Today, #ThingsThatAreSexy is trending on Twitter. And I learned a very important lesson from this educational hashtag. Basically, whatever you might wear, do or say, someone in the world (or at least on Twitter) will find it sexy. Really. There were some sweet ones, some funny ones, and some just plain weird ones.

The difference between the girl with a remarkable man and the girl with a remarkable number of STDs manifests itself in a woman’s character. Of course too much cleavage and sexual activity can also play into this realm of whoredom, but these aspects are not nearly as important as how a sexy woman carries herself. To be sexy (and not whore-y), a woman has to be filled with playfulness, sexual entendres/innuendos, and mystery. In short, she must master the art of the tease.

I don’t need to tell you what a whore is. I think that legs are one of the sexiest parts of the body. Showing a little bit of leg is one of the easiest ways to add a pop to an outfit, whether you’re rocking shorts in the summer or a dress for a night out. But there’s a fine line between showing just enough and showing a little too much.

In this video, YouTube user BritPopPrincess shows us her take on how to wear a mini skirt without looking “slutty.” I do think that the line between just enough and too much is different depending on the occasion, but she has some great tips regardless. Role playing is ESSENTIAL in any long-term, monogamous relationship.

And it’s just plain fun in any other situation.

Role playing allows us to live out our fantasies in a comfortable, safe situation, and adds some much needed variety to our sex lives. But as fun as it is to be someone else for a bit, it can also be really nerve-racking. We’re not all professional actors, and pretending to be someone else, especially when you’re naked and vulnerable, can be hard.

If you’ve never done it before, do it. And if you’re not sure how, here are my answers to a few questions you probably have:

Q. How do I tell my partner I want to role-play with seeming like I’m bored with him/her?

A. “I’ve always thought it would be really hot to sleep with a professor. Can I call you Dr. ______ tonight?” Most partners will be happy to help you fulfill your fantasies.

Q. What are some good role play scenarios to try?

A. Anything that turns you on. My favorites are situations where one person has to talk the other into sex because it’s “forbidden.” Something like teacher/student or boss/employee can be really hot, and you can alternate who does the convincing (i.e. naughty student or pervy professor).

Q. What do I say? How do I act?

A. Don’t try too hard or over think it; just say what comes naturally. In a “forbidden” scenario, the conversation is practically written for you (“I’m not sure about this.” “Don’t worry, no one has to know.”). For other scenarios just keep it basic in the beginning. Doctor/nurse – talk about the hospital you work at, firefighter/rescued person – talk about how scared you were and how thankful you are. It’s good to throw in some sexy stuff, but don’t force it. “I’ve wanted you all semester” is much hotter than “I’ll suck your D for an A.” You get the picture.

Q. What if I get tired of it halfway through?

A. It’s totally fine to use role playing as foreplay and then go back to your normal self when the sexing gets really hot. Not everyone can keep up the façade when they’re under so much intense pleasure. You’re partner will understand.

Q. Do I have to dress up?

A. No, but it might be fun. We’re college students, so we all know how to work a theme party. Feel free to apply the same ideas to the bedroom.

According to the old adage, sex sells. Plenty of companies on the market seem to operate under that idea, even ones that it doesn’t really make any sense for (um, how is my fabric softener sexy?). However, with American Apparel – a company known mainly for multi-colored tees, metallic leggings and having porntastic ads – circling the drain, it makes me wonder if the whole “sex sells” thing is just hype.

On one side, the idea that sex sells makes sense. We all want to be attractive and sexy, be surrounded by sexy people, do sexy things and maybe even have sex, so that seems like a pretty solid strategy for trying to sell stuff – appeal to the appetite. Also, the whole basic point of advertising in the first place is to attract people’s attention to a product, and while companies like American Apparel and Abercrombie (anyone remember when their ads were a big deal?) may not be showcasing their clothes as much as how provocative they can be, the ads do attract attention. By that logic, even if people don’t directly but their products because of what they saw in the ads, at least it makes people aware of the brand, and in turn more likely to shop there.

