Is it just me or is there another “revolutionary” new makeup product introduced every freaking day?! Just walking into Ulta or Sephora (or even Walgreens!) sends many chicas into fits of hysteria, reaching for the nearest brown bag to regulate their breathing. It’s all so overwhelming.

So how can you know which product – among the sea of thousands – is the best? Which does what you need it to do? Which ones are worth the extra money? Let me help. I don’t know every beauty product out there, but I’ve tested a lot of them and I’ll let you know which are worth the money and which are not.

What it is: Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense

Why this should be in your bag:
Pigmented lipsticks can really take a look up a notch. Whether it’s a perfect, everyday pink or an sultry red, every girl needs a couple great colors in her arsenal. Make Up For Ever’s new line of Rouge Artist Intense lipsticks are “formulated with 50% more pigment than the traditional lipstick…[and] gives an immediate, true-to-color result.” This means amazing color payoff and a long-wearing look.

With this new line, Make Up For Ever has also introduced a fool-proof method for finding your perfect shades: the Lipstick Shade Finder wheel. Based on your hair color and skin tone, this little baby will output your perfect nudes, reds and pinks from the collection and, trust me, it’s totally on the mark! This tool is available in Sephora stores and if you’re planning on purchasing from the line, I highly recommend using the Shade Finder.

How to use it:
Like I said, this lipstick is PIGMENTED! The pinks and nudes apply fairly good on their own, but with the reds, you definitely want to use a lip brush. If you’re using a matte shade, you’ll also want to exfoliate your lips before application, as I found that they tended to emphasize dryness. For the reds, start by swiping the lip brush lightly on the lipstick and applying the shade to the outline of your lips. Be careful – these reds are super, super pigmented and any excess you get on your face will require makeup remover to take it off. After lining the lips, fill them in, still using the lip brush.

Tip: If you’re using a matte shade, but want to change it up, use a clear or sparkly gloss over top! It totally changes the look!

Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist delivers exactly what it promises: insanely pigmented colors. I was totally pleased with the colors selected for me using the Lipstick Shade Finder, including an illusive perfect red. They are long-wearing and almost feel suctioned to my lips a few minutes after application. However, they require some skill and precision to apply and definitely aren’t “on the go” kinds of lipsticks.

Another great point is that there are 50 shades in the collection and 3 different finishes (matte, satin and pearly). This means that everyone, of every skin tone and hair color, will be able to find a pink, red and nude that suits them. If you’re in the market for a new, holy grail shade, try out the new Rouge Artist Intense! Don’t forget to try out the Shade Finder, too!

Start with a cute, 50′s-inspired halter dress. This particular style is from Forever 21, but I also found some super cute dresses in this cut (but with fun prints, like leopard) at H&M. The halter cut and the cinched waist do wonders to give a gal that hourglass figure.

For the Day:
You wanna keep it simple, so go with a basic pair of black flats and some black stud earrings. This will keep the outfit casual without being sloppy, and the minimal accessories will draw all the attention where it should be: on the dress.

An oversized red tote is the perfect way to give your outfit a little punch and also to covertly carry around a change of shoes and some extra accessories to make your outfit evening ready.

For The Night:
As the sun sets and the time comes to vamp it up, a quick shoe change, the addition of some accessories and some red lipstick make this ensemble pop.

Red heels always liven up an oufit, and the mary jane/peep-toe mix on these make them the perfect pair to add to the retro look.

An over-sized cocktail ring totally adds to the 50′s style, and if you really wanna go all out, add in a flowered hair clip, headband or hairpiece. Just stop there; between the red shoes and the detailing on the dress, you don’t want to go overboard.

For the ultimate pin-up look, slather on some red lipstick (just choose the right shade!) and you’ll be lookin’ like a vixen in no time flat.

Then the designers find out they have to design for one another, which is when everything got really fun, because their designs had to be inspired by a certain genre of music.

And someone up above was watching over this situation and fulfilled my dreams of finally laughing at an episode of Project Runway by putting the most ridiculous pairings together.

Here’s the breakdown:

Jerell has to be dressed in rock and roll (where is Leatha Stella when you need her?)

Suede must be donned in punk rock attire.

Kenley is to look like a pop star

Korto has to go country.

Leanne has to rock the hip hop look.

Yeah, this is bonafide comedy fo sho.

The designers go to the fabric store where we see Kenley purchasing a floral fabric (SHOCK!) for a hip hop ensemble (Questionable…) We also find out that Suede classically trained cellist…and he’s dressed Britney Spears?

So much going on. So little time to care.

I really just want to get to the runway show. Until, of course, Tim comes in to do a little advising and totally bitch slaps that ugly red lipstick right off of Kenley’s face.

The problem with Kenley is that she can’t handle ANY criticism. She is like a guy in the bedroom; tell her she did something wrong and she turns her back to you and starts to cry (leaving you forced to finish everything yourself…wait…I think I took the analogy a step too far). I think the girl needs to step away from her hipster collection of vintage vinyl records and realize that she has NO IDEA what hip hop is.

Oh and she better respect Tim Gunn. No one talks back to that man and gets away with it. NO ONE.

So, as usual, Kenley decides she’s not gonna listen to Tim. And now it is time for the most amazing runway since the drag queens. The designers head to hair and makeup where Suede is given a multicolored front mullet, Kenley is totally turned into Britney Spears, Leanne is turned into a white girl trying too hard and Jerell….looks exactly the same.

The designers strut their stuff down the runway and I have to say – seeing Kenley dressed as a total slut, Korto in cowboy boots and Leanne do a “hip hop move” at the end of the runway makes this the best episode of all time. (Oh and did anyone else totally see Jerell’s junk in those pants?!)

Yes, I am including every single season. Even the whole “Andre, let’s go to Red Lobster” sitch.

Anyways, the judges (including LL Cool J…who totally put Kenley in her place…and is so effing hot) deliberated and crowned Korto’s punk design for Suede as the winning look.

The bottom 2 were Kenley and Suede. According to Heidi (and her terrible metaphor), Suede stayed too safe: “You could have turned up the volume but you stayed silent.” Get it? Cuz he was designing a rock and roll look? Heidi is so clever!

So, Suede was sent home. Wearing metallic green eyeshadow.
