Each fall fashion season designers announce a new set of colors, this season we’ve been given jewel-toned hues but one color in particular always graces the catwalk: camel. This color is a classic and a must have for every fall wardrobe. Wear it on any piece from boots to outerwear and you’re instantly autumn-chic.

This color is your key to elegance, whether it’s a little touch like on a belt or a pair of shoes. You can mix it with denim or other hues of the fall like Yves Klein blue or emerald or even a rich lapis.

Camel in combinations is essential for an update to the classic. Black and grey complement the timeless shade well in a chunky sweater to or high-waisted skirt.

Revamp your accessories: Subtle extras like accessories with the camel color are a perfect way to exhibit this trend. A chunky knit scarf and belt add sophistication to a fun colored dress.

One spring staple you might already have in your closet is the trench coat. It’s an essential in a woman’s wardrobe (and one of the 5 spring trends we HAVE to have), and if you buy the right one it will last you for a lifetime. Why does every single woman on earth absolutely need a trench?

For one reason and one reason only: a trench coat will not only get through those gross, rainy days we encounter in the spring, but it will get you through them looking chic, cute and put together.

Done and done.

This year there is an insane variety of trench coats available in every length, color, style and pattern, meaning you’ll have no problem finding one that fits into your personal wardrobe. Or one to covet for the rest of your life, like the Burberry one I included (because you can’t talk trenches without mentioning Burberry), which I would need to start a fund for now to be able to afford it by the time I’m 50. But the thing is, you really don’t need to spend $1,000 on a trench coat to get something classic and quality. In fact, I’m willing to bet most people wouldn’t even be able to pick the Burberry one out of the lineup below. [Editor's Note: I couldn't!]

The wonderful fact is, whether you can spend $30 or $3,000, there’s a trench coat out there with your name on it… and you should get out there and snatch it before the spring showers set in and leave you soggy and frizzy.

If you live anywhere north of Florida, chances are you’ve had to deal with snow this year. I wouldn’t even bat an eyelash if tomorrow the weather folks announced that even our Florida friends were going to get hit with a version of SnOMG . And total side note, apparently we are all VERY excited about the Blizzards of 2011. People on Facebook are eager to come up with their very clever play on words – Snowtorious BIG, Snobama, The Snowtuation?!. It’s like we’ve never even seen this white powdery stuff we call snow before.

But I get it. The weather has been bat sh*t crazy. And totally unpredictable. Sort of like your emotions right around your period. And even though Thundersnow is a fun word to say (especially when said like this: THUNDERSNOOOOOW!!!!) the very cold truth is that actually walking around in Thundersnow is the opposite of fun.

So I figured, what better way to help you prepare to brave the elements than with a way to stay warm yet look cool. Now you can throw a snowball, sip a hot cocoa or trudge through 12 feet of snow and look fabu all at the same time!

I don’t know where you were today, but in the Midwest one thing became very clear: winter is here. Yeah, seeing my breath in my apartment was a pretty good reminder that I need to stock up on gloves and scarves – uh – yesterday. Seriously, after walking outside for 10 minutes, I’m surprised my fingers are still able to type right now. Or that they’re even still attached.

After running home and taking a long, hot shower (sorry, Al Gore) I piled on the sweats and sat down to scout out the best, warmest and, of course, stylin’ winter accessories.

Winter accessories are the best way play with color during the cold months (when your jacket is black, your boots are black, and the snow is black), not to mention an affordable way to switch up your style mid-winter. Because let’s face it: by February you will be VERY sick of wearing that same puffy jacket and boots to class. Throw on a new hat, scarf and gloves and it will spruce up your look and your mood!

Whether you have a black, brown or red coat, here are some great options to keep you toasty this winter.

If You’ve Got a Red Coat…
A colorful coat (which is a major trend this season) with the same solid color gloves, hat and scarf would be color overkill, especially when you consider that bright red nose you’ll have. This little combo keeps the look cohesive without making you look like a frozen tomato from head to toe. Red and grey is a killer combo, which is why I’m obsessed with these gloves. And opting for a beret over a traditional ski cap keeps you looking fresh and cute instead of like a 12-year-old boy.

