Lykke Li hearts CollegeCandy. And we heart Lykke Li.

This has been the weekend of insanely glamorous things going on. From the VIP seats at the Ruffian show to experiencing fashion week, I thought that life couldn’t get anymore glam.

But it could. And it did.

Last night, I was lucky enough to interview celebs on the red carpet for the VMAs! I asked them about the show, their fave videos and advice for college chicas. If you weren’t following my live Tweets on the CollegeCandy Twitter, here is a little bit about my night on the red carpet!

Winners: Pitbull might’ve been the coolest guy, ever. Seriously, dude, take me to the hotel room any time. Akon, Jay Sean, Kevin Rudolf and Sean Kingston were also incredibly sweet. Rappers love me, what can I say?

Kid Sister was amazing and her nails were beyond fabulous. Look for this girl to blow up soon. Lots of love to Amerie of “One Thing” fame: down-to-earth and adorable. Lykke Li was phenomenal and the celeb I was the most starstruck by, even though she’s kind of unknown right now. Helloooo, girl crush.

Holly Montag and Stacie “The Bartender” from The Hills were super buddy-buddy, which is interesting considering the major dramz from last season. Not surprising, though, those two are not the brightest bulbs in the tanning salon.  But it’s okay -  Holly told me she “minored in drinking,” which CollegeCandy totes magotes approves of. Unless all that drinking turned her into the girl she is today, in which case I’m staying sober from here on out.

Jimmy Fallon talked to me when I basically verbally assaulted him with the fact that I go to school in Boston. He told me I looked great. We’re basically married now, right? He was perfect and talked to every possible reporter that he could. What a gem!

Oh, and Cobra Starship tried to eat my sign.
Which was not made of real candy.

Losers: Anjulie wouldn’t give me an interview. And I quote, “No, I don’t know you, but once I do, I will.” It’s okay, though – no one knows who you are either. She also was giving reporters a hard time if they hadn’t seen her video. RUDE! Also straight out of the douchebag factory? Cast of Real World: Cancun. Really? Why? Just, why?

Other points of interest: Kanye and his freaky-deaky girlfriend straight up swigging from a bottle of Hennessy on the carpet. Classy. Could explain his later outburst at Tay-Tay (who looked gorgeous, sparkly and all kinds of shiny).

Perez whored it up a bit in yellow gloves and boots, but who even wants to talk to him!? Also spotted embracing Lady GaGa. Not impressed by either of them. Was impressed by Jack Black’s fake muscles and standard ridiculous red carpet antics, though.

Blew by almost every press person: Lauren Conrad (really?!), Leighton Meester, Pink, Chase Crawford (sadface), Adam Brody (but he did turn around and wave for me!), J.Lo, Gerard Butler, Jackson Fam and Gaga.

No shows on the carpet: R.Patz & K.Stew, Eminem, Madonna, Jay-Z, Beyonce and Megan Fox.

And now for the highlights:

TREMENDOUS thank you to Meredith editing the video and making my shaky flipcam filming look fantabulous. Meredith is a freshman at Boston University studying film. She hearts yorkies, Jack Nicholson movies and the Beatles. Oh, and she just so happens to be the best little sister in the universe. Love.

Monday night’s Gossip Girl season finale got me thinking. First, I started thinking about how depressing my Monday nights would be without my favorite show.  Then I started thinking about what I would do with that 60 minutes of emptiness… and decided that I’d probably just eat to fill the void.

And then I started thinking about the quest to out Gossip Girl (from the most anti-climatic ending EVER) and I had a teen-drama epiphany:

Perez Hilton is the real world Gossip Girl.

OK, so maybe it wasn’t some crazy life-altering “aha moment,” but I was tired and it seemed pretty groundbreaking to me.

Just think about it:
Just like Gossip Girl requires tips from eyewitnesses, Perez depends on photos and stories from first-hand sources.

And just like Gossip Girl ruins people’s lives and reputations with the stuff she texts, Perez insults, slanders and embarrasses everyone who has the misfortune of making it to his site.

