Perez Hilton loves her. We love her. It’s all you need to know.
Jenny’s hilarious cover of Nelly’s “Hot in Herre” has been making the rounds for months and Jenny’s finally getting the recognition she deserves. Check out the video and then run over to her MySpace page here!
I know, I know. Ashley Tisdale? But seriously, if its infectious pop you’re looking for, this song is it. “He Said, She Said” is going to be everywhere this fall, from dorm parties to the biggest clubs.
MySpace has brought many an artist to the musical forefront, and Colbie Calliat is no exception. However, unlike many artists today, Calliat (like ballet) writes her own music.
The 22 year-old hails from sunny California and grew up in a musical family. Her father co-produced a few Fleetwood Mac albums and by age 11 Colbie began singing. It wasn’t until she was 19 that she took guitar lessons and really started to take her music seriously.
After the song “Bubbly” garnered interest on her MySpace page, Colbie’s music career took off. She shopped around for a record label and found a home with Universal Republic.
Daddy Simpson is spreading the word. Big sis Jess is taking it country. No more bubblegum pop.
Although I will admit I loved “With You”…which I’m listening to right now…
That’s the reason I love Jessica Simpson. Her music sucks and its horrible… and I love it. It’s the dance around in your underwear, want to be in love, lip-syncing in the mirror with a hairbrush type of music. It’s awful. It’s so awful you can’t help but love it. And I do.
But country?
Please, Jessica, spare me.
Your fake country accent in Dukes of Hazzard was worse than your fake tan at the CFDA awards. I grew up on country music and there are plenty of awful female country singers out there to go around. If there wasn’t, I wouldn’t have “Redneck Woman” stuck in my head right now.
As everyone’s favorite teenager dad said, “Everything in the music business, especially pop music, has moved away from singers. And I think country is the only pure, storytelling kind of genre left.”
So Jessica has a story to tell, and apparently she wants to tell it through country ballads rather than bubblegum pop lyrics. Is one genre not enough for musicians these days? Do they have to do everything—not just movies and music but every music genre too? Read More »
Like her new sound, the first words off of Britney Spears’s fresh single are a little hardcore. Following Timberlake and Furtado, Spears is leaving her candy pop behind and getting down and dirty with hard beats and a sexually tinged chorus.
Then again, when was our girl ever NOT tinged with sexuality?
The single, released late on Thursday night, isn’t the best thing I’ve ever heard, but it certainly doesn’t suck, and seems twice as amazing considering that as of late, Ms. Spears has appeared absolutely bat sh*t crazy. Read More »
