Lately, it seems like celebrities are doing things in groups more than usual – one week it was engagements, the next week it was breaking up, and this week, it’s all about babies. Add in some relationship rumors and Britney making yet another comeback, and you’ve got a pretty good week for Hollywood.

A Snow Day Filled With Long Naps

1. Britney’s back, bitches! You didn’t expect her to be gone for long, did you? Britney released her amazing new single, ‘Hold It Against Me’ this week, and it immediately made it to the top of the iTunes charts AND broke radio records. It leaked on Monday afternoon, even though it was supposed to be released at midnight. I, for one, cannot wait for the music video. In more awesome Britney news, she’s rumored to be performing at the Grammys. Yet another reason to watch.

2. Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson are both having babies at the same time. With different people, obviously. Kate announced her unplanned pregnancy with her boyfriend, Matt Bellamy from Muse. I’m guessing this means no A-Rod reunion any time soon. Owen announced he was going to be a father on Monday, Jan. 11, with his girlfriend Jade Buell. Do I hear wedding bells in the future for either of them?

3. Jewel and Tia Mowry AND Selma Blair are pregnant also.At least these two of those three are married, right? Jewel announced her pregnancy with her husband Ty Murray shortly after Owen Wilson did, and Tia Mowry followed close behind. She’s expecting her first child with her husband Cory Hardrict. Congrats and please, let’s not all give them weird names.

4. Justin Bieber and Zac Efron will be among the presenters at the Golden Globes. In an effort to ensure that every teenage girl in America will watch the Golden Globes, they made this announcement. I have to admit I’m pretty excited about it. The Biebs and Zac BOTH presenting? Even though Justin has absolutely nothing to do with movies (although I’m sure he’ll star in one soon enough), this is a pretty good marketing ploy.

5. Are Ryan Philippe and Amanda Seyfried dating? The latest relationship gossip went from Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, to Ryan Reynolds and Sandra Bullock, and now to Ryan Phillippe and Amanda Seyfried. Any other single hot Ryan’s out there that need to be paired up with a cute actress? Anyway, the two have been spotted together looking adorable, and a source told People that “they’re really into each other”. They’d definitely have some cute blonde babies, that’s for sure.

A Snow Day Spent Catching Up On Work

1. You HAVE to watch these hilarious Golden Globe spoofs. Popeater.com put together this amazing list of spoofs of the best movies from 2010. These spoofs are actually hysterical, more so if you’ve seen the movie, obviously. They’ve got Inception, The Social Network, Black Swan, The Fighter, The Town, and Toy Story 3. Ladies, keep yourselves entertained and ready for the Golden Globes.

2. Nicole Kidman admits to using Botox. Well, I mean… obviously.

3. Blake Lively is kind of the luckiest girl ever. She dated Penn Badgley, is pretty much Karl Lagerfeld’s muse, and has been romantically linked to Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds, Adrian Grenier and now… Leonardo DiCaprio. The two were spotted together at a party and the rumors began. Life is just not fair sometimes.

4. A.J. McLean is going back to rehab. He didn’t give any reasons for checking himself back into rehab, but he’s been there twice already for substance abuse and drinking. Aw, A.J…..

5. Pretty Little Liars was picked up for a second season. If you’re not watching this show, please start. It’s kind of awesome.

1. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treaders. Starring Ben Barnes, Georgie Henley and Skandar Keynes.  The third adaptation of C.S. 1. How Do You Know. Starring Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, Paul Rudd, and Jack Nicholson. Lisa doesn’t know what she wants. 1. Little Fockers. Starring Robert DeNiro, Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Teri Polo, and Blythe Danner. A follow up to Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers. Laugh along as Greg, who has been married to Pam for ten years now, once again tries to redeem himself in the eyes of his father-in-law at his twins’ birthday party. Out December 22. Just See It

1. The Tourist. Starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Joie.  A romance turned thriller. Depp plays Frank, an America tourist attempting to mend a broken heart when he meets Jolie. He thinks their acquaintance is an accident. It’s not. Out December 10.  Watch the trailer here.

2. Frankie & Alice. Starring Halle Berry, Stellan Skarsgard, Phylicia Rashad, and Chandra Wilson. The biographical drama tells the story of Frankie Murdoch, who suffered from multiple personality disorder in L.A. in the 1970s. Out December 10. Watch the trailer here.

