Hey, time-line haters, there’s still hope for you if you want to recover the classic Facebook layout. All you have to do is move to Russia! Yeah, sorry, not so simple. Introducing VK.com, Russia’s largest social networking site. It has more users than Facebook in Russia, but it’s basically a knockoff of Facebook circa 2006. You know, the really old school layout. With the status update box that still says “Garnet is…” and the good old “wall.”

So the original Facebook isn’t gone, it just relocated to Russia. We don’t quite understand all the hate directed toward Facebook’s new time-line profiles, but seeing the old layout did make us a bit nostalgic. We started to wonder if some of the other classic things we had when growing up have also moved over to Russia. Maybe our 90s/early 2000s favorites aren’t gone after all! Here are 9 things we hope still exist in Russia.

I’m probably one of the most nostalgic people you’ll ever meet. I love to go back to the past and relive simpler times. Reminiscing with friends about great moments, laughing about the funny things we used to do…bring it on! It just feels good. I know some say that nostalgia is just a form of denial, but it’s not like I am denying the present. I know where I am and I’m living in the now, but I don’t see what’s so wrong in dialing back a little sometimes and taking a trip down memory lane.

Now in the spirit of the past, I’ve been thinking a lot about old gadgets, fads and concepts from when we were kids that don’t exist anymore. Even kids who are 13 right now probably won’t have heard of the things that made up my childhood, which makes me feel sad and old. I wanted to compile a list of some of the things that we all grew up with that don’t even exist anymore or will soon be extinct with each new iPad that comes out.

Has anyone else noticed that most TV shows we watch now don’t have theme songs like they did in “the old days?” I completely forgot that TV show theme songs even ever existed. I remember singing along with my sisters as we waited patiently for our favorite shows to start. As soon as we heard the first notes of the telltale opening song, something magical happened.

Listening to these theme songs again, I’m reminded of the age I was at when I watched all of these shows. Rugrats? Eight. The OC? Fifteen (I watched them all on DVD way after the show was over.) Here are a few theme songs that will forever remind us of our favorite shows from the past…

Oh, how I loved (and hated) middle school. Today on twitter, #middleschoolmemories is a trending topic. I mainly thought of hard tail skirts and plastic bracelets as my #middleschoolmemories but there are some other ones that floating around that are very, very true. Week long relationships? Yes. The ban on heelys? Yes. Middle school seemed so long ago but reading all of these #middleschoolmemories tweets definitely makes me nostalgic for the times when everything was just so much easier.

Here’s the twenty #middleschoolmemories tweets that really stood out for me:

If you're feeling a little down in the dumps about your age these days, don't worry, it's just seasonal depression. But seriously, with the holidays rolling in and your Christmas list looking a little slim, there's nothing that'll make you feel as young as a trip down memory lane with snapshots of the exciting, play-pretend kid you used to be.

Doesn’t growing up suck?

It’s like when I turned 21, I had reached the point in my life where I stopped telling everyone that I couldn’t wait to grow up, and instead started looking for ways to roll the clock back on my years.

The holidays only make it worse for me. Instead of screaming from excitement because Santa brought me the Polly Pocket that I wanted, I now stare into the pit of my stocking where my mom put socks for me. Socks. The worst part of it all? I asked her to get me socks. Because I needed them. Because when you get old, practicality trumps pretend.

If you’re feeling a little down in the dumps about your age these days, don’t worry, it’s just seasonal depression. But seriously, with the holidays rolling in and your Christmas list looking a little slim, there’s nothing that’ll make you feel as young as a trip down memory lane with snapshots of the exciting, play-pretend kid you used to be.

So, go on, put your feet up on the table – because you’re the only grownup in the room that cares – and while you’re at it, pour yourself a big glass of wine. Because if you’ve got to be old, you might as well be old and buzzed.

Am I right or am I right?

Somewhere between adolescence and teenagedom we got rid of our childhood lessons in order to make room for Cosmo knowledge. But there are key lessons we learned as youngsters that we should bring back into our lives now.

Well, that lesson is still applicable. Diseases like herpes can be passed from oral contact, and even if you’re not going below-the-belt, you can still spend a semester bedridden from mono. This is college -- it’s too big of a community to know who’s hooked up with who, so err on the side of caution and be well-informed when hooking up.
Not only will this help you avoid the freshman 15, which is not a myth, but it will help you to stay healthy.
If I could go to a Bat Mitzvah every weekend for the rest of my life, I would. Those were the glory days. Personalized everything, sundae bars, extremely awful DJs, and everyone in their pubescent splendor.

You remember: it’s 7th grade. You have braces. Low by Lil John is playing and you’re doing your best imitation of Beyonce in the Crazy In Love music video. You’re most likely wearing a fold over skirt and Tiffany’s bracelet (imitation or real). Suddenly Low finishes and Heaven by DJ Sammy, Candlelight Mix, comes on. Everyone’s pairing off to awkwardly sway with one another, about three feet apart. But suddenly you notice there’s no line for the photo booth and it’s either now or never. This dilemma was a weekly thing in middle school.
