As a reward for staying up late to watch the Oscars, I really feel I should be rewarded with any or all of the actresses’ makeup artists. And maybe a stylist. Getting up and dressed for school after a late night is a bit of a challenge when I’ve got major on-loan-dress-envy. While the awards themselves were a little awkward (Did James Franco meet up with Charlie Sheen before the show?), there were a few entertaining moments. For me, the best part was joining in on the College Candy liveblog Oscar party.
Seriously, it was the place to be last night….and about the only reason I even stayed awake for the “duh” awards at the end of the show.
But we all know we don’t watch the Oscars for the show itself. The fashion – from the dresses to the jewels to the shoes – is what really matters. Especially when it’s James Franco wearing all three. Anyways, in case you missed it or didn’t get enough of my quips during the liveblog, check out the most memorable looks from last night’s show. Read More »

Can I get some Red Bull up in here? I’m majorly struggling right now. It’s like the crash that comes after eating a bag of Sour Patch Kids, only instead of sugar I was hopped up on sequins and cleavage and Brad Pitt’s sunglasses.
Yes, you know I’m talking about the glamour that was the Golden Globe’s Red Carpet.
Of course there are always lots of entertaining moments in the award show itself (Ricky Gervais was hosting, after all), but like most ladies with an eye for fashion, the true highlight of the show comes before it even starts. And last night’s show before the show did not disappoint. From the stunning shoes (I’m looking at your hidden feet, Olivia Wilde!) to the bright hues (word to your mother, Angelina) to the style doo doos (how else do you describe Christina Aguilera’s ‘fit?), the 2011 Golden Globes red carpet had me on the edge of my futon.
So after 3 hours of acceptance speeches during which I did some careful consideration (and drank a few glasses of Franzia), I bring you the best dressed, worst dressed, most WTF dressed and, just for fun, the sexiest men of the 2011 Golden Globes.
Enjoy. Read More »

There’s something about the Oscars that brings out the awkwardness in our favorite Hollywood stars and starlets. On the red carpet, we get to hear the awkward comments celebs make when they aren’t scripted. On stage, we get to hear the awkward comments the presenters make when they are scripted and given the corniest jokes to deliver. Best of all, are the awkward pauses after those corny jokes when no one laughs. And when asked how they “feel” to be here, most nominees will respond with variations of “amazing” “speechless” and “honored.”
These are the expected/accepted answers, but even though these are the elitist of the Hollywood elite, the Oscar guests are humans after all, and they have to be thinking SOMETHING else. So… what were they really thinking?
Let’s find out…. Read More »

It’s finally here! The glitz, the glamor, the celebrities stuffed into Spanx so they look flawless in their couture gowns. Yes, the Golden Globes pre-show is about to start and, OMG, we could not be more excited! Sure, the actual awards show is gonna be fantastic (go Gabourey Sidibe!), but we’re all about the fashion around here.
Are you ready for some Golden Globes Red Carpet action? Get that TV tuned into E! for Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic’s coverage and watch with us. So this week, rather than choosing a specific celebrity whose style I admire, I decided to give an ode to awards season by picking out some of the best red carpet looks of the season and explaining why these starlets succeeded in looking amazing.
You may not have any red carpet events coming up (What? You weren’t invited to the Oscars?), but that doesn’t mean you can’t learn a thing or two from these fashion experts. Read More »

[Celebrities get paid to look good and serve as a style guide to all us common folk, and part of looking good is flaunting their totally awesome fashion sense. Each week, I will be highlighting my Style Idol of the week: a celebrity who consistently shows keen fashion sense and whose closet I would raid in a heartbeat.
Of course, no celebs are immune to the occasional “what the hell were they thinking?” moment, but for the most part, these celebs look foxy and fabulous and inspire us all to do the same.]
My Style Idol this week is none other than the oh-so-lovely, Scarlett Johansson. Scarlett’s style has wowed fans both on and off the red carpet, though she’s most famous for her glamorous red carpet looks. (And, maybe, her hottie arm candy.) She picks perfect colors that compliment her fair complexion and blonde hair and cuts that accentuate her incredible… ahem… assets. She’s become such a fashion icon, she was chosen to be the face of Louis Vuitton, whose current designer is her good friend, Marc Jacobs.
While she goes out on a limb occasionally, she more often than not goes with classic styles, but puts her own twist with great selections of accessories, be it jewelry, hair pieces or shoes. She’s got a look that’s classic Hollywood and she plays up on that well. Overall, Scarlett dolls herself up in ways that make fashionistas ’round the world drool and that puts her way up there on my Style Idol list. Read More »

OMG. We didn’t realize how much we loved the Golden Globes until we sat – popcorn and cookies in hand – and watched all the stars strut their stuff on the red carpet last night. There were so many good looking and talented people in one room; we would have given anything (yes, including our extensive bag collection) to be there. Hell, we just want to try on Beyonce’s necklace.
The Red Carpet was fantastic. Fitted dresses were all the rage, highlighted by gorgeous accessories. Cocktail rings were everywhere, along with blingin’ brooches, hair clips and necklaces. And let’s not forget the best (and most prevalent) accessory of all: major cleavage.
Below are a few of our favorite (and most trainwreck-y) bits and pieces from the evening. Sure, the overall looks were breathtaking, but it’s all in the details, right? A little bling here, a little ruffle there. And, of course, Drew Barrymore’s hair. I mean, come on, girlfriend. That hair? Is she auditioning for Hairspray?!

There is nothing better than a Sunday evening with french fries, Franzia and fashion. The Emmy Awards are on right now and they are…meh. The opening scene sorta blew (except for Heidi Klum’s sparkly unitard…that she looked HOT in), the rest is a bit boring, and my Franzia hangover is already kicking in.
But the red carpet fashion was some of the best I’ve seen in years. Seriously, I can’t even think of one dress that I didn’t totally love. Well, maybe one, but that is for a whole other post.
As I walked past a mirror on my way to the bathroom and caught my reflection – sorority butt pants, a stained t-shirt and super greasy hair – I couldn’t help but imagine what I would look like in any of the following gowns.
Not that I will ever walk a red carpet…or get to wear a Nanette Lepore gown…or drink any wine that doesn’t come in a box, but a girl can dream.
Click on the image to get a full look at the gowns and find out why we fell head over Louboutin-heels in love. Read More »

Oh, the writers strike. It’s been cock blocking so many fun events for us spectators as of late, but not the SAG awards! The ceremony actually went and got a waiver from the Writers Guild of America and the show, for once, went on Sunday. Stars grazed the red carpet with expected ease and as with all major events like this one, the night was just as much as about fashion as it was anything else. And as with every fashion event, celebrities seem to always be hitting it or missing it.
So here’s who HIT it Sunday night: Read More »