Recently, she has taken the dive into dating advice-hood and wrote a book full of her own dating tips. Yes, Jennifer Love-Hewitt, a perpetually single Hollywood “star” with a string of bad relationships is offering up advice on how to succeed in the dating world. Ironic? Yes. Disturbing? Just wait.

One piece of J-Love’s sage wisdom? To “vagazzle your vajayjay.” Yes, that’s exactly what you think it is. Ms. Hewitt wants you to bedazzle your goodies. Because nothing says love like a vagina with sequins glued on.

It’s obvious that Jennifer Love Hewitt is not someone any of us should be turning to for dating or love advice. In fact, there are quite a few ladies who probably shouldn’t be starting any Dear Abby columns any time soon. Here are five we should definitely avoid.

Jessica Simpson: There are three things you should keep out of a relationship: bowel dysfunctions, a crazy and clingy father (who makes comments about your boobs), and John Mayer.  This seems to be Jessica Simpson’s ideal love triangle.  This and the fact that she is weary about the diverse qualities of chicken and tuna leaves no reason for her to sprinkle her dating advice around the world.

Heidi Montag: Unless you’re life’s dream is to marry the biggest ass-hat known to man, I wouldn’t really turn to Ms. Montag-Pratt for advice. And if marrying Spencer Pratt isn’t bad enough, girlfriend recently attempted to trick her bearded lover into having children after “forgetting” to take her birth control.  Nothing say’s “healthy relationship” like this one, folks.

Angelina Jolie: Somehow, I am discovering “stealing someone else’s man and following up with a giant litter of children” isn’t valuable dating advice.  Or kissing your own brother.  Or tattooing your boyfriend’s name on your arm. Or wearing a vile of your boyfriend’s blood on your neck. I don’t know – something about that last one just seems really effing creepy a little clingy for my taste.

Britney Spears: Two words: Adnan Ghalib. One hyphenated “word”: K-Fed. Sure, there was a little Justin Timberlake in there at one point, but I’d say taking dating advice from Britney is like taking career advice from Lindsay Lohan. Or birth control advice from Octomom.

Kate Hudson: She has landed herself quite a few hotties (Owen Wilson, Dax Sherpard, Owen Wilson, Lance Armstrong, Owen Wilson, A-Rod, Owen Wilson again!?), but I don’t think any of us are looking for advice on how to break men’s fragile little hearts then go back again and again and again and break them into smaller and smaller bits.

She is the All American Girl, Goldie Hawn’s daughter and my ultimate girl crush. Who is she? Kate Hudson!

My feelings for Kate began to blossom the first time I saw her in Almost Famous and now it’s a full-blown love affair. She has it all: beauty, talent and that precious boy, Ryder Robinson. She steals the show in every movie she’s in from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days to Fool’s Gold.

You almost want to hate her perfect hair, skin and wardrobe, but you can’t! Kate Hudson is the America’s sweetheart and you can’t help but want to sit on a couch and eat takeout with her.

Hudson is sweet and cheery, and that bubbly personality is what draws us to this peppy blonde. In reality I think we could call her our modern day Barbie. She is the blonde babe that every man is after, luring in Chris Robinson, Owen Wilson, Dax Shepard and Lance Armstrong. And why not? This girl has the hottest bod goin’ and she’s made it abundantly clear that she got it the healthy way.

In January she was voted best dressed by Vogue, just another reason why I love her. Her bohemian-yet-glamourous style is totally her own, and she pulls it off perfectly. And it’s not just Vogue (and me, her biggest fan) that thinks so; her style and beauty have been flaunted for years on the cover of magazines from People to Elle.

But, the best and coolest thing about Kate Hudson is that she isn’t some pampered, spoiled star; she actually gives back to the community. Kate started participating in community service projects before 1997 when she graduated from Santa Monica’s Crossroads School. She’s not just doing good deeds because she’s famous – she’s doing them because she cares.

I heart Kate Hudson. For her beauty, style, soul…and for being the cutest mom around.

I’m not afraid to admit I’ve always had a crush on Jennifer Aniston. I can remember back in the day when Friends still ruled TV, I watched an interview with Jen and gal pal Courteney Cox Arquette and immediately found myself crushing. Over the years, my crush has lasted, long after the show ended.

I’m still not over that.

