He Said/She Said: Dating “Down”

ugly guy hot girl

I think we can all agree that physical attraction is important in a relationship. You don’t get all hot and bothered over just anyone, right? But there seems to be a bit of disagreement about what makes someone physically attractive, especially between men and women. You know as well as I do that personality can totally make a guy more attractive, but it doesn’t seem to be the same story for them.

How many times have you seen a total hottie dating some ugly dud? Now think of all the times that has been reversed. Can’t think of any? That’s because it doesn’t happen. Or at least not often.

And that pisses me off. How is it fair that a Jonah Hill can nab a Scarlett Johansson (theoretically, of course), but I can’t get a David Beckham to look my way? WTF? Do guys even realize how ridiculous that is? I tried to find out. Shockingly, even dudes can’t rationalize it. Read More »

Holiday Flings, Part 2: Holding On

ldr.jpg

Okay, okay. You found your fling. But classes are about to begin again, and you’ve got to pack up, move out, and put your scholar-face on. What are you going to do about the amazing hottie you picked up over the break?

Well, that all depends. What do you want? What does he want? How much do you really think you click? And by “click,” I do NOT mean another work that ends in “-ck.” Because if you’re going to make it work, you’re going to have to jive beyond the boundaries of physical attraction.

Take into consideration the fact that you’re going to have a college workload, assignments, deadlines, and the usual university-sponsored (or bar-sponsored) social engagements. If he’s in school, he will too. Sure, it was easy to escape when you were both visiting your parents, but what about when you’ve got your uber-fun roommate and a dorm full of friends every night of the week? If you still think he’s worth it, read on. Read More »

He Said/She Said: Dudes and Random Hook Ups

power_hour_game_at_bar.jpg

No matter how confident we are, women are always second guessing themselves. Especially in the looks department. And it doesn’t help that men are all, “blah blah – we love sex – blah blah – we’d do it with anyone.”

What does that say about us? What does that say about the way the guy feels about us?

I was really curious to see if guys really can just stick it anywhere, and if they did not care who they were sleeping with as long as they were gettin’ some. I for one could never imagine sleeping with someone whom I was not attracted to (with or without alcohol), but I’m not a guy.

It seems that dudes will stoop to any level to get laid, but is that the case? Read More »

Disney Princesses Effed Up My Love Life

disney-princesses.jpg

Let’s get one thing straight; I am absolutely obsessed with Disney movies. But as much as I love watching them, the princesses walking around those movies always manage to make me feel terrible about my love life. They create unrealistic expectations about love and relationships all while maintaining a search for ‘happily ever after’.

So how does one attain this happily ever after? According to a Disney princess, by finding love! And how does one find love? With a song and dance, of course!

Gone are the days where meaningful conversation and actual chemistry are needed for a relationship, Disney princesses show that chiseled features and a great singing voice are all a girl really needs. Beauty and the Beast seems to be one exception as the Beast definitely ain’t no looker but Belle likes him anyway. The only downside to this love affair is that the Beast is holding Belle captive in order to make her fall in love with him so he can turn handsome again.

Ariel, in The Little Mermaid, has yet to speak to her man before claiming her love for him. She defies her father, runs away from home, and makes a deal with an evil sorceress to give up her voice, all in hopes of meeting this guy. But lo and behold, Ariel and the prince do meet and by the end of the movie they have fallen in love and are ready to live happily ever after. Maybe it was all the stimulating conversation the two had together that attracted him to her. Or the great pair of legs she traded her voice for. Read More »
