My name is Sammie and I…am a Giants fan.
It is a sad truth that only served me well three years ago when we pulled out the fantastic miracle that was Super Bowl XLII. This year, at the very least, it isn’t the Patriots in the Super Bowl, but the New Orleans Saints and the Indianapolis Colts. Two very interesting teams, which for some sad reason have players I, as a pop culture junkie as well as a sports fan, recognize from their liaisons with Kardashians (Saints Running Back, Reggie Bush) and their surprisingly hilarious guest spots on Saturday Night Live (Colts QB, Peyton Manning).
But there’s more to these two powerhouses than those hotties, and tomorrow night’s game is gonna be a biggie. Read More »
Pat yourselves on the back, everyone – we have officially surpassed another stressful week! And if you are a hopeless romantic like me, Channing Tatum is closing out the week with a bang (or a box full of tissues) in Dear John. And I. Am. Looking forward to it. Besides drooling excessively over Mr. Tatum’s abs, we have a lot more to look forward to this weekend: dance parties, our last football Sunday for the season, and busting our minds for that perfect (reasonably cheap) gift for a special someone.
And, yes, it still counts if the gift is for you.
So, my lovely College Candies, let us reflect on the busy week that was:
As I found myself tearing up over the finale of Teen Mom, we closed the (drama-filled) season with one final question.
For some, something about blowing out candles post-graduation feels…a little disappointing.
Taylor Swift is getting really good at those acceptance speeches. Don’t you think she could stop acting so surprised? It is getting a little old.
As Valentine’s Day gets closer and closer, we are left wondering why Average Joe didn’t let me breeze into the classroom first as he held the door open. Um, hello Romeo? Where art thou?
The Grammys did not seize to completely blow us away with some serious red carpet “uh whats?” and “oh wows.” Read More »

Let’s be serious: everyone and their mother (literally) watches the Super Bowl. Whether it’s for phenomenal commercials, gorgeous athletes, a scandalous halftime show, or for the actual sport, the entire country stops what they’re doing on Super Bowl Sunday and tunes in.
Personally, I watch for a combination of all four of these reasons (plus 4 hours of dipping delicious crispy things into delicious mushy stuff), and revel in every second of it. Sure, I’m used to being a little more involved in the actual outcome of the game (I’m a Steelers fan, so I’m used to winning these type things….), but this time I really am excited, because its going to be a battle of two great powerhouses this season. $2,600,000.
That’s what 30 seconds of air time costs during Sunday’s Super Bowl.
Can’t afford it? We can’t either, though we’d love a spot involving Paris Hilton licking an over-sized lollipop, rollerblading through an All-American neighborhood, led by a jive talking goat on a leash. We can dream at PopEater, but only the big bad boys of commerce cough up the cash to advertise during the grandest American event of the year. Here’s a sneak peak at the ads 90 million or so of you will see this Sunday.
