Like it or not, Valentine’s Day is coming in less than two weeks. Whether you’re dressing up for date night with your beau, gearing up for a night of dancing with your single ladies, or joining Ben & Jerry for a night with Blair and Serena, it’s the perfect excuse to buy something pretty. If you’re hoping to channel the color of love for your date, or the Chinese color for luck (because it is still Chinese New Year) you can don an attention-grabbing red item for the night. From an LRD to an eye-catching red pump, you’re sure to assert confidence when wearing cupid’s favorite color.
Not feeling the red?
Then how about channeling the other part (AKA my favorite part) of Valentine’s Day: chocolate! Red is not for everyone but wearing black on Single Awareness Day is cliche, making brown the perfect choice. It’s both festive and flattering, and if you find the right item it can be just as eye-catching as it’s in-your-face friend, red. Read More »

It’s holiday time and at holiday time the LBD goes out the window (OK, not out the window. What a waste! More like to the back of the closet; we all know the LBD will be back by NYE) and in it’s place:
The LRD (the Little Red Dress).
From Thanksgiving to Christmas lord knows we are invited to tons of holiday parties. Some dressy and some a bit more casual. But either way, you can’t go wrong rockin’ an LRD. Nothing says “I’m Festive!” or “kiss me under the mistletoe, cute guy in the ugly sweater!” or “damn that peppermint/chocolate pretzel was good, spoon feed them to me please” like an LRD. Okay, so maybe the last one doesn’t need to be said in an LRD but, mmm, holiday chocolate.
Here are our favorite options for this year’s LRD. From santa red to darker hues to reds in a fun print – you just can’t go wrong! Dress them up with bare legs and a nude pump; dress them down with black tights and suede booties; OR, my all-time favorite combo, opt for grey tights and shoes. It’s less harsh and more unexpected than black (but this works for the more casual options only!)
Happy holidays, ladies in red! Read More »

Good news, peeps: red is IN this season. What? Is that cheering I hear? I KNOW! I’m so excited too!
I love red. It’s bold, it’s classy and it’s totally sexy. And if you wear it right (which is pretty easy unless you opt for some sort of pleather body suit) you can really stick out…in a good way. There are so many different ways to work this hue into your wardrobe, whether you want to totally stand out or just spice up a neutral ensemble. And there are many different shades, meaning it can look good on everyone.
So get out there, find the shade of red that matches you and paint the town in it. For under 20 buckeroos. Read More »

This Sunday is February 14th, that equally loved and dreaded holiday all about looooove. While you may be worrying about whether you have a date or not, there’s no need to worry about what you’re gonna wear. There are tons of affordable and adorable options out there for any of those V-Day plans: hot date, night out with the girls or staying in on the couch watching sappy movies and eating cartons of ice cream.
Valentine’s Day is all about red, pink, and hearts so whether you choose to vamp it up in a sexy red dress, add a burst of festive color with tights or shoes, or show your heart with accessories, you can easily incorporate the day’s theme into a cute look that isn’t over-the-top.
Here are a few of my favorite options… Read More »

[I want it, I need it, I can’t live without it. There are so many things on store shelves and racks right now that we want to take home and hang in our closets. Things that are so cute, everyone should know about them. We’ll share ‘em with you here (because we’re that nice), but as far as actually getting them goes….well, you’re on your own with that one.]
While a little black dress is a staple in every woman’s wardrobe, some much-needed attention should be given to LBD’s sexy cousin: the little red dress. Yes, black is classic and timeless and blah, blah, blah, but red is sexy and draws some much needed attention to the fabulous woman wearing it: me…er…you.
And besides, Fred Flare’s fabulous strapless sweetheart bustier dress is still totally classy and sophisticated, only with some added va va va voom sex appeal from the color and perfect neckline.
Don’t want to go red? No worries; the sweetheart dress also comes in yellow (and we’re talking Rihanna-status neon nail polish yellow) and classic black. It’s perfect for a date party, graduation dinner, or even just a night out with the girls when paired with chunky jewelry and a patent leather flat.
Me likey.

Alright, Johansson, we’re gonna throw down, right here, RIGHT NOW.
Look, when you stepped out at the 2006 Golden Globes in that red dress that made me hate myself for a month, I said nothing. I sucked it up, bought a bra with gel inserts, and went on a diet.
When you became Woody Allen’s newest muse, stumbling through his manic dialogue with 34% accuracy, I let it go. Nobody can really do Woody Allen’s dialogue, so it was fine that you sucked.
And a few months ago, when I learned you were releasing an album of Tom Waits covers, I bit my tongue and pretended the idea of you attempting to understand the complicated, weather-beaten genius that is Mr. Waits didn’t feel like a dull spoon digging into my brain.
But this, THIS is too much. Dating Reynolds for only a year, and then somehow getting him to propose to you?! I’m not sure if you knew this, Scarlet, but after he and Alanis split, he was so slated to start dating me.
Whatever. All I have to say is watch your back. Especially if you come to New York City and happen to stumble into a dark alleyway in the East Village. Because I’ll be there.
…Right after I dismantle my R.R shrine and cry for a full 24 hours.
