We couldn’t help but think of the “Bed Intruder” when we heard baby stores were going on a Snooki alert. “She’s climbing in yo windows, she’s smooshed all of yo guidos, now she’s a knocked up bimbo…Hide your bibs, hide your wipes, hide your bibs, hide your wipes…” It works, no?

Now that Oprah’s off the air (well, not really– she just decided to start her own TV network instead), I’m starting to wonder who will take her place as an overwhelming wealthy woman who uses her resources and media presence for good. Sure, no one will ever replace Ms. Winfrey, but I sure hope she’s not the last woman to inspire and help the world to the extent that Oprah did. Even if they don’t land their own talk show, there’s a handful of well-known women who I know I’d have no problem sitting across from and telling my life story to.

Whenever a celebrity does something stupid, they often end up begging for forgiveness on Oprah’s sofa — but not John Mayer. Apparently he’s going to have to find someone else’s shoulder to cry on, because the talk show queen is refusing to have the attention-seeking singer on her set. Oh, Johnny-boy, you know you’ve done bad when Oprah won’t let you boost her show’s ratings!

Look who's on top of the world now, Oprah!

The International Olympic Committee’s votes are in, and despite the best efforts of Americans—including Oprah and President Obama—Chicago will not be hosting the summer games in 2016. Instead, that honor is going to Rio de Janeiro.

Let me repeat that: the International Olympic Committee snubbed Oprah Winfrey and Barack Obama, probably the two most powerful people in the United States—maybe even the world. Chi-town got knocked out in the very first round of voting. What the hell, IOC? Who turns down Oprahbama? (On the flip side – why didn’t Oprah give the entire committee “A NEW CARRRRR!!” to sway their votes?)  Unless Rio somehow hypnotized the judges by having a bevy of hot Brazilian models stun them into submission, I cry shenanigans on this whole thing.

Okay, maybe it’s a little ridiculous that the Olympics have never taken place in a South American city. And I guess it hasn’t been very long since the US last hosted an Olympics in 2002. But come on. Salt Lake City, home of approximately four zillion Mormons and not much else, gets the Winter Games, but Chicago, the third-largest city in the nation and the birthplace of life-changing inventions like softball and deep dish pizza, gets the shaft? And for Rio de Janeiro, land of perpetual Carnival? The athletes are going to be too hung over to even compete!

On a more serious note, the city is also notorious for drug trafficking and violence: in 2007, there were nearly 30 homicides a week in Rio. The Olympics have already been a lightning rod for danger—think about the bombings in Atlanta in 1996, or the massacre in Munich in 1972—and holding the games in a city that’s already volatile just seems like a recipe for disaster. Wouldn’t Chicago, where the winds are strong but the people are mild mannered and stuffed to the gills with hot dogs, have been a safer choice?

Enjoy Rio, people. Just hold onto your purses.

Just recently, the Army made Sgt. Maj. Teresa L. King the first female drill sergeant. No woman has ever held this top position. Another leap for womankind.

It made me think about all the women who have paved the way for King and the rest of us to reach great heights. As we sift through homework assignments and curse the injustice of thesis papers, we should take a time-out to gain inspiration from those who have already made it to where we want to be.

My bookshelf contains every single one of Oprah’s Book Club recommendations.  She is my lifestyle guru, and her talk show has gotten me through some dark times. Not only has she been ranked as one of the world’s most powerful women by CNN and Time.com, but she’s also one seriously cool lady. She inspires all of us to live our best life and share what we have with those around us. I always find myself asking, “WWOD?” And every time, it’s something that makes me a better person and my life a little more enriched.

Carol Bartz is the CEO of Yahoo! It may be no Google, but Yahoo is the second most visited internet search engine, and I’d say Bartz is doing pretty well for herself. Whoever said the business world was exclusively for men. I’d like to see you manage Yahoo! better than this bad-ass business woman.

Anna Wintour is the editor-in-chief of American Vogue and has been since 1988.  Whatever she sees behind her trademark sunglasses turns into fashion gold. She is considered one of the most powerful people in fashion. If Anna says pea-green is the new black, well you better listen.

Michelle Obama
Apparently it only takes a few months for the country to fall in love, because Michelle Obama has stolen the hearts of the entire nation since her induction as First Lady.  A wife, mother and business woman, the Michelle has already taken a strong stance on women’s right and diversity. I’m not afraid to admit that I have a definite girl crush on Mrs. Obama. She is the perfect role model for young women today.

From First Lady to first female drill sergeant, women are cementing their place in history. And you are only one college career away from joining them in the ranks of greatness.  So whoever said: “You can always retake the test. You can never relive the party,” obviously never got their own talk show.

No, she’s not preggers. They are adopting.
