Want To Design For Ralph Lauren?

rugby postOkay girls, brace yourselves. If I told you that you could design your own clothes, try them on and buy them, all while taking notes in class, would you believe me?

Well I’m pinching you and it’s still true.

Thanks to Ralph Lauren and his preppy-meets-chic Rugby line, you can now download an application to your phone that allows you to design your own clothing, try it on by uploading a picture of yourself, and then order it. You can also design your own stuff right on the website, for all you students “taking notes” during class (Yea right…).

You have a huge selection of pieces from sweaters and jackets to t-shirts and dresses (a totally adorable hooded, polo dress might I add!) to choose from and you can completely customize it all with patches, embroidery, numbers and your name.

But your design doesn’t end there. It’s then posted on the website in the “Make Your Own Gallery” for everyone else to see (and to buy if they like it enough!), and you can share it through Facebook and email so all your friends to check out! No joke, people could be walking around in something you designed.

Seriously, is this not a fashionista’s dream come true? Create, share and buy your own designs at the click of a button? Now I not only have the ability to make the clothes that I want to wear, I also have something to keep me awake during calculus.

Thank you, Ralph. Thank you very, very much.

8 Under $20: Old Navy

eight under twenty intro

For many of you, school has already begun or will shortly, which means new additions to the wardrobe are necessary. Woohoo! But you don’t have to spend a lot to update that 2008 fall wardrobe.  Old Navy is a great place to get cute basics at super reasonable prices. Just pair these items (many of which are on sale!)  with the trendier items/accessories in your closet for a brand new look.

Here are a few pieces I found that’ll be great for the upcoming months… Read More »

Olympic Style – Straight Out of Beijing

polo.jpgIt is pretty obvious that we are obsessed with the Olympics around here. We love the sports, we love the politics and, obviously, we love the men.

Hell, we’d probably even wear those U.S.A. themed Speedo’s if we could get our hands on them (or squeeze our butts into them). But, alas, that is not going to happen. Which is fine because it’s not like we actually want to participate in any events – cuz we got no skills – we just want to show our support.

Yeah, we could probably hang an American flag over our beds or sing the National Anthem at every chance we got, but that’s so boring. We wanna support the U.S. in style, baby. So let’s give a big thanks to our pal Ralph Lauren for creating this awesome Olympic collection.

After designing the outfits worn by the athletes during the Opening Ceremonies, Mr. Polo decided to take his American pride one step further and give the rest of us somethin’ to rock.

Lord knows I love me some popped collars and now I can feel like the athletes without actually having to give up the cookies or run 5,000 laps around a track. Some of it is a bit cheesy, but the rest is chic, wearable and an awesome way to commemorate the occassion.

Going Incognito: Sunglasses Trends for the Summer

Sunglasses are in year-round, but summer is definitely a time to show off how style-savvy you are with your specs. Whether navigating the city, laying on the beach, or bike riding along the boardwalk, sunglasses are a fun way to accessorize while also protecting your eyes, and are a small piece of an ensemble that can express your own personal style. This year we’re seeing many of the trends of years past, with a few newbies thrown in, and some minor changes to add a new look.

While it’ll eventually go out of fashion, don’t expect that to happen for the next couple of years. This look doesn’t work for every face shape, but if you can rock it, it can be a blast. You can go for many different shapes; square, round, oval. We’re even seeing octagonal and heart shapes! And the color combos are endless. Classic black gives an Audrey Hepburn look, while going for a fun, funky color and shape allows a whole new feeling. The best advice is to try these glasses on and make sure they don’t take over your face, then have fun with it! Read More »

So Hot Right Now: Resort Wear

star01_may06fashioncrisis.jpgMadras, seersucker, Topsiders, oh my! Resort wear has hit the co-ed set in full force. While undergraduates are known as the best of the label whores, sometimes the goal of carefully planning an outfit is more than flattering your figure. It implies, of course, that you’re en route to the country club your parents can afford.

The perk of resort wear is that it’s classy and respectable until it reaches Frat Row. You can be adorable without dressing like a desperate-to-impress freshman, all it takes is a little dedication to the cause.

Collecting argyle sweaters and linen trousers can help you transition into a non-party persona for the workplace with no trouble. Here are some tips for dressing to the yuppie role without coming off as a complete douchebag:

1) Collars down. At all times. Ladies, if you’re going for the cleavage factor and rocking a Lacoste to the bar, pair it with pumps, ass-flattering denim, and go crazy. Unbutton as low as you dare, but find a cute contrasting cami to toss under that pique polo.

2) Set a limit to the number of pastels you go with. Your boyfriend can wear as much pink as he likes, and so can you, but just remember that the phrase “too much of a good thing” came about for a reason. Read More »
