• The Worst Party Fouls

    The Worst Party Fouls

PARTY FOUL! Don’t act like you haven’t heard it before. According to Urban Dictionary, it’s “something socially unacceptable done in a social gathering.” For those of us who have been in the presence of a party foul or may have accidentally committed one ourselves, we know that they’re much more than that.

  • Let It Rock: The More Ridiculous, The Better

Let It Rock: The More Ridiculous, The Better

Do you ever listen to music that’s completely ridiculous? (Editor’s Note: Does Miley count?) To the point that you start feeling ridiculous and maybe even hide the fact that you listen to other people? (Editor’s Note: Miley definitely counts.) Or just sorta wonder what’s going on in the artist’s head?

  • Let It Rock: Do You Like Surprises?

Let It Rock: Do You Like Surprises?

The great thing about new music is that you never really know what you’re gonna get. Sorta like life. And a box of chocolates (thanks, Forrest!). Sometimes albums totally and completely surprise you. And sometimes they don’t at all. Sometimes surprises are good, and sometimes they’re a huge letdown. Sometimes all you want is your favorite band just the same as always, and sometimes a little change makes them all the better.

  • Let It Rock: Music Makes Me Happy

Let It Rock: Music Makes Me Happy

All the artists this week make me happy. Even when the songs are sad, I’m happy. And I think that’s a sign of a truly great artist; they can sing about the saddest things in love and still put a smile on my face. And sometimes you just need music to comfort you and make you feel good. Like during midterms after spending 6 straight hours at the library and you’re only a third of the way through your reading.

  • Let It Rock: More Like, Let Me Down

Let It Rock: More Like, Let Me Down

Wow, this week was a bit of a bummer. So much anticipation and a whole lot of disappointment. You’re probably thinking I deserve it. After all, I got my hopes all up about Mariah Carey and Selena Gomez, so what did I really deserve, right?

  • Let It Rock: Flashback!

    Let It Rock: Flashback!

I feel like I’m having a major flashback this week. Like Wayne and Garth are running by me in my bedroom waving their hands in the air screaming “Do do do do. Do do do do.” And then everything gets all jumbled and I’m ten years younger and wearing something completely ridiculous.

  • Let It Rock: Off Again, On Again

Let It Rock: Off Again, On Again

This has been a crazy week.

Jay-Z came back! Scarlett Johansson came out with an album with Pete Yorn. (Hey, it’s gotta be better than The Hoff’s singing, right?) Oh, and Mason Jennings came out with something new..though everything he does is new to me.

  • Let It Rock: They’re Back!

    Let It Rock: They’re Back!

None of the artists with new releases are new to me this week. I’ve loved them all in the past and now I’m coming back for more. Actually, they’re coming back to give me more and I’m taking it all with wide open arms. And I’m pretty psyched to hear some new stuff from some of my old favorites. It makes me feel at home and right where I belong. I’m so happy to have my old friends back again!

  • Let It Rock: Something Old, Something New, Something Blue

Let It Rock: Something Old, Something New, Something Blue

My sister is getting married and I’ve had weddings on the brain, so this week I’m dedicating this review to her and doin’ the something old, something new, and something blue routine. It doesn’t just apply to brides, you know. I didn’t borrow any of my music this week (I’m not good at giving back), so I had to leave that one out.

  • Let It Rock: I’ve Been Waiting For You

Let It Rock: I’ve Been Waiting For You

Sometimes I love a band so much, I just sit and wait for them to come out with something new. Well, I don’t literally sit and wait, but I do get really excited when I know a release date is near. And this week, my long and painful wait was over.

  • Let It Rock: Sometimes I Surprise Myself

Let It Rock: Sometimes I Surprise Myself

This week might be the most random mix of reviews ever. Seriously, ever. I even surprised myself a bit. I was ready to love who I already loved and hate who I wanted to hate, but that’s not at all what happened. The one album I was most excited for fell flat. And the one I barely even wanted to listen to, well, I kinda liked.

  • Let It Rock: Which Way Do You Love It?

Let It Rock: Which Way Do You Love It?

Chris Daughtry I love in a good-boy rocker kind of way. Jack White I love in a creepy weirdo fascination kind of way. And the 500 Days of Summer I love in a Zooey Deschanel kind of way. I love music in lots of different ways and this week is a prime example of how much my love can vary.

  • Let It Rock: Loving The Men

Let It Rock: Loving The Men

This week was all about men and, what can I say? I love me some men. With guitars. Who make good music. (That last one is key.) Yup, I had a big, beautiful music orgy this week and I just want more. Bring on the boys!

  • Let it Rock: Make New Friends But Keep the Old

Let it Rock: Make New Friends But Keep the Old

This week was all about utilizing what I learned in Girl Scouts all those years ago. No, not building a fire or navigating my way out of a forest, but that whole “make new friends but keep the old” adage.

  • Let it Rock: Mix It All Together and Call it Suicide

Let it Rock: Mix It All Together and Call it Suicide

Remember when you were a kid and you mixed a bunch of different flavors of soda together and called it “suicide”? That’s kind of what this week’s new music releases are like. A mish-mash of randomness. I mean we have the lead singer of Bright Eyes, a former American Idol contestant, and an R&B girl sensation.

  • Let it Rock: Music I Can Sing Along To

Let it Rock: Music I Can Sing Along To

I like music I can sing along to. Even better is music I only have to listen to once before I start singing along. Sometimes I find myself singing along before I even know the lyrics. Other people get annoyed at my mixture of mumbles and hums, but I can’t help myself.
