In a shopping center near Dartford, England, Mall Santas are being put through a “month long boot camp” to help them lose weight before the Holiday season bombards their laps with little kids.

“There’s nothing wrong with Santa being the size that he is,” explains property manager Tim Holland, “we just want him to have a modern day makeover to reflect the realistic demands of being the world’s most renowned delivery man.”

Throughout November, shoppers have been able to watch 12 commissioned Santas put through the wringer by a personal trainer. “How long did you stay?” Rebecca threw a pair of socks into her suitcase and looked up from her underwear drawer. “Did you listen to their entire conversation?”

“I had to! I didn’t want Public Safety to know I was sitting there!” Standing by Stacey’s mirror, I poked around her jewelry, moving pairs of pearl earrings and fake diamond bracelets in an attempt to find a ring of mine that had disappeared a few weeks ago. “Did they talk for a long time?” Closing one drawer and opening another, Rebecca continued to pack her bag. She was leaving early for the Thanksgiving holiday, a fact I had not received well. Three whole days living in a room with Stacey by myself spelled absolute misery.

In an effort to woo the growing Latino population in the United States, Macy’s went and did something stupid.

After partnering up with a Mexico City based company “NaCo”, Macy’s added and then subsequently did away with, a line of potentially racist T-shirts.

While NaCo is apparently popular is Mexico, American audiences aren’t so keen on the clothing line.

T-shirts with sayings like “I is for Illegal”, “G is for Greencard” and “Brown is the new White” were pulled from the shelves of Macy’s after many consumers deemed them offensive. Read More »
