How many times a week a day do you Google yourself? An embarrassing amount, right? Almost as embarrassing as the amount of time I spend diagnosing myself with fatal diseases on WebMD. But when we’re not googling our own name and Facebook stalking our frenemies, we’re googling (and ogling) guys. Like, a lot. So we wanted to do a totally scientific study (please note that we did this research while also doing research on the effects of Four Loko on a professional work day) on the most googled guys on the internet. And we were SHOCKED by the results. Like apparently no one else is as into Barry Manilow as I am. But a lot of people are really into Ne-Yo. Who knew?! Now you do!

Is it bad that since reading of this new addition to the cast, my interest in the movie has dropped about 200%?  Mel makes my skin crawl.  Seriously, I know the dude wants to push “restart” on his career, but I can think of a bajillion other celebrities who deserve a second (or third, or fourth) chance to change their image more than a wife-beating, anti-Semitic a-hole.

Amy Winehouse
Not only is she legitimately super-talented, she writes songs with names like “F*ck Me Pumps.”  Talk about someone who deserves a chance to further pursue her art!  Those are bona-fide dance hits, without which our Thirsty Thursdays would be significantly duller.  There are only so many times you can shake your butt to “Apple Bottom Jeans,” but Amy’s “Rehab” is forever.

R.Kelly
When he’s not being gross, Mr. Kelly is actually pretty funny…whether he means to be or not.  “Trapped in the Closet” was an epic musical adventure that had me biting my fingernails with anxiety.  So maybe he touched minors inappropriately.  Give him one of those hot pink molester license plates, keep him away from parks and schools, but let the guy act!

Lindsay Lohan
Once upon a time, she was a cute little redhead with a twin.  Then God smote us all by revealing that that twin was merely cinematic trickery and that our favorite ginger had a cocaine problem and a crazy mother.  Ugh, unfair!  Hasn’t Linds has put in the time, people?  I mean, seriously, she actually put in time.  In jail.  And rehab.  Doesn’t she deserve a second chance to fill the hole she left in our Parent Trap-loving hearts?

Kanye West
Sure we love him since he started Good Fridays.  A new free Kanye track every week is pretty effing spectacular.  But his image still screams arrogant jerk, no?  Stick him in The Hangover 2 as an abused member of the hotel staff, perhaps sent on a mission to track down Taylor Swift CDs for Zach Galifianakis, and I think hilarity just might ensue.

Okay, fine.  So his drug problem is old news and his reputation has pretty much been restored.  Iron Man 1 and 2, Sherlock Holmes, Tropic Thunder, Due Date…it’s clear he can land a blockbuster movie.  But still, he’s hot.  Like really, really hot.  In that DILF kinda way.  They could have just thrown him in The Hangover 2 for a scene with Bradley Cooper to make the hearts of girls everywhere sparkle more than Edward Cullen in the sun.

Can Keri Hilson save R. Kelly’s career?

To give you a little background, it all started in 2002 when music critic Jim DeRogatis was given a video by a currently unnamed source featuring what appeared to be R. Kelly giving an allegedly underage girl money, then getting a BJ from her, having sex with her, and pissing on her. DeRogatis broke the story in the Chicago Sun-Times, and shortly thereafter R. Kelly was charged with soliciting a minor for child pornography, seven counts of videotaping the acts, and seven counts of producing child pornography. Now, six years after the initial indictment, the trial has begun and it’s like the sexy remix of the O.J. Simpson trial.

Proceedings began in late May with a viewing of the tape so the jurors could see exactly what they’re working with. What they saw was a half hour long video featuring a man that looks a hell of a lot like R. Kelly and a girl that looks a hell of a lot like the alleged victim doing things that are definitely not legal for a 31-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl to do together. However, both Kelly and the girl claim that the individuals in the video are not them, and the defense’s major claim is that the tape is part of an elaborate scheme by the girl’s family to extort money from the singer.

The interesting thing about this claim is that not all of the members of the victim’s family can agree that the girl on the tape is her. While Shonna, Leroy, and Charlotte Edwards (uncle, cousin, and aunt, respectively) deny that the girl on the tape is the alleged victim, four other relatives, including Stephanie “Sparkle” Edwards, a former protégé of Kelly’s, say that their relative and the girl on the tape are most certainly one in the same. This allegation is also backed up by the girl’s former BFF Simha Jamison (who, BTW, said she recognized the girl on the video by her mullet haircut) and by Lisa Van Allen, who claims that she was involved in numerous videotaped threesomes with Kelly and the victim.

Kelly’s former assistant Lindsay Perryman also identified the alleged victim as the girl in the video, and the man as her employer. She said she recognized the girl from back in the day when she would hang out at the studio after school doing her homework and babysitting the singer’s children.

And then there’s the mole.

In a few scenes, a large mole can be seen on the lower back of the man in the video – police photos of Kelly’s naked torso reveal that he has a mole on his back in the same location. While this would seem to be pretty cut and dry evidence that the man in the video is Kelly, the defense retaliated by having a forensic video expert come in and break the film down frame by frame, showing that sometimes the mole is there, and then other times it isn’t. The expert contested that the mole isn’t a mole at all, but rather an “artifact” from poor lighting and recording equipment.

Not convinced yet that the trial is a total madhouse? Have I mentioned that the alleged victim is Kelly’s guitarist’s daughter and the singer’s goddaughter? Or that a fan broke in to the courthouse to scream “Free R. Kelly!” at the jurors? Or that one of Kelly’s lawyers actually referenced the movie magic of the Wayans brother’s Little Man when talking about how the film footage could be doctored? If you haven’t been keeping track of this story, I suggest you start. It’s enough to make you think twice about your would-be amateur porn videos. And love for R. Kelly. And, of course, pissing on kids.