Of course, there are some key differences. For one, GG is extremely witty and talented, and Perez is, well, not. Unless you consider drawn-on cocaine to be talent, in which case he’s the Van Gogh of our generation. And Gossip Girl stays out of the limelight, preferring to do her work behind the scenes. A preference we only wish, pray and beg Perez would have.

But in the end, they are both the same: attention seeking people who are unhappy in their lives so they do their best to bring down those around them. And as much as we all hate it, we are all complicit in their actions. We send the tips, we read the gossip, and we’re OK with it all because it’s not about us.

We aren’t going to stop the Gossip Girls of the world any time soon (much like our BFF Serena was powerless) , but we can only hope that someone can give them a dose of their very own medicine. Or, at the very least, that our real world Gossip Girl, Perez, will take a cue from GG and stay. out. of the limelight.

Whenever we need to make a difficult decision, we make a list.

“Heels or flats?”
“Pizza or salad?”
“Prada backpack or Skechers?”

So when we are constantly faced with the awful decision of which fame whore is more fame whorey, we make a list. Yes, this is a decision we feel the need to make on a weekly basis. We have a lot of time on our hands.

Moving on.

This week’s showdown is between two celebs that continue to invade our lives, no matter how hard we try to avoid them: Perez Hilton and Ryan Seacrest. Which one would we like to ship off to a small island in the South Pacific first? Do we really have to choose?!

Day Job

Perez Hilton is the (self proclaimed) Queen of All Media. As if the self proclaimed part wasn’t infuriating enough, it boggles my mind as to how Perez has actually made a career out of this fictional job title. Apparently to be the Queen of All Media, all you need is some (creatively acquired) paparazzi pic, Microsoft Paint and the ability to straddle the boarder of what is deemed the acceptable use of the English language. For the last time, spelling sexy as “secksi” does not make you clever or trendy, it makes you illiterate.

Ryan Seacrest may be the actual Queen of All media. That guy is EVERYWHERE. He graces American Idol on a weekly basis, runs a syndicated radio talk show, became an executive producer, hosted Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve, the 2007 Emmy Awards and hosts for E! on a regular basis. He also made a cameo in Knocked Up, and even participated in Fear Factor. Talk about over exposure – when does this this guy have time to sleep?

Point: Perez Hilton. People actually like and trust what Ryan has to say. There is nothing to like or trust about a picture of a penis on someone’s face. Thanks for nothing, Perez.

Style

Perez Hilton has made worst dressed lists numerous times. Of course, everyone is entitled to their own style, but when you pretend to hold some sort of authority on how clothes should be worn, you better damn well know what looks good. Maybe Perez should take a break from attacking celeb outfits and concentrate on his own wardrobe, because last time I checked, shower caps were a big fashion NO. And if that picture isn’t insulting enough, Perez later launched his own fashion line, which of course, failed.

Ryan Seacrest is the poster child for metrosexuality. Let’s see – meticulously styled, perfectly highlighted hair? Check. Teeth so white they glow? Check. Fashionably distressed, dry cleaned jeans? Check. Spray on tan? Double check. The facts don’t lie; Ryan has metrosexual written all over his freshly botoxed forehead.

Point: Perez Hilton. Seriously, leave the shower cap in the shower.

Celeb Feuds

Perez Hilton makes fun of celebrities. In that middle school sorta way. If you have been in any tabloid EVER, Perez has written something mean about you. The man knows no boundaries. Proof? He even calls babies fat. BABIES. It’s no secret that Perez’s latest feud is with Miss California, so we should be expecting him to milk that situation for all its worth for another few weeks while his favorite punching bags wait on the back burner. These celebrities are often affectionately nicknamed something misogynistic and or degrading such as Maniston, Lezlo, and Zaquisha.

Ryan Seacrest is no stranger to celebrity feuds himself. Where to begin… I suppose we should start with the American Idol crew. We’ve all sat through the uncomfortable quips between Ryan and Simon Cowell, but Ryan has also gone on record talking about an “icy” relationship with Paula Abdul as well. Then there’s the feud between Ryan and Charlie Sheen, which erupted after Ryan chose business over friendship and produced Denise Richard’s reality show. And of course, who could forget the time Ryan ripped open Kathy Griffin’s shirt at the American Music Awards?

