Pretty much everyone has an opinion on Rachel Zoe. I found myself wondering where I fall on the “love her or hate her” spectrum and determined I’m awkwardly crawling on the middle ground–attempting to justify her diva qualities for some beyond beautiful outfits.
Here’s what I’m thinking:
The girl is way too dramatic. There was really no need to badmouth her former assistant Taylor Jacobson as much as she did, she probably shouldn’t have used her newborn for a little extra publicity and she just really needs to eat a sandwich. But I can’t help but like her. And I’m not totally sure why.
To start, she is undeniably talented. While I’d like to think that anyone with an endless supply of cash and access to Barney’s would always look good, this just simply isn’t the case. Even in couture, celebrities can look downright silly sometimes but Rachel Zoe has a knack for dressing people (and herself). Like anyone, she styles a few misses, but generally her clients are red carpet ready and looking damn fabulous. Read More »

“Oh my God, I love her shoes!”
“Check out that bag!”
“That dress is amazing.”
We ladies are constantly on the look out for the hottest fashion (at the lowest prices) and the coolest trends. Even the girl who just wears the same pair of jeans every day is looking for a comfortable pair of denim that make her ass look great. And that’s why we’re constantly providing a running commentary on the fashion we see on a daily basis. While some of it is certainly cringe-worthy, there’s a lot of it that is ooo-ahh-I-want-it worthy. It’s not uncommon to see strangers ask each other where someone bought something.
But what about those things you can’t have and the people you can’t ask? The Manolo Blahnik’s you see Carrie Bradshaw wearing on almost every episode of Sex and the City or the Hermes bracelet on Kim Kardashian? Everyone wants it but few can have it…and that’s why I have a never-ending list of celebrity closets I want to raid. Read More »

Last week, when nothing good was on TV and I couldn’t bare to watch the same episodes of Jersey Shore, Keeping Up With The Kardashians or the Real Housewives yet again, I decided to peruse my cable guide for something new to strike my fancy.
And strike it did. There, on the guide, I saw everyone’s favorite stylist Rachel Zoe hosting a show on….QVC? Huh? What? Isn’t QVC for grandmas who watch while they’re knitting on Friday nights? Intrigued, I turned it on. I mean, I’ve never watched QVC before (because I don’t knit), but you know what I have watched? The Rachel Zoe Project. And that shiz is good. That woman knows style unlike anyone else and if she’s hawking goods, even on QVC, I want ‘em. Read More »

If it’s one thing we’ve learned here at CC, it’s that all people are fascinating (Yes, even your econ professor). Let’s face it – people love to glimpse into the lives of other people. Disagree? Then please explain why you’re currently looking at your friend’s brother’s girlfriend’s cousin’s photos on Facebook. Or reading about the latest Chris Brown/Rihanna dramz in this weeks’ tabloids. Yeah we thought so.
Fact is we connect to others by learning about them. And everyone has something to share (even if it a story about a particularly embarassing fall…in a dress). So to give you yet another reason to procrastinate, we started ‘The Five Questions We Ask Everyone’ (and five just for that one person) because we know whether we’re schmoozing with an A- list celeb or your local bartender, you’ll be equally entertained.
Style expert and entrepreneur Ashley Thompson, 29, enjoys a life immersed in the international fashion scene as both a forecasting fashionista as well as the owner of New York City’s well-known shopping hotspot, Owl’s Lab. Some of those sporting her goods include industry icons such as Mary-Kate Olsen, Jessica Alba, Paris Hilton, Mariah Carey, Maggie Gyllenhaal and more.
Owl’s Lab has been featured on TLC’s “What Not To Wear” and in publications such as Vogue, Teen Vogue, Women’s Wear Daily, Lucky, US Weekly, In Touch Weekly, New York Post, New York Daily News, E! Online and Daily Candy. It also holds the title of one of the Top 100 Boutiques in New York City (Lucky Magazine, August 2007) and is listed as one of NYC’s five “Best Bets” boutiques alongside Phillip Lim and other notable women’s fashion destinations.
