Sometimes it seems like the internet was invented for shopping. Nowadays some stores have gotten so in to the online, that they are there exclusively. That’s right, you can’t buy it in stores because they don’t have one!

It’s pretty revolutionary if you ask me, considering someday we will do everything on the internet…and have robots…and flying cars — I digress.

It’s common knowledge among anyone who knows me (or anyone who reads my posts) that I’m an online shopping addict. But I can’t afford to buy everything I find online, so I’m always on the lookout for great deals. If I find something I really like, I’ll keep checking back until there’s a sale or it goes on clearance. Now there’s a web app that does the work for me!

Salemarked helps you keep track of the selling price of your favorite items — and it couldn’t be easier to use!

First, sign up for an account and drag the bookmarklet to your browser’s toolbar. Then, just online shop as normal. Once you find something you just love but want to wait until it goes on sale to buy, click the bookmarklet or paste the URL directly into your Salemarked dashboard and note how much you’d be willing to pay for that item. That’s it!

Once the item drops to (or below) your desired price, Salemarked will email you immediately! You can also check an item’s current selling price via your dashboard on the site.

I’ve already marked a few potential NYE dresses and I’m planning to buy whichever one goes on sale first — and thanks to Salemarked, I’ll know as soon as it happens!

Ever since high school, it seems like we all have at least one occasion every year — whether it’s a formal, wedding or just a fancy party — where we can get all dressed up. And while it’s fun to dress up now and then, it can get expensive to have to buy a new dress for every event. And what about the dresses from past events? Most of mine are just hanging in my closet and have only been worn one other time, if at all!

A newly launched website seeks to fix these problems. Closet Shark is a site where women can buy, sell or trade their gently used formalwear.

It’s a great way to clean out your closet by getting rid of your old prom and homecoming dresses that you’ll never wear again, while making a little bit of money back in the process!

And since there are other women using the site who are trying to get rid of their old dresses as well, you can even score a new dress for cheap for your next event or girl’s night out!

There are dresses for every formal occasion on Closet Shark! There are prom and homecoming dresses, as well as Quinceañera, Sweet 16, bridesmaid and even wedding gowns!

I’ll definitely be digging through the back of my closet to see if there’s anything worth trying to sell on Closet Shark and checking it before my next big event!

Websites like Etsy are great for many reasons. Because you can apparently scour some cheap and stylish finds as well as find some…less traditional items. From a Beyonce-inspired clay doll to a sperm-print bedspread, here are some of the weirdest finds on Etsy.

I know I’m not alone when I say that I spend way too long trying to decide what to wear in the mornings. Well, thanks to an awesome site called Closet Couture, getting dressed in the morning just got a whole lot easier.

Instead of standing in front of your closet for trying to decide on an outfit, let Closet Couture help you out! Closet Couture lets you build a virtual closet from items on the web or from items you already have in your actual physical closet (just upload the picture to the site)!

Once you’ve created your virtual closet, you can create outfits and post them to the site. Not only is this a great way to store outfits you like to reference on days that you’re feeling uninspired, you can also get feedback from other Closet Couture users and get ideas from outfits they post!

Another really awesome feature of Closet Couture is that you can hire a professional stylist from their network to help you create outfits from what you already have in your virtual closet. Prices start at just $25 for one outfit/event and go up from there, but it’s a really neat option — especially for those times when it feels like you have nothing to wear.

I’m still working on building my “closet,” but I’m already super excited about all the fun I’m going to have building outfits with Closet Couture! I always dreamed of having Cher’s awesome closet from Clueless (what girl didn’t?), and Closet Couture is as close as I’ll ever get to having it (until I make my millions, that is)!

OpenSky is a social networking shopping site that allows you to discover great new products, often at great prices. When you join OpenSky, you can choose up to 10 of the site’s celebrity and blogger “curators” to follow, including chef Bobby Flay, actresses Molly Sims and Alicia Silverstone, and fashion designer Cynthia Rowley, to name a few. The curators choose their favorite products to share with their followers, who have the option to purchase the items at up to 60% off! Every week, you’ll get emails from the curators you follow alerting you of their newest must-have product for sale on their OpenSky page, and you can also browse the site to see what other curators are offering, although you’ll have to follow a particular curator in order to see their featured sales.