Aniston’s a Style Icon and always look good (even practically naked!). And, hello, she’s freaking 40. Even though she may not be the most adventurous when it comes to fashion, she dresses well for her body, and always looks classy. Plus, this girl knows how to rock a suit!

As well as being super gorgeous, she’s also really down to earth, funny, and has a contagious laugh. If you’ve ever seen her interviewed, it’s hard not to love the girl.

We all know Jennifer for her role as Rachel on Friends, and for “The Rachel,” the popular hairstyle of the 90s, but that was only the start to her uber successful career. The woman is seriously versatile. She’s played a loveable wife and mom in Marley & Me, an angry woman in The Break-Up, and got pretty serious for her role in Derailed. And let’s not forget her most recent role in the movie to avoid this Valentine’s Day — He’s Just Not That Into You.

Of course, we’re all just a little jealous of Jennifer Aniston. She was serenaded with a song written just for her on her birthday by beau (a Guy We Want to Eff), John Mayer. In fact, she’s dated or been linked to many of our favorites: Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, and, oh yeah, Brad Pitt (before Brangelina and their fleet of children).

And despite Jen’s not-so-luck in love, I still love her. In fact, I think I love her more. Who hasn’t fallen for the wrong guy, the bad guy, the guy you thought you could change? Jen’s history with the boys has made her more real and relate-able, and my girl crush is only growing. I’m rooting for her and John Mayer (yes, I love her enough to let her have him), but will be around if she ever needs a shoulder to cry on.

I’m not only on Team Jen; I’m totally crushing on her.

I’m gonna say it: I’m a big sap. Especially when it comes to puppies. There’s something about big, soulful puppy eyes that makes me squeal like a four-year-old. And all that cuddly fur. And those widdle, widdle paws…

But what’s cuter than puppies? Guys who love puppies. A dude who’s totally into playing around with man’s best friend is always effable in my book, cuz you know what? Chances are he’ll be equally as affectionate when he’s rubbing your belly and scratching your back. Prime example: Owen Wilson. His new film Marley and Me opens Christmas Day, and you can bet your (rawhide) bones my butt will be in attendance to see him (and his pup) shake their tails.

It’s not like I needed a cutesy dog movie to want to eff Owen Wilson, though. He has been very high on my radar ever since he appeared in The Royal Tenenbaums, which he co-wrote! (Since he’s a writer, and I’m a writer, clearly we are soulmates. Clearly.) As an actor, he’s been able to master all different varieties of comedy, from the subtlety he expressed in The Royal Tenenbaums to the full-on goofiness of Wedding Crashers. Emotional range is so effable.

Oh, and lets not forget that Owen’s sexiness definitely runs in the family. Score with him and you could count among your buddies his brothers Luke and Andrew, too. Mr. Wilson has been romantically linked to Kate Hudson and, most recently, Jennifer Aniston. I take it he likes blondes. Okay, O, if you ever want to jump ship and get to know eff a brunette, please call me!

Until then, I’ll settle for some effable photos and my vivid fantasies.

There are virtually no female comedic ensembles who can sell movies like these guys can.

In the stand-up circuit, men generally receive the biggest reception. Recently, I went to a stand-up comedy review that featured twenty comics in one night. Of those twenty, only three women took the stage. Three. WTF?

Women are pretty damn funny, so why don’t we get the same appraisal as men get? Films like Old School put the Frat Pack on the map, while the hysterical chick flick The Sweetest Thing flopped at the box office. The Wedding Crashers cast has people rolling in the aisles, while far too many people have never seen Christina Applegate, Cameron Diaz, and Selma Blair sing The Penis Song.

I took this assignment to cover the 5 Funniest Women out there, but quickly realized there is just too much talent to narrow it down so far. That said, what follows is my personal list of five of the wittiest women in the world, along with some honorable mentions. I welcome feedback, comments, and nominations, because I’m sure I’ve missed some ladies that can more than keep up with the boys.

1. Tina Fey

Tina Fey is one of my personal icons, and I give her kudos for becoming Saturday Night Live’s first female head writer. Fey’s writing has earned her a 2001 Writers Guild of America Award for SNL’s 25th anniversary special as well as a 2002 Emmy for the show.