At the same time though, I can’t think of anyone I know who’s ever bought something because they saw it in an American Apparel ad. In fact, I’ve never heard of anyone buying anything from them because they thought it would somehow make them sexier, which seems to defeat concept number one. Also, if the idea it just to be as scandalous as possible to attract attention why even bother with the models? Why not, say, just make shocking accusations about historical figures, or put up a big sign telling people to go screw themselves or – oh! brilliant marketing idea! – be honest and tell people that you have overpriced crap merchandise? (Besides those luxurious t-shirts…mmmmm.) Seems like that would get just as much attention as a porn star in socks. And since their numbers are going down the toilet, it seems that the sexed up ads haven’t done much for their sales.

So I never really knew how to felt about Megan Fox…especially after she made her debut in Michael Bay’s blockbuster hit, “Transformers.” I initially hated her cause she was smackin’ her pillowy lips on my hot (dream) bf Shia LaBeouf. Throughout the movie she basically was eye candy for all the men while all the ladies just rolled our eyes until Shia came on-screen.

But the more I’ve read her interviews, where she really, really speaks her mind and basically doesn’t give a care about anything or anyone in the world, I think I am starting to appreciate her brash honesty, which is refreshing to read in comparison to all the blonde, bimbo-ish Hollywood mannequins that we currently have in the industry.

Ever since it was announced that she was dropped as Shia’s love interest (shocker! I know) from the third Transformers movie, so many people have been wondering whether she was fired (because she called Michael Bay a Nazi during one of her interviews, nice one Fox) or she chose to step down because apparently, Bay really does act like a Nazi on movie sets.

Whichever story is true, we will never know (Hollywood is sneaky like that), but it’s already been announced that Bay has already found Fox’s replacement, Victoria’s Secret model Rosie-Huntington Whitely, whom he worked with while shooting an ad for the lingerie company. Even though I absolutely loved and adored the past two Transformers movies (I know, I’m a nerd like that and plus…another reason for me to be reunited with Shia), I have finally realized that the reason why Michael Bay is still in bizness is because he casts really gorgeous girls whom none of us can ever attain to and plays with cool explosions. Somehow that makes a blockbuster movie, shame.

It’s sad really, that Hollywood and Tinseltown has come down to this. I’m pretty sure Bay wanted Fox to scram after she whined and sounded off to the media about how much she hated working with him. I mean, I would be pretty angry too if I were a director that made someone super, super famous and that person just ended up bashing on me. But whatever the case is, it’s now been established that Michael Bay only casts really pretty girls so he can belittle them on set.

Hollywood is so elite.

Romance?  No.
Chocolate?  No again.
Flowers?  Absolutely not.

Traditionally, Valentine’s Day is about spending two weeks trying to find the perfect gift for your boyfriend or girlfriend and often failing miserably. Then spending another two weeks talking about said failure with your friends. It’s exhausting and its not what should be occupying your time.

This year, instead of you and your partner both exerting your energy worrying about getting each other the “perfect gift,” why not focus on gifts you can share together? It takes the stress off of your shoulders and brings the focus back to what this holiday is really about: spending time with the one you luuuurve.

Sexy Lingerie. While possibly a little bit cliché, this gift will always work (especially when you bust it out again in March, April…you get the point).  You get to look really hot in some expensive Victoria’s Secret get-up and he gets to get hot when he sees you. Then you both get to enjoy what happens next. And again in the morning.

Weekend Getaway. If you’ve been dating for a long time and you want to do something ultra romantic, plan a weekend trip to a bed-and breakfast.  Spend the days wandering in and out of shops in the cozy little town and the nights snuggling in your quaint little room. If that’s too much to plan, booking a nice hotel in your college town for the night is a cheaper and easier alternative. It may not seem like much, but it’s amazing what a clean room without roommates can do.

Concert Tickets. If candy and chocolate is not your thing, check out who’s playing around town and split a pair of tickets with your man.  If that sounds too pricey, you can also always look up an open mic night or a café concert for something different, intimate and special.

A Date Day. Instead of doing gifts, plan an over-the-top date! Get breakfast together, come home and watch a movie, feed each other chocolate, cook a meal together, spend the night together…anything that keeps the two of you together for the entire day.  Valentine’s Day is a great day to just be with the person you love (cheesy, but true) and just clearing your schedule for the other person can sometimes be enough.  So enjoy!