Another great feature of OpenSky is the fact the products in your curator’s collections aren’t just available for a few days or hours, like they might be on other sales sites. So if you’re debating on whether to purchase something, you have time to think about it without having to worry that the deal will disappear tomorrow. Also, since you choose who you want to follow, your OpenSky emails will feature products that are actually relevant to you, and you won’t be flooded with tons of random products on a daily basis.

What I really love about OpenSky is reading what the curators have to say about each product they feature and why they love it. It really takes away the guesswork that sometimes goes along with online shopping, since you’re getting personal insight on what makes the product great.

Right now there tons of great products available for purchase on OpenSky, but a few that I’m really loving are a traditional Mexican molcajete (mortar and pestle) featured by Bobby Flay, some pretty bracelets from supermodel Veronica Webb, and some recycled metal earrings recommended by EcoStiletto.com. And there are new food, style, health, and design products being added on a daily basis, so I’m sure I’m going to find something else I want tomorrow (and every other day after that)!

Hiring a decorator to trick-out your campus living quarters might come across as a tad eccentric. Not to mention a little out of our meager price ranges.

All hail the Internet, our default solutions provider. Dormify.com, an online boutique providing modern dorm room decor and accessories, just launched an e-shopping site for the Nate Berkus in every college student.

This DC-based company puts style within reach. The site serves as both a design inspiration tool and a shopping destination, featuring products specifically geared toward us: stylish bedding, organized storage options, plus unique wall prints and decals. It stocks a variety of lines from over 15 acclaimed companies, including Dwell Studios, Jonathan Adler, Alexandra Ferguson and Blissliving Home.

In addition, the portal offers an easy-to-use gift registry for soon-to-be grads, a wish list tool for design enthusiasts, and an aspirational blog chock-full of interior design tips and tricks from style savvy students themselves.

Yeah, we might have just moved out of the dorms but it’s never too early to start pimping out our rooms for next year. And really, what else do you have to do all day at that summer internship?

These three websites are, hands down, the most clicked bookmarks on my Safari page. Like most people, I have my allotted time throughout the day where I routinely check my Facebook News Feed and update my Twitter. It is almost automatic that I then click to Urban and check out what’s new on sale. And then buy it all. Woops?

Online shopping has become almost a hobby as it is almost too convenient to scroll through an entire store, easily click the size you want for a cute shirt and have it shipped in a few days. Yet in a world where there’s an unlimited amount of online stores to shop at, how do you know which ones to skip over and which ones are worth looking at? Leave it to me to tell you the websites with the best sales, free shipping, and cutest clothes!

Behold: the holy grail of online shopping.

So here a few ideas to make those 24 hours blissful and entertaining!

1. Go on a reality TV binges
There’s really so much to choose from. Jersey Shore, My Life As Liz, or my personal favorite, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, or any other offshoot of that show that has to do with the Kardashians. (I simply love that family. They’re just too entertaining. It should be illegal…but I’m really glad it’s not.) There’s really nothing better than watching impossibly raunchy boys, a strong-willed indie redhead, or amazingly chic girls while lazing about on the couch with a bag of chips and a blanket. Nothing.

2. Check out a buy one, get one free at H&M
“Buy one get one,” “free,” and “sale” are three of my favorite phrases. They’re even better when they’re applied to stores I actually like shopping at! Like H&M, for example. Have you seen their spring line?! Gorgeous. Plus, they’re always having sales and discounts (and I’m sure they’re running an Easter sale today), so it’s hard not to feed into the shopping frenzy that leaves your wallet lighter and your hands heavier (bags don’t carry themselves, you know). Clothing is a necessity, after all!

3. Run to the jewelry sale at Anthropologie
Anthropologie, for a poor student like myself, is such a tease. Thankfully, their jewelry is always being updated with new shipments so their old jewelry that didn’t sell goes on SALE. For instance, I am now the proud (and fabulous) owner of the most beautiful necklace ever and I couldn’t be happier. It’s finally affordable! I strongly suggest you put on some pants, brush your teeth and find the nearest store. You will not be disappointed!