Tina’s script for Mean Girls is distinctive from teen movies in the vein of Can’t Hardly Wait thanks to its satiric critique of high school. I don’t care how old I get; I will probably always find a way to greet someone with “Jambo!”, or a way to work, “Your mom’s chest hair” into a heated argument. Of course, let’s not forget her more recent work on Emmy Award-winning 30 Rock and Baby Mama.

One of my favorite recent Tina Fey bits is the Bitch is the New Black segment from Fey’s recent SNL hosting gig.

2. Wanda Sykes

Some people might equate the sound of Sykes’ voice to nails on a chalkboard, but I think this trait makes her stand out. A longtime colleague of Chris Rock, Sykes served on the writing team for The Chris Rock Show, which was nominated for four Emmys, winning one in 1999. I appreciate Sykes’ ability to add hilarity and sass to supporting roles in films such as Pootie Tang and Down to Earth.

On a personal note, I’ve seen Wanda Sykes’ stand up, and it can hold its own against the likes of male phenom, Chris Rock.

3. Margaret Cho

I think that Margaret Cho is one of the most underrated comedians out there. Her stand up career led to opening acts for Seinfeld and spots on a Bob Hope special and The Arsenio Hall Show. Though she won the American Comedy Award for Best Female Comedian in 1994, this distinction is often overshadowed by her flop sitcom All-American Girl (which I happened to watch religiously for its short cable career). On a side note, I think it’s awesome that Cho has been deputized by the City of San Francisco to perform marriages after same-sex marriage was legalized in California earlier this year. Humor and human rights are a great combination.

If you disagree with my putting Cho on this list, I suggest you watch the video she created with fellow comic Diana Yanez, a viral hit entitled My Puss. Then, Netflix some of her DVDs.

4. Sarah Silverman

I wasn’t impressed with Silverman’s role in School of Rock, but I do applaud her blunt comments at last year’s MTV VMA’s and Movie Awards.

In a couple of days, Paris Hilton is going to jail… As a matter of fact, I heard that to make her feel more comfortable in prison, the guards are going to paint the bars to look like penises. I think it is wrong, too. I just worry she is going to break her teeth on those things

Wow, [Britney Spears] is amazing. I mean, she is 25 years old, and she has already accomplished everything she’s going to accomplish in her life. It’s mind-blowing.

The real reason that Silverman is on this list is… you guessed it: the little gem of a birthday video presented to then-boyfriend Jimmy Kimmel. How do you even think of something like this?

5. Ellen DeGeneres

Part of Ellen’s appeal (for me) is her genuine personality. I know, it’s all about humor here, but Ellen can make people laugh just by dancing around the set of her talk show. In the 1980s, Ellen was dubbed “a distaff version of Bob Newhart,” and won the title of funniest person in America (read: person not just “funniest female“).

In the 1990s, I was a fan of her sitcom Ellen, and of course, in addition to being a great show, Ellen and her show had a monumental impact on the Gay Rights Movement, also earning a 1997 Emmy for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series for the famous “coming out” episode. During the 90′s, Ellen was often referred to as a “female Seinfeld.”

I’m not usually a fan of talk shows, but Ellen’s sincere humor has earned 10 Daytime Emmy Awards. So, go Ellen, and congrats on finally marrying Portia DeRossi!

Honorable Mentions

I really wanted to include Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph in the top five, but thought my obsession with SNL would make for a biased ‘Top Five’ list. Poehler was the first SNL member to be nominated for a Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Emmy, and has loaned her quirky facial expressions to films such as Wet Hot American Summer, Mean Girls, Deuce Bigalow, Blades of Glory, and, of course, Baby Mama. She was the only one “man” enough to take Jimmy Fallon’s spot on Weekend Update, making her and Tina Fey the show’s first female team to host the segment.

As for Maya Rudolph? Come on! She can play just about any gender and any race. Whether playing Oprah Winfrey, Justin Guarini, Mario Vazquez, Christina Aguilera, Paris Hilton, Latoya Jackson, and Donatella Versace, Rudolph is always both convincing and side-splitting. Besides: she can freaking sing!

*Leslie Hall is probably a name you’ve never heard. But I highly recommend checking out some of the work from this satirical rap artist from Iowa who also operates a “gem sweater museum.”

*Natalie Portman is not someone you’d think of when you think of comediennes, but her SNL rap deserves some praise.

I know I’ve left out a lot of noteworthy women, but hey, it’s all relative. So if you disagree, feel free to let me know who you would vote for funniest female!