Point: Ryan Seacrest. I’m going to have to go with quality over quantity here. Perez may have lots of little tiffs, but Ryan has some big beef.

Media Personality

Perez Hilton may be called many things, but he has never been called nice. He has made a career out of being a mean, snarky, gossiping, fame-whore. His website is devoted to very serious newsworthy topics, such as celebrities who forgot to wear panties and hot dudes without their shirts on.

Ryan Seacrest also talks about very serious news worthy issues. He asks the hard hitting questions such as, “What’s the deal with Audrina on The Hills?” Unlike Perez, though, Ryan doesn’t mock the celebs; instead he takes himself and his job very, very seriously.

Point: Ryan Seacrest.  It’s great that Ryan takes his job so seriously, but is an exclusive interview with Lauren Conrad really that important?

Hollywood Hookups

Perez Hilton hasn’t been in the relationship spotlight very often, but when it happens, it happens BIG. Perez is infamous for outting closeted celebrities and, in my opinion, he does so in attempt to date them. Case and point? John Mayer. Perez swore to the high heavens that he and John Mayer shared a passionate kiss. Some people (myself included) thought this may have been yet another desperate publicity stunt, that is, until John Mayer confirmed it.

Ryan Seacrest has been on homosexuality watch for quite some time now. This has not stopped him from hooking up with some  hot Hollywood ladies, including Teri Hatcher and Sheryl Crow.

Point: Perez Hilton. No one’s going to keep kissing you if go shouting it from the gossip sites. Someone should draw a penis on your face, Perez.

Celebretard Prize: Perez Hilton

All you have to do is click on the goods and - boom - you can buy the entire ensemble. Yes, we know; there is a spot for her in heaven.]

I don’t know much about Lily Allen except that she’s from London, Perez likes to slam her and she has really cute bangs. Oh, and she uses hypnosis to lose weight? Weird.

But I don’t need to know what she does (she sings? Good to know). What I do know is that she thinks outside the box with her fashion choices and pulls together looks that we wouldn’t normally think of. Some are not so cute, but this shorts over tights/leopard print combo? Very cute. And a nice change of pace to wear out than that usual cleavage-y top or back-bearing dress.

We all ran far, far away from cut-offs after 1989 Britney’s love affair with them, but Lily Allen proves that they’re back. So, yank those badboys out of the closet and show some legs for a change. Yes, even in the winter!

Leopard Print Turtle Neck Top

I know, I know, we all wore leopard in 7th grade and had matching purses, but this animal print is all over the place this year and doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere anytime soon. Even Blair Waldorf was rocking it this week. Tuck this little guy into the shorts or, if the daisy duke thing isn’t your look, high waisted jeans or a black high waisted skirt should do the trick.

Shorts

How economical now that you can wear them all winter long! And you don’t even need to shave your legs. Sa-weeet!

Black Blazer

Throw it on and leave it open. It will keep you warm while tying the whole classy-chic look together.

Tights

The more opaque the better (to cover the cellulite that keeps you from wearing short shorts in the first place).

Pumps

It’s normal to feel stumpy in shorts, but with pumps, those legs will go on forever and ever and ever.

 Quilted Bag

Looks vintage. Looks designer. But with the price of Forever 21. I’d argue you can totally buy love, and it’s right here.

Paris—throw her ass in jail. And please TMZ, stop updating me every four seconds on the state of the case. She’s an idiot who has done nothing for us except act in bad movies, or openly feuded and fucked everyone in Hollywood. Enough.

And Lindsay? I agree with Jess—I had hope for you, and now you’ve ruined it. Snort, and screw yourself into oblivion, ruin your career, do whatever it is you do, I just don’t want to hear about it.

So I’ve had to find entertainment elsewhere these days. I blindly search the internet for something of interest, and have been mostly unsuccessful in finding anything that tickles my fancy. Until I came upon this video.

Air Sex? I am weirded out, amused, confused, disgusted, intrigued… there’s really not enough words. I wonder how you gather the nerve to put your moves on in front of an audience—especially the one’s shown off here. I’ve heard of cultural differences, but this is just too strange for me. What’s going on over there?
