Versatile Style: Gentle Fawn Wilderness Dress

My summer thus far has been filled with backyard BBQs, nights out with girls, day-trips and weekends on the lake. Although shorts and tank tops cut it for all these events, sometimes I just want to be girly and wear a casual, summery dress. Cue the Gentle Fawn Wilderness Dress!

This gorgeous dress comes to just about mid-thigh, making it sexy and sassy, without showing off too much. It’s 100% cotton, so it’s super lightweight, but the detailing is what really steals the show. A beautiful eyelet design decorates the upper part of the dress and the unexpected cut of the top make it super unique! You definitely don’t have something like the Wilderness Dress is your wardrobe. Weekly Wrap Up: It Was a Good Week

Well, the week is finally over, and what a week it was. Where do I even begin? Obviously with the amazeballs Glee Madonna episode.  Sue Sylvester is seriously my hero.  Then we found this video of ‘Things I Hate’ that made me laugh until my face hurt more than after prom pictures.  It was also 4/20 and Earth Day, and I killed two birds with one stone by chowing down on Sunchips.

And now, to call the week to a close, we have a whole weekend dedicated to patio happy hours and shopping online for new spring dresses. It’s moments like these that make me happy I have a little money store in the bank.

Ahhh, the good life. Summer is really inching closer and closer and I can already smell the burnt hot dogs in the air. But before you get wrapped up catching up on Glee (they’re airing it again tonight for the many of us who missed the last few minutes thanks to stupid American Idol) or diving into the spring dresses tab on the J. Crew website (color me guilty), take a look at the awesome week that was.

- We are wondering, if Noah can chase Allie (and hang on a Ferris Wheel to get her attention) why can’t women do the same without looking like complete creepers?

- Are sick days included in the real world?  Eh, not so much.

- We argued the reasons why women shouldn’t wait for sexy time.

- Cosmopolitan came out with a ‘Sexy Issue’ this month. Yee-haw! But after reading it, we think it should be re-named the ‘Silly Issue.’ Read More »

Budget Stylista: The Bolder the Better!

Spring is right around the corner!!

Okay that is a total lie BUT Spring Break is right around the corner, giving us all the perfect excuse to don a great dress. And this season the bolder, the better. All my favorite budget sites have a plethora of bright, bold dresses that are total beauts.

And the best about these banging buys? The bold color choice leaves the rest of the outfit simple. Feel free to pair with some gold bangles or a simple pair of earrings; just let the dress do the talkin’. That means no muss, no fuss, and no stressing out over which accessories to squeeze into that already over-stuffed suitcase. (Figuring out the clothes is hard enough.) Just throw a few of these in, toss in a pair of wedges and a pair of flats (right next to that bottle of Absolut), and you are ready for Acapulco or wherever your Spring Break destination may be. And – bonus round! – you can wear these well into spring and summer.

If only God would answer my prayers and let Spring come now! All I want is a sun dress, an iced coffee and a huge pair of sunglasses. But hey, he did answer my call with Pajama Jeans, so maybe I can hold out for a 60 degree March in the Midwest? Read More »

Fashion Porn: Dress Orgy

dress orgy

[Most guys we know stay up late dreaming of the day they might end up in a giant orgy with beautiful women. We, however, lie awake at night dreaming of a closet full of beautiful clothes. To the left, a wall of shoes. To the right, shelf upon shelf of delicately handcrafted bags organized by color and size.

Sigh.
We all have our fantasies.

Since guys can turn to the interwebs to get their daily fantasy fix, we thought you should, too! So, we’re bringing you some fashion porn. The best of the best in all things fashionable. Sure, it may be out of your price range, but it’s a fantasy, so live it up in all its delicious glory.]

Dresses are to me as naked ladies are to boys: irresistible. And sexy. And the pictures I look at most on the internet. Though they are often associated with special occasions – probably due to the puffy versions with crinoline underskirts young girls were forced into – they don’t have to be.  In fact, dresses are pretty much the easiest piece of fashion around: just slip it on and go.  They have been quite popular for a few seasons now, which means there is something out there for everyone…or a million different somethings out there for each of us. Not Quite Fall Fashion

fall trends 2007

It’s hot, it’s cold, oh wait! It’s hot again.

When the weather won’t make up its mind between fall and summer, summer and fall, getting dressed in the morning can be quite problematic. Luckily, trends for the in between have been popping up all over Manhattan, which as we ALL know, is pretty much the center of the universe.

While it may appear that combining the fall and summer trends could be tricky, it’s really quite easy. Layer it on so it’s easy to take off.

Basically, the seasonal transition time is a fashion free for all where most anything goes.

Here are a few street trends to try when its not too hot but not too cold: Read More »

The Empowered Female, An Empowering Dresser?

short skirtI may be a fashionista, but clothes remain an oddity to me. I gave up dressing for the male gender along time ago and now if I show off my tits it’s because I want to. And because I like my breasts, to me they are empowering.

I embraced the baby doll tent/trapeze dress for summer because for once it was a style that was breezy and light and dare I say it comfortable. I decided I’d stick it to the man (or men) who found the style unappealing. I liked it. And they showcased my legs, another of my favorite features. It allowed me to keep the ladies under wraps but let people go gaga over my gams.

All in all, I loved the shape of the summer dresses, or the fact that there wasn’t much shape to them at all.

But it all got me to thinking. In a way although we dress for ourselves, we do dress for others. And the other night I had a horrifying experience where in all of this shapely/shapeless controversy came to a head.

I was walking to the train from work, standing on a corner about to walk into Union Square. It was late and I was tired and talking to my boyfriend. That day I had worn an American Apparel strapless tube dress with a flouncy tunic to cover up the fact that the dress showed more curves than I was comfortable with.

So, I was showing off my shape, but still covering it up. And I had on my mother’s old cowboy boots, since I work at a Texas BBQ restaurant and its pretty much the only dress code requirement of a hostess. They also draw way more attention from men than I ever imagined—I get a “hey cowgirl” at least every other day. Read More »
