“Nappy headed hos,” isn’t a phrase I’d utter in the privacy of my bedroom, let alone on the radio for everyone and their mother to hear. After all, it isn’t one of my life’s ambitions to be chased with pitch forks. I’m a nice girl and I have a nice rep.
Don Imus, on the other hand, is a naughty, racist asshole. If you haven’t heard the news already, last Wednesday on his “Imus in the morning” radio show, Imus referred to the Rutgers Women’s Basketball players as “rough girls,” “man, they got tattoos,” and finally, the comment heard round the world “that’s some nappy headed hos, I’ll tell you that.”
Whoa, dude, what in god’s name were you thinking? Personally, I’m disgusted and I feel bad for the Rutgers b-ball girls. How insulting.
Yeas, Imus is being punished, but it’s only a suspension from his silly radio show. How bout some real justice? Is it really okay to let such a racist remark be swept under the rug? To top it off, Imus has yet to give the girls a much deserved personal apology.
Team captain, Essence Carson said today, “I would like to express our team’s great hurt, anger and disgust toward the words of Mr. Don Imus. We are highly angered at his remarks but deeply saddened with the racial characterization they entailed.”
I’m with you, girl.
Check out Imus’s shameful, horrendous, disgusting moment here.