If You’ve Got a Black Coat…
The black coat is incredibly versatile – duh – but it could really use a little punch. And this scarf/hood combo is just the thing. Ok, so the Hickie Hider it isn’t necessarily budget, but it’s GENIUS. It’s a scarf and hat in one (so, really, it’s actually a pretty good deal) and the bright colors match with almost any jacket (you can wear it with everything – totally worth the price!). Plus, it looks adorbs hanging over the back of your jacket even if you’re not rocking the hood. So whether you are hiding a hickie or are just trying to make it to class without dying from frostbite, this scarf is a must-have. Choose a color found in the scarf and get a solid pair of gloves to match!

If You’ve Got a Brown Coat
I love me some brown and pink. It’s just such an obvious combination that is all at once neutral and totally sweet. I also happen to have a slight obsession with scarves – especially fun ones – because you can wear them to keep warm and then keep them on as an added accessory once you’re all thawed out. If you’re gonna do a fun scarf, keep the other accessories basic but do not match them all. You want to look put together, not like you just picked up some set at your neighborhood mom shop.

If there is one thing I hate this time of year, it’s the realization that pretty soon my iced coffee and flip flops will be replaced with puffy jackets, steaming hot tea and the phrase “I can’t feel my fingers – get me to Florida.”

But there is one thing I love this time of year: fall coats.

You can’t have any ill feelings toward a fall coat. It’s not too cold when you wear them, the trees are pretty, Pumpkin Spice Lattes are in season and they are always so irresistibly cute.

If you live in coat-wearing climates, a great coat is worth spending a little more on because you wear it day in and day out. It’s what most people see you in (i.e. that cute boy walking right next to you on your way to class!) and it’s the best way to cover up a hot-mess-schlumpy outfit. Throw it over sweats and a baggy T-shirt, or the outfit you wore last night and are forced to walk clear across campus in this morning, and everyone will be none the wiser.

[Most guys we know stay up late dreaming of the day they might end up in a giant orgy with beautiful women. We, however, lie awake at night dreaming of a closet full of beautiful clothes. To the left, a wall of shoes. To the right, shelf upon shelf of delicately handcrafted bags organized by color and size.

Sometimes it’s just too cold to go jacketless on a summer night – but that doesn’t mean you have to ruin your perfect summer outfit with a heavy coat, or warm sweater.  While you could chance it, and pray you meet a hot (and chivalrous) man that will keep you warm on those chilly nights, sometimes a girl has to take care of herself.

Fortunately for you take-action girls, there are plenty of cute and cozy coverups that will complete and not clash with your ensemble.  With so many sweaters and jackets, there is a perfect match (or several matches) for every outfit, regardless of your style or budget.  So you don’t have to wait for Prince Charming (because he probably isn’t all that reliable) to keep you warm, because not only can you do it yourself, but you can also look fabulous in the process!

It’s really starting to get cold out there now, but you can stay warm by adding a few furry touches to your wardrobe. Models on the fall runways sported real fur, but faux fur is a more wallet- and animal – friendly option. While it may be a little unrealistic and over the top for a college girl to sport a big fur coat, here are some ways you can subtly slip this trend into your wardrobe:

1) On the hood of your coat/sweatshirt (bonus warmth if it lines the coat too!). This is a really simple way to add some faux fur to your look. Wear it with jeans and your warmest boots.

4. On your head. Winter accessories are another great way to add some fur without looking crazy. Here are a few great faux-fur options.

But the rest of us, the small lowly peons who lust after the goods and then stockpile cheaper offers, are still attempting the seasonal transition from summer to fall.

I have been staring at the fall trends since the last Fashion Week held in the spring, and now I am finally beginning to see the stores stock some of the trends I have been itching to purchase.

And this fall season, the fashions are jacket heavy.

Not coats—not outerwear that is heavy and daunting (for some reason the puff jacket is back..eww), but lightweight jackets that are fun, funky and now complete a once summer turned fall outfit you felt was totally lacking.

This fall, jackets and blazers have taken on every shape and size from schoolboy blazer to nipped in leather to a full and swingy capes and ponchos. This fall, it is not the pattern on the fabric but the fabric itself that has shown precedence.

Velvet, thin buttery leather, and the perfect shade of blue denim: this is what is important. It’s about the cut, the color and the fabric. The jackets of the season are about what looks good on you, what fits your fancy.

These are not showy pieces that are going to go out of style, this is outerwear you will keep—and wear—for years to come.

It truly is a season where the separates are not making the ensemble, but rather the jacket that is pulling it all together.
