Ready for Spring Break? Yes, I am even talking to the 50% of you college students who are staying home this year. And why not? You don’t have to be off in Mexico doing really stupid things to have a good time. You’ve all been working hard and everyone deserves a little down time to let loose with a good book or an even better playlist.
Just because there is a little recession doesn’t mean you can’t have fun too. Or get a tan (and some D). Or, if nothing else, see a really bad movie.
If you are leaving town, don’t forget the essentials to take, the things you absolutely should not take, and the souvenirs you must bring home. And make sure to bring along the beach bag. God forbid you should be stuck on a tropical beach without your Blackberry, Us Weekly, and extra swimsuit.
Oh, and be sure to brush up on everything you need to know about Spring Break survival. Like the fact that everything that happens on Spring Break makes it way back to campus…with tons of exaggeration. Including STIs.
Don’t make the same mistakes we did in the past and be prepared. With a hot body and a cute dress.

It seems like just yesterday I was packing my gloves, hats, and facemask to come back to school and start 2nd semester. And now, all of a sudden, it’s spring break. Time is of the essence and even though most people only have a few days or a week to pull themselves together, here are my last-minute spring break tips.
Invest in Sunscreen- I know. I sound like your mom. That’s because I’m quoting my own mom. But seriously its been months since your skin has been exposed to the sun. The only thing more tragic than coming back with cornrows from the Caribbean is returning to school with a 3rd degree burn and 4 inch blister on your face (true story).
Begin Drinking Dangerous Amounts- (And this is part of the blog where I veer away from anything my mom has ever said.) In just a few days you will be drinking more alcohol than your liver could ever imagine and unless you want to die, it’s essential you start building up your tolerance ASAP. I know that a lot of people have midterms this week but that’s no excuse to be letting your guard down. There should be beers at every breakfast and shots with every snack. If there is any point during the day where you could legally drive, you are not preparing yourself responsibly for whats going to happen during break.
Start Sleeping- When you’re not drinking, you should be sleeping. Sleep so much that you will never want to sleep again. Because you won’t be sleeping. Not for an entire week. Chances are that if you’re not in the mood to get some, your roommate will be. There’s no hope for any 8-hour nights in any spring break destination. Read More »

School starts in just a few short weeks and while your stuff is probably already packed into boxes and lined up in the garage, we at CollegeCandy wanted to make sure you didn’t forget anything.
We asked our writers to weigh in on all the things that everyone needs to bring to school. The stuff that maybe you, a new college freshman, may not have thought of. So, print this list and check it twice. You won’t want to be caught in your dormroom without this stuff…
Under bed storage things
Thirty pairs of undies and socks – so you only have to do laundry once a month
Plain white t-shirts – perfect for graffiti parties/any event where a homemade t-shirt is necessary…and those happen a lot
George Forman Grill
Travel mug – for much needed coffee on the go
A planner
“Everyone Participates” board games – It wouldn’t be freshman year if you didn’t waste a few quiet Friday nights with Cranium, Taboo, Apples to Apples, etc. Everyone gets tired of lying around hammered/stoned eventually.
Dust Buster – for crumbs in your bed…or ash on your floor
iPod
Foam mattress thingy – Dorm mattresses blow
High School yearbook
Plastic Baggies - to bring some of that dorm food back to your room
Shower bucket
Snow pants - for inevitable snowball fights/dining tray sledding
Costumes/anything that can be turned into a costume – just trust us on this one
An extra phone charger
Condoms – Saves you the embarassment of asking your RA for one at 3am. Read More »
