Clear your weekend plans! The Golden Globes kick off Hollywood’s awards season this Sunday. It’s the only show where those in both the film and television industry are recognized at the same time. This means that all your favorite stars are going to be walking down the same read carpet at the same time. The Globes, more or less, are the ultimate place for star-gazing and drooling. Additionally, it’s one of those crazy award events that does table seating, not typical auditorium rows, putting all our fave celebs together to wine and dine. Just when you think Ryan Gosling can’t get any more amazing, he goes and gets himself a new meme. And not just any meme, it’s a Hannukah themed meme. It’s like the dreidel keeps falling on gimmel and my heart is collecting all the gelt. (Whoever understands that reference wins my last leftover Bat Mitzvah party favor. What is it? Hint: it involves a picture of me in all my 13-year-old glory.) But seriously, all rabbinical humor aside, it’s officially my favorite tumblr of the day. Once upon a time I was telling a friend of mine a story. It was a complex story. One involving many different people, location changes, shifts in time, a vortex of sorts, dark matter, dinosaurs, The String Theory and a pair of neon sunglasses I really, really wanted. No, I wasn’t recapping the sixth season of Lost, just my Sunday afternoon.

Somewhere around the twenty-minute mark and/or the fourth time I asked, “So, are you still following me?” my dear, wonderful audience-of-one looks at me and asks if I’ve ever watched Drunk History. Apparently (and I quote), listening to me recount my tale “was like listening to a person who just took six vodka shots to the face.” Psh, and to think I called this person a friend.

Anyway, long story short (I really love telling stories, apparently), this is how I discovered Funny or Die’s amazing web series Drunk History. If you aren’t hip to that historically-relevant amazingness yet, get with the program.

Just in time for Christmas, F or D released a new Drunk History video, featuring none other than Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes, and Jim Carrey acting out the Night Before Christmas. Hold on to your bed caps, kids, and prepare to experience this classic Christmas poem as you never have before.

The Golden Globe nominees were announced today, and it’s all pretty much as expected. Total fugly faces Ryan Gosling and George Clooney received the most nominations, while Girl With The Dragon Tattoo finally got a little respect after being snubbed at the Screen Actor’s Guild Awards. Be sure to check out the full list of nominees before you settle in and watch the Globes on January 11th, as there are a few surprises.

We were thrilled to see Bridesmaids up for Best Motion Picture Comedy-Musical…fingers crossed our gal Kristen Wiig walks away with the win, beating out the not-so-comedy-or-musical My Week With Marilyn. Seriously, though, wasn’t that definitely a drama film? Anyway!
