If you take a stroll around my city, you’ll see girls and guys alike donning short shorts and track jackets, music a-blastin’ from their iPods. They’re only participating in the latest craze we like to call running. If you haven’t joined the club, now is the best time to do so! Why?
1. Nothing feels better than setting a goal of 5K, 10K, half or even a full marathon…and actually finishing it. Talk about extreme motivation.
2. Trying to get that 6-pack to peek through? Running has amazing cardio benefits that’ll shed an extra layer of fat.
3. You don’t need equipment. Just your fave pair of running shoes and you’re good to go.
4. The running community is extremely supportive. There are fun runs almost everywhere! Check out places like Sports Basement, Lululemon Athletica or Nike.
5. Runner’s high! It exists, trust me. Read More »

So, the thing about most of the annoying people on campus is that, most of the time, you can get away from them. Either you pass the class and move on, you simply ignore their sermons, or they generally exit your life just as quickly as they came.
Not all of them, though. Some annoying campus dwellers will be there. Always. Forever. And never go away.
Who am I talking about? Why, the Frat House Groupie, of course!
Now, there are many girls who may seem to fall into this category that should not. These are:
1) Members of a sister sorority. It’s super common to see certain fraternities pairing up with certain sororities on campus; their bylaws/campus rules/international standards of fraternizing require that they have to make nice with the girlies and co-host events together. Whatev. Point is, if you’re hanging at the house one Friday night because they’re having an awesome 70s themed costume party and you see the typical group of sorority girls, those are the least of your worries.
2) Girlfriends or ex girlfriends of frat boys: These girls are expected to be there. After all, they aren’t just trolling the crowd looking for booty; this is their man’s house. Or their ex man. And they are still friends with all the boys. Read: they know people.
Now that we have that out of the way, let’s move into the girls you should be wary of. There are generally two types of Frat House Groupies: Read More »

I’m a runner and, as such, I like to have nice, practical (yet cute!), and comfortable clothes to strut my stuff in at the gym or on the track. The whole, baggy T-shirt and sweats just doesn’t cut it anymore; a lady likes to keep it together, even covered in sweat.
So, where do I go to get my favorite sneaks and workout clothes? Read below where this runner gets her kicks – and looks.
Marshalls. I swear by this place. They have everything from sneaks to sports bras to running pants and Under Armour for those chilly workout days. And it is all way cheaper than you would find at a regular store.
Dick’s. Get your mind out of the gutter, ladies. I am talking about Dick’s Sporting Goods store. A close second to Sports Authority (which, despite its top notch designs for workout attire, packs on a heavy price tag), you can find the best name brands for lower prices than other chain athletic stores.
Old Navy. Wife beater tanks in a billion colors, yoga pants and athletic shorts…all for under $15. You really can’t beat that.
Ebay. I know, sounds risky, but you can find Nike, Reebok, Adidas, New Balance and many more brands on this site. All you need to know is your size. Don’t know off the top of your hand? Run to a store, try on the gear, then come home and purchase what you want online for less than you’d pay anywhere else.
Ross Dress for Less. Similar to Daffy’s, Ross Dress for Less is a discount store that offers name brands at extremely (I’m talking $5 tops ladies) low prices. Google and find if there’s a store near you; they have stores in 27 states. Read More »

They’re hideous, but clearly Uggs aren’t going anywhere. I own and love them, and wear them regularly from November to March.
Practical as these babies may be for me, I cannot think of any reason why men should own them. I wouldn’t even bother arguing this point aside from the unfortunate reality that I’ve seen it, both on campus in the Midwest and at subway entrances in the city.
Guys are wearing the classic-style Uggs, and apparently seem to think that’s okay. I do not believe I am the only one who finds this shocking, appalling, and more than a little disgusting.
Maybe it’s because so many guys are anti-Ugg that I can’t wrap my head around the idea of original Uggs for men. The only saving grace for the brand is that they do make legitimate leather boots and shoes that don’t look like the stereotypical Uggs. This does not relate to the pet peeve in question. We’re talking the original pull-on shearling boots. That men just don’t need.
It’s as frivolous as a guy wearing Manolo Blahnik running shoes. Something just doesn’t quite add up. Read More »
