“The Learjet 60 crashed on takeoff at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport at 11:53 p.m. Friday” and both Barker and Goldstein were transported to the Joseph Still Burn Center, in Augusta, Georgia, suffering “extensive burns”.

Although earlier reports feared musicians Gavin DeGraw and Perry Ferrell were on the plane as well, those facts have proven to be false at this time.

While it’s unclear what caused the crash, authorities say they saw sparks “coming off the runway” during take-off.

Update 1:24PM: The deceased have been identified as pilot Sarah Lemmon, 31, of Anaheim Hills, CA co-pilot James Bland, 52, of Carlsbad, CA, Chris Baker, 29, of Studio City, CA, and Charles Still, 25 of Los Angeles, CA. Chris Baker was Travis’ assistant.

I can’t believe that we Americans will actually tune in to the lives of nutjobs like the Lohans, the Kardashians, and now, some hooker who happened to win the jackpot.

When Tila Tequila burst on the scene, she had a great gimmick: the first bisexual reality dating show. But after the Bobby Banhart breakup-scandal, and oh-so-predictable opposite-gender-choosing finale in season 2, there’s not much buzz left in Tequilaville. Bring in the hooker! If you thought Tila’s patented, “How will your parents react when they find out I’m bisexual?” act starts to get old, imagine the “How will your parents react when they find out I’m the whore that ruined Eliot Spitzer’s career?” segment.

Yes, Handprint Entertainment, the fine folks who bring the lives of Pamela Anderson and Nicole Ritchie to the small screen, are in talks with MTV to give Ashley Dupre a shot at love. Monica Lewinski must be green with envy. Sure, she got a book deal, but she could have found “true love” in front of millions of strangers, and the producers would probably have thrown in a mansion as well!

If the dating show falls through, I’d like to pitch some backup ideas to Dupre’s new producers:

1. Dupre’s Deal or No Deal- Combination dating-slash-game show: Dupre’s bachelors be able to buy some sex after their “one-on-one” dates. But what about after elimination?

2. Hooker and the Geek- 10 prostitutes and 10 geeks are paired up to learn from each other. The geeks teach the girls financial skills and politics (so they can find themselves their own Spitzer prototype), and, well, you can guess how the ladies reciprocate.

3. What Not to Wear: Escort Edition- I think the name says it all.

4. Real World: The Brothel- This is the true story of seven pimps and prostitutes picked to live in a house…

5. Are You Smarter than a Harlot?- Jeff Foxworthy would host this one for free!

6. The Slutty-real Life- Okay, so my Surreal Life pun needs work. But they can invite back reality skanks Trishelle Cannatella and Adrianne Curry, and let the STD’s begin!

Shows that probably won’t end up in TV Guide: Made: I Want to Have Sex for Money; So You Think You Can Screw; Celebrity F*** Club.

If programming catapults Ashley Dupre to the top of the celebutante ladder, why stop there? Throw in a record deal! If Brooke Hogan and Heidi Montag can cut an album, it might be a charttopping success! They can also add a movie deal, creating a modernized version of Pretty Woman… but in the end, instead of Richard Gere showing up with a limo, a money-hungry producer shows up with a TV contract.

Seriously, though, where are we going to go when this novelty wears off? How dirty is reality television going to get before draw the line? How many talentless nymphomaniacs are going to get rich while we struggle to pay off our student loans? I, personally, am sick of seeing these women re-objectify the gender every week and make a bad name for sexually liberated women who don’t need the cameras rolling 24/7. I prefer my walks of shame to go unrecorded, thank you very much.

Let’s first discuss the implications of what it means to have a mini-Paris walking around. Ew, for one. But also, is this chick seriously trying to clone herself to be Nicole Ritchie? First, she hops on the Madden boy train, then onto their tour bus with them, then onto various TV shows where she claims he is the person she is going to marry, (because they’ve been together oh so long and all) and now she could potentially be knocked up?

I can just picture it now: little Paris Jr. walking around Beverly hills with a miniature Chihuahua, blonde hair swept to the side like mommy’s, fighting off photogs with her signature pose, that will be dubbed, “the mini-Pari”.

If that happens, I am moving to Mars.

Now, the alternative. Why is Hollywood so convinced that everyone in clothes that actually fit them properly – versus the tight, barely able to breathe ensembles – is packing a little munchkin in their tummy? Albeit Ashlee Simpson was with Wentz child after all (duh!), but not everyone is trying to hide something under their bohemian, flowing outfits. Maybe Paris is just trying out a new style, the same way she did with the butchered blonde bob she’s been trying to grow back since the disaster that was the haircut happened.

I’m going to hope for the latter on this one, for the sake of my sanity and the future of mankind. I can just see it now, Paris pops out a little Madden and looks deeply into her childs eyes and says, “You’re SO hot! Let me tell me about that time I was in the slammer!”

