While you continue to cope with April showers, I’m here to remind you that it’s nearly time for May’s flowers! If the rain has you in a slump that not even Cee Lo on repeat can get you out of, you might have to take some more drastic measures. Like busting out those spring clothes that channel your cheery, summer self.
And what better way to channel spring than with bright, happy florals?
Even though the flowers might be a little scarce in your area at the moment (hell, even the sun is scarce in my part of town), now’s the time to start pulling out your bright-colored, floral print items for spring. Why? Well, for one thing, maybe that great floral top will inspire Mother Nature to get a move on with the spring weather. And if that doesn’t work, well, at least you’ll be looking splendidly springy until she does.
The wonderful and surprising thing about spring florals is that there really is something for every kind of style; there are lots of small floral prints in light colors if you like to dress girly, and large graphic floral prints in bright colors for those of you looking to make more of a splash (and not the April rain puddle kind). From skirts to dresses to bags to undies (??), everything’s coming up florals this season. And here are 15 items to get your garden wardrobe started. Read More »

Baby’s got back my friends. And by baby I mean the term of endearment I now use to call all of these amazingly sexy dresses. This summer, dresses with some sort of fun/sexy back detailing or cut-out are all over the place. Sure you might think that cleavage is where it’s at, but when you think about it these dresses make total sense.
Enter Exhibit A: You see cute guy at the bar, from the front you look put together, sophisticated and classy – the girl you can take home to mom. Then – BOOM – you turn around to walk away and there is one (sexy) party going on with your back. Va va va voom! Business in the front, party in the back doesn’t just apply to mullets anymore, ladies.
Here are some of my favorite options for summer and the back details mean you don’t need much else (except a great back workout!). A fun bracelet, a simple purse and shoe, and off you go. Oh, and the best part: Since you want to show off the back there’s no need to waste time straightening your hair in the humidity (we all know how that ends up). Just throw it back in a sleek bun or try a low side pony. Sounds like the perfect excuse for a simple ‘do to me. Read More »
Well, the week is finally over, and what a week it was. Where do I even begin? Obviously with the amazeballs Glee Madonna episode. Sue Sylvester is seriously my hero. Then we found this video of ‘Things I Hate’ that made me laugh until my face hurt more than after prom pictures. It was also 4/20 and Earth Day, and I killed two birds with one stone by chowing down on Sunchips.
And now, to call the week to a close, we have a whole weekend dedicated to patio happy hours and shopping online for new spring dresses. It’s moments like these that make me happy I have a little money store in the bank.
Ahhh, the good life. Summer is really inching closer and closer and I can already smell the burnt hot dogs in the air. But before you get wrapped up catching up on Glee (they’re airing it again tonight for the many of us who missed the last few minutes thanks to stupid American Idol) or diving into the spring dresses tab on the J. Crew website (color me guilty), take a look at the awesome week that was.
- We are wondering, if Noah can chase Allie (and hang on a Ferris Wheel to get her attention) why can’t women do the same without looking like complete creepers?
- Are sick days included in the real world? Eh, not so much.
- We argued the reasons why women shouldn’t wait for sexy time.
- Cosmopolitan came out with a ‘Sexy Issue’ this month. Yee-haw! But after reading it, we think it should be re-named the ‘Silly Issue.’ Read More »

With the end (fingers crossed) of the rain and the new May flowers that follow, what better way to celebrate it finally feeling like spring than with a dress! This year, there are so many adorable spring dresses to choose from that’s it’s hard to pick! (I just bought three…I have a problem.) But really, why should you have to choose just one? With retailers slashing their prices, you’re sure to find a good deal on one or two (or three) to satisfy your every dress need.
Or desire. Because that’s what it really comes down to, yes?
There are so many styles of dress to choose from, meaning there is the perfect dress out there for everyone, as well as every occasion. More modest dresses worn with blazers or cardigans are perfect for the summer job, while the fun, flirty, floral mini dresses are sure to be a hit for a girls night out on the town. With a large range of patterns and colors available, it’s easy to choose the statement you want to make with your dress, or find one that suits shoes and sweaters you already own. Read More »

Spring is right around the corner!!
Okay that is a total lie BUT Spring Break is right around the corner, giving us all the perfect excuse to don a great dress. And this season the bolder, the better. All my favorite budget sites have a plethora of bright, bold dresses that are total beauts.
And the best about these banging buys? The bold color choice leaves the rest of the outfit simple. Feel free to pair with some gold bangles or a simple pair of earrings; just let the dress do the talkin’. That means no muss, no fuss, and no stressing out over which accessories to squeeze into that already over-stuffed suitcase. (Figuring out the clothes is hard enough.) Just throw a few of these in, toss in a pair of wedges and a pair of flats (right next to that bottle of Absolut), and you are ready for Acapulco or wherever your Spring Break destination may be. And – bonus round! – you can wear these well into spring and summer.
If only God would answer my prayers and let Spring come now! All I want is a sun dress, an iced coffee and a huge pair of sunglasses. But hey, he did answer my call with Pajama Jeans, so maybe I can hold out for a 60 degree March in the Midwest? Read More »

Today is the first official day of Spring, ladies! Sure, you might not feel it yet (I know I wore a winter coat to the bar last night), but that is what the calendar says, so bust out the Havianas and madras and embrace the new season!
It’s amazing what the weather can do for your mood. Just the thought of rocking my new Ray Ban’s with a pair of flip flops has me jumping for joy. Seriously, the guy who lives below me just jabbed his broom at the ceiling. Maybe once he sees the sun shining he’ll stop being so grumpy.
Anyways, I. LOVE. Spring. It’s my favorite season of the year by far. Jean jackets, spring dresses, sangria on the porch – there is nothing better. And the rest of the CollegeCandy writers agree. See what they love most about spring. Read More »
