucky CD? Me too. That’s why I was happy to find out MTV’s The Leak has her new album in it’s entirety for our listening pleasure.
As someone who’s not the biggest pop music fan but feels an inexplicable love for Ms. K, I gotta say that I like this album. The third track, “Hole” is about as hard rock as any female pop vocalist has gone in a long time, and Clarkson is no slave to inane hooks. Say what you will, but I’ll take an interesting song over something that repeats itself 7 times any day. And with lyrics like “It seems every time I find a good man / He’s got a good little wife / I’m not jealous but I won’t lie / I don’t want to hear about your wonderful life” “How I Feel” is a great song to yell to alone in your room, espescially if you’re single.
“Sober” is her apparent new single, and although it’s pretty much your standard pop-ballad fare, her voice is expressive enough to make you believe every word she sings. And I still don’t know how she hits those high notes with the force she does. You try it on your own and you end up screeching, but somehow K. Clarkson rocks them. Every time. Even in concert.