Since that day I’ve noticed that, more often than not, Renata is right – it’s easier to look chic if you’re slender. There are examples of this all over Hollywood. Consider Exhibit A, Hilary Duff. Back in the day, H. Duffs was a cute kid who certainly wasn’t fat, but definitely didn’t have that sleek boney look that we associate with Hollywood starlets. She was filled-out, normal-looking. Then one day she dropped about fifteen pounds, and all of a sudden she looked…glamorous. Elegant. Less like a kid and more like a chic fashionista woman. And while gossip magazines and news reports condemned her for looking sickly and setting a bad example for girls, she was still appearing on the cover of high-fashion magazines and being featured in designer ads like never before.

Because skinny = style.

We can attribute this national mentality to the media: for years, models and stars have gotten thinner and thinner until they’ve reached the point where many of them are barely more than skeletons wearing skin-suits. The image of ultimate high fashion that we’re presented with is that of the mutant waif, forty pounds thinner than an average person of the same height, gliding around A-list events like an apparition wearing Proenza Schouler. But why? What made the Fashion Powers That Be decide that scrawny is synonymous with chic?

I’ve come to the conclusion it’s a little thing I like to call the Clothes Hanger Effect. Once while watching a piece on the Today show about Nicole Ritchie being named Best Dressed by People magazine, the “style expert” guest commenting on the piece made mention of the fact that, since losing all that weight, Nicole Ritchie has become not much more than a hanger for designer clothing. And if you look at pictures of her, this is definitely true; the girl has no hips, tiny tits, no figure to “interfere” with the lines of the garment. It’s like she’s a walking outfit armature instead of a person. It’s the same thing on the runway. Ninety-nine percent of the time, models look nothing like women and more like weirdo mannequins. They’re gaunt, pale, washed out, alien; but damn, look at how great that Stella McCartney dress looks!

Now, I’m not trying to condemn skinny girls by any means. If you’re a skinny girl, and you like being a skinny girl, rock on. Being happy and comfortable with your body is what it’s all about (or so they tell me in 7th grade sex-ed). I’m just saying that next time you look at pictures of the Olsen twins and start berating yourself for eating that burrito last night, stop and ask yourself; am I a woman, or an aspiring clothes hanger?

Not only are their stick thin bodies unattractive, but a new study reported on in The New York Times shows that young women who are consuming too few calories could be putting their bones at risk. I know that seems like an issue you won’t need to deal with till later in life, but come on, who really wants to end up looking like this because of weak bones?

The study found that even girls who still had their periods regularly were still not consuming enough calories and endangering their bone health.

“The study, by Anne Loucks and Aiden Shearer of Ohio University, looked at the role of nutrient intake and bone formation in women ages 18 to 32. For five days, the researchers restricted the women’s caloric intake and had them exercise for more than an hour and a half each day…When the researchers drew volunteers’ blood at the end of the five days, they found decreased levels of two markers for bone formation.”

The results from the study are not a total surprise, and mainly reinforce the fact that extreme dieting or starving yourself really will affect you in the long run. Although you may get immediate gratification from the loss of a few pounds, it can affect you in so many ways later in life that just don’t seem to be worth it.

Go eat a sandwich!

Tis the season for celebrity breakups. First, John and Jess split, and now, multiple sources are reporting that Nicole Ritchie and Joel Madden have ended their relationship.

Finally, is all I have to say. I was never a fan of this couple due to their immediate hookup after Madden’s break up with sweet, innocent, Hilary Duff. I think it was an inevitable end to a hookup that was basically a rebound for the rocker.

Supposedly they broke up on a recent trip to Australia and Madden dumped her for being “too clingy.” Of course she is clingy…One sudden gust of wind would knock her tiny body right over. Who else would she have to hold onto?

All joking aside, perezhilton has also been reporting rumors of their split for the past couple days, and pointed out that they have not been seen together since their return.

Sionara Ritchie and Madden, you won’t be missed!

Well, this actually might not be true. According to a recent Associated Press article, thin people might actually have a lot of internal fat surrounding organs. This kind of fat could be just as dangerous as external fat. Yes, finally, sweet justice for all normal sized girls. You skinny minis could be have just as much fat on the inside. HA.

“According to the data, people who maintain their weight through diet rather than exercise are likely to have major deposits of internal fat, even if they are otherwise slim. ‘The whole concept of being fat needs to be redefined,’ said Bell, whose research is funded by Britain’s Medical Research Council.”

Holler. I agree with this Bell guy. If this research is true, then using the term “fat” could refer to a lot of things. This is definitely an interesting concept to ponder…Maybe someone should inform Nicole Ritchie or Mary Kate about the news!

Page Six reports, “The E! series isn’t calling it a “fat camp” – reps for the show say it’s a “wellness camp focused on eating right, yoga, nutrition and exercise.” If the producers of this show think that Paris and Nicole strutting around in tiny shorts are going to make the fat campers want to do anything but go vomit and use illegal substances to shed some weight, they are severely mistaken.

I have to admit that it’s a brilliant marketing ploy by the creators of the show because nothing could be more ironic than these two actually attempting to give advice on how to live a healthy lifestyle.
