We put it on every day. For some of us, it’s a source of support. For others, it’s a source of cleavage. And for the boys we meet (be it in class or through online dating), it’s a source of stress as they try to stealthily unhook it with one hand. The bra is an important part of every woman’s life and, as we recently learned, rich in boobular history.

My #1 accessory for going out is not a Blair Waldorf headband or a killer bib necklace. It’s my Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy push-up bra. It not only gives my boobs an extra couple of inches of sexy, but it creates the perfect cleavage to enhance my ultra low cut tops. Without it, I’d look like a boy in a cami. With really great hair.

I realize that wearing it can be considered false advertising being that my boobs shrink a few sizes the moment it comes off, but I don’t care. That bra makes me look and feel sexy and I’d be lost (at least my chest would be) without it.

Well, watch out girls, because thanks to Calvin Klein, guys, too, could be packing less heat than meets the eye.

Mr. Klein, a man I now presume is packing light downtown, has just introduced a new line of jeans with “body defining fit for an enhanced profile.” In layman’s terms, a padded crotch.

Yes, guys can now lure in the ladies with a few extra padded inches.

At first glance these jeans seem a bit disturbing – I rarely want to see a guy’s junk in his pants, hence my hatred for guys free-balling in sweatpants.

Why do guys need to pretend they’re bigger than they are?
And what kind of insecure/overcompensating (for both the physical and the intellectual) guy would ever buy these?

But then I realized how hypocritical that was. We girls suck ourselves into Spanxx and push-up bras every day, so why can’t the boys do a little somethin’ somethin’ to up their sex appeal?? Granted, most girls aren’t looking at a guy’s crotch when they’re out on the town and we’d much rather see a hot pair of abs (lord knows that’s what I’m looking at in the CK ad above), but if a bigger package is what a guy needs, then by all means pad it up. After all, wearing these jeans is a lot more sly than coming home and finding a pair of socks stuffed in there.

And considering what he’ll find when he unclasps my bra, I’d say we’re even.

Just like we are always wondering what guys are thinking (which is usually sex, boobs, or sex), guys want to know what’s on our minds. What do we want? What do we like? What the hell do we mean when we curtly say “it’s fine” after they get us a push-up bra for our birthday?

Contrary to popular belief, they care what we think. Not only because they want to please us, but because they want to woo us, lure us…and get us into their beds.

Okay, since breast implants were quite the hot topic a few days ago, I feel the need to share my most recent discovery in the world of surgery. And let me tell you, it is sickening. Supposedly, Israeli researchers are developing something called an “Internal Bra.”

Confused as to how this is possible? Well, it’s simple really. “What we’ve done is build a silicon bra, insert it into the body and attach it to the ribs and to the fascia. It’s like a normal external bra,” explains one of the researchers.

I cannot even begin to imagine what kind of medical problems this could cause for women in the long run.

Oh, it gets better. “I was thinking that with a harness created from materials used in medicine – silicon, threads and very small anchoring screws – we could support breast tissue and avoid further breast sagging.”

Yes, because having saggy boobs is a justifiable reason to turn your body into some sort of mechanical robot experiment composed of harnesses and screws. Hopefully you caught my sarcasm.

Maybe I am overreacting, but this new procedure sounds, and looks, insane.

Apparently, the “milk and cookies” look (black bra under your white tee) is out. But to the New York local news station who dubbed this a fashion don’t, I say screw you. If the full page spread in today’s WWD isn’t a reassurance that I’m not a total fashion don’t, it’s another reminder that the black under white trend has spread from the streets and into the bedroom.

I’ve been doing the so called “milk and cookies” look way before Carrie Bradshaw made it popular, but taking the trend indoors has lent new excitement to my next sexual soirée. Pair your favorite dainty black duds under a little white nighty or even your boy’s old white button down. Give your own milk and cookies a go and see how yummy your man thinks you look as his afternoon snack.

In fact, these days I don’t touch anything that isn’t Styrofoamy or unidentifiable liquidy. Sure, that lacy thing is pretty, but if it ain’t padded, it ain’t perfect.

My boobs aren’t small. They’re not big either. They’re right in the middle, somewhere between I’m-Running-Free-In-A-Backless-T-Shirt! and Even-Straight-Girls-Stare-At-Them!

Growing up, I was so freaked out by my body that I would grab things off the rack at Target without even looking, and thus have never truly figured out my size.

Somewhere along the line I realized that knowing your exact bra size wasn’t as important as the padding that pushed the boobs up, and since then, I’ve made it my hobby the find all the new kinds of padding and try them all out personally.

Like the author of this article, while enjoying the awesome cleavage that can be produced by push-ups, I’m always a little worried that any guy who might be interested in The Girls will be disappointed once he realizes I do not, in fact, have a size 34 C.

Is it false advertising? I always wonder. Everyone knows boobs are like food to guys, and if my grapefruits end up really being oranges, will they be annoyed enough to look for something less fake (and less acidic)?

I can’t speak for every guy, but the one’s I’ve been with have never complained, or, I could venture, have even noticed. Most of them are just thankful I have boobs, they’re not whipping out a tape measure and scrutinizing the difference between bound and braless.

A few friends of mine can’t understand why I go padded. I don’t see the need to lie, they usually say, I’m not embarrassed by what I have. Point taken. But I’m not embarrassed by what I have either. I wear push-up bras for the same reason I wear shirts that embrace my curves and shoes that make my legs look longer. It’s all about confidence boosting.

So yes, I’m going to continue my push-up quest. I will happily and proudly rock the enhanced cleavage. I may not have the kind of boobs people write stories about, but I have a pair I’m proud of.

And isn’t that half the battle?