Well for those of you who ignore the news clickers no doubt found to the side of your email logins, in Japan (aka: Weird Capital of the World) a homeless woman was caught living in a man’s closet. Not for like a week. Not a month. A year.

And the guy was living there. Not just in and out. He lived there.

Seriously, she was like his secret roommate. Like a mooching ninja. He wouldn’t have noticed anything if food didn’t start disappearing. How quiet was she if he never heard her? Or did he hear her and just assume it was just his neighbors making noise? You know, coming from the direction of his closet…In his apartment.

And what would have happened if he had moved? Would she have just stayed on in the closet? The landlord is showing the place to prospective renters and she’s just wondering around fixing the place up.

Possible Tenant: “Who’s she?”

Landlord: “Oh she just lives here.”

Possible Tenet: “I thought you said this was vacant!”

Landlord: “What part of ‘as is’ don’t you get?”

But honestly, after a year, why even throw her out? She hasn’t bothered you that long. Make her clean, make up some of that back rent and food she was ninja-ing.

Judging by his recent foray into rap musical sagas, one can only imagine that the guy either takes himself way, way, way too seriously, or has biggest sense of humor ever.

But here’s something else Kelly has a lot of: pending child pornography charges.

So, why hasn’t he even stepped foot inside a courthouse?

The obvious answer is that our justice system is screwed up, and lawyers can keep you running from charges that are over 5 years old for as long as your money holds out.

Besides the 21 counts of child pornography filed in June of 2002 (over a sex tape allegedly made in 1997, which prosecutors claim shows Kelly having sex with a girl around 14 years old), there were 12 other counts (filed in 2003, but not included in the main trail) of allged pornography attached to photographs of the singer and another naked under-aged girl.

While most offenders face a maximum of 15 years in prison if convicted of such acts, Kelly has successfully pushed his trail back time and time again; a jury selection scheduled for September 17 the most recent postponement.

Not to sound like your mom, but if he’s guilty or not isn’t even the question anymore—it’s the principal of the matter. You get charged with something, you go to court and testify. Not that I would know anything about this, but even people with one too many speeding tickets find themselves pleading before a judge.

Going 50 in and 30 mph zone probably isn’t a good thing, but neither is having sex with a 14-year-old girl and taping it.

If your neighbor had been charged with something like that, you can bet his day and court would have come and gone years ago. And even if he wasn’t convicted, he certainly wouldn’t win any friends in the neighborhood…or get people to go out and buy his newest CD.

Yeah, the VMA’s are totally boring but that doesn’t mean some pretty crazy shit hasn’t gone down in the past. Want some proof? Check out these 5 crazy VMA moments…maybe this year will live up to these:

#5: Michael Jackson sucking face with then-wife Lisa Marie Presley. Absolutely gross, but just like a car wreck, could anyone not watch? Even Lisa Marie looked insanely uncomfortable and not in the least bit horny.

#4: Nirvana’s bassist gets slammed in the face with his guitar. When you’re trying to look like a hard-ass, it never works out. Krist Novoselic learned the hard way when he threw his bass up in the air to be “cool” and instead, the thing came crashing down on his skull and he passed out for a minute or two. Yea, real cool.

#3: Justin’s reaction to Britney kissing Madonna. The kiss itself was pretty much no big deal, but the look on JT’s face is priceless. It’s like fire could burst out of his eyeballs at any second. Little did he know she would soon look like this.

#2: Fiona Apple loses her shit. The infamous “This world is bullshit” quote….a rambling, nonsensical speech, but I still think Fiona’s cooler than most of the chicks in music today.

#1: R Kelly’s “Trapped in the Closet.” The guy peed on an under-age girl and then has the balls to get up on stage and perform this as a one-man-show? What is this even? Is it supposed to be funny, cause it is highly hysterical.

So, there you have it.

I doubt anything this spectacular will happen at this year’s event. I really can’t think of anything controversial happening at the VMA’s since Britney and Christina and Madonna’s threesome. But even though they’ve have been disappointing in recent years, I’ll probably still watch them anyway on September 9th, hoping for a crazy surprise.

Maybe Michael Jackson will do some more of the sucking face with a lucky lady? I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Blender has dug deep (as there are waaay too many to list) to establish the Top 20 Most Embarrassing Pop Star Video Moments. Some moments are recent and some are from pop’s forgotten past. Some moments are mild and some are mean. Some moments are self-induced by drugs, and some are just self-induced by plain stupidity. Whatever the case, from Nirvana to Paris, they are all golden moments, and touchstones in the culture that is pop.

Revel in K-Fed’s face as he is dumped by Britney via text. Snicker as Lindsay is publicly referred to as a “firecrotch” with giant labia. Ouch. Cringe as R. Kelly, and YES, that is indeed R. Kelly, as he checks to see that the shot of him peeing on his much younger, female counterpart, will be caught at just the right angle. GROSS.

And of all the pop star video mishaps, which reigns supreme? Here’s a hint: it involves a recently made-over celebrity sibling with no real vocal talent, but who is actually starting to look better than the sibling, (who was always known as “the hot one” before said makeover) caught in the very live act of the same thing Milli Vanilli was accused of years ago, who, in fact, also made the list. If you can’t figure this out, then you deserve a place on this countdown, too.