4. Plan a movie marathon
Remember the oldies? They’re the best. Mean Girls, Never Been Kissed, John Tucker Must Die… All fantastic options for Good Friday. (Here are some more great line ups to put a smile on your face.) Add in chocolate popcorn, friends, and a huge TV and you’ve got yourself the perfect scene to do absolutely nothing and still have a great time. (Plus, I’ve tried that chocolate popcorn recipe with DELICIOUS success!)

5. Bake something delicious
What can be more comforting, relaxing, and endorphin-inducing than freshly baked brownies, cookies, or cupcakes? Plus, it just makes the air around these baked goods smell so heavenly. Need some inspiration? Check out all our super easy college-dorm-friendly recipes!

6. Watch the Entire Season of Pretty Little Liars
If you’re like me, you’ve already seen the entire season of Pretty Little Liars… and probably re-watched a bunch of episodes. But if you’re also like me,  you never saw all the episodes at once. (College is not very conducive to my TV-watching habits.) So here’s your chance! One day to just watch the entire season at once with no interruptions! And if you haven’t seen this show yet, you must. It’s the best of drama, fashion, and life lessons about family, friends, and love that you’ll ever find.

7. Give yourself a spa day
I don’t know about you privileged people, but when I get stressed, like right about now since the semester is ending, I get really terrible skin. It’s gross. That’s why Good Friday is perfect for a spa day! It’ll get you all refreshed for the weekend and erase all the work and stress you had to endure earlier that week. Between masks and hot stone massages and calming music, you’ll have no choice but to unwind and enjoy life. Even if it’s just for a few minutes! And it doesn’t have to break the bank because we have great DIY dorm room spa ideas.

8. Play boardgames in your PJ’s
I know what you’re thinking: lame. But recapturing your childhood and lazing about is the BEST way to forget about present troubles, like school and friends and family and whatever else is causing stress in your life. (Read: boys.) Plus, who doesn’t have fond memories of Scrabble, Taboo, and Monopoly?

9. Go on an Online Shopping Bonanza
One of my vices, besides pizza and lipstick, is online shopping. I. Love. Online. Shopping. Love it. Between Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Nasty Gal, and Topshop, I can easily kill 5-8 hours of time. There’s just so much to look at! And of course there’s the ease of shopping from the comfort of your Hello Kitty shorts and plush pillows. Instant happiness!

10. Read Lolita
I know, I know. Reading doesn’t sound like the best way to spend 24 hours of stress-less freedom. But trust me, it is! Lolita, if you haven’t read it, is a scintillating tale an European intellectual struggling with memories of a lost adolescent love. Scandalous, right? Not only is it erotic, romantic, lyrical, and funny, it’s also one of the books a lot of professors and colleges suggest you should read! So not only is it entertaining, it’s educational! And who doesn’t like a little scandalous romance…?

And if none of that works, there’s always this.

Happy sigh. Just listing all these things is already putting me in a better mood. What will you be doing to make this a GREAT Friday?

We all have our go-to stores that we, uh, go to when we need to stock up on some new wardrobe essentials (or when we just have an hour to kill and the mall reaches out and wraps us in its warm embrace). But what about all those other stores? The ones that you walk past on your way to Auntie Anne’s without a second glance? The “mom” stores, the old lady  department stores, the stores that don’t start with “Forever” and end with “21″? Surprise! Many of those stores are filled with major cuteness that you’re missing out on! (Except Chico’s – keep walking, little lady.) We know you’re not one to pass up a cute cami, so we scoured these under-the-radar shops and pulled out all the goodness you never realized existed.

When you hear LL Bean, what comes to mind? For me it’s hunting gear and unbreakable, sturdy (read: ugly) shoes, neither of which I want in my closet. In fact, the last thing I got from LL Bean was one of those backpacks that had my initials stitched into it. And that was 5 years ago. I never considered that they made clothes and when I found out they did, I just assumed their racks were overflowing with flannel and bright orange.

But to my surprise, and probably yours, they have some really cute clothes. And though they do still sell mom jeans, some of these new clothing options balance out the kakhi-tastic high waistedness of yesteryear. Not to mention most of their products come with lifetime warranties. And if that doesn’t make you want to start reaching for your plastic, some of these options will.
